Kindle Fire HDX cracked screen? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:04 PM PST Hello, I have a kindle fire hdx that I broke the screen and now need to get all my information from it into my computer. Before (Which I should gotten fixed , was that the screen was loose, so anytime I had the tablet, the screen would turn into that static like TV and it would be all jumbled. I "fixed' it by bending the screen back into place and it would be normal again. Bend it back too far where my touchscreen won't move or slide. The only thing that was responsive was on the upper right corner where I could move it. I didn't mess with it until I looked online about connecting a Bluetooth mouse and otg cable for the mouse. I tested USB on my tablet, no cursor was showing so I switched it with my other tablet and the cursor showed up. Is there anyway to get data of my tablet. I also have a security pin number for the kindle fire before I'm in the silk browser homepage. [link] [comments] |

Samsung Galaxy S5 not receiving messages Posted: 01 Feb 2019 08:33 PM PST Hi so my Grandma's S5 is not receiving my messages. She previously had it connected to Facebook Messenger and then disconnected it. Now she won't receive the messages on the message app. I tried putting my contact info as a priority sender and you can see there is a message notification. The message thread between us doesn't show up on her phone. I have tried: - making sure the date and time are correct - resetting the phone - making sure my phone is able to send SMS messages - checking she didn't accidentally block me [link] [comments] |
Audio balance problem on Pixel 3 Posted: 01 Feb 2019 08:13 PM PST So I have partial hearing loss in my right ear and I was able to compensate for this with the Audio Balance setting present in my last android phone. But now I have the Pixel 3 and that setting is gone. I'm also unable to root my device due to the phone being on Verizon. What other ways can I fix the audio panning without being able to root my phone? An app or something would suffice, I just find it wild that they took out such a simple setting. Thank you! Is there anyway to see reddit search history? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:10 PM PST Not post history but search history. Like what words were searched for. [link] [comments] |
Webview is disabled and can't be reenabled Posted: 01 Feb 2019 03:58 PM PST As the title says however I don't remember turning it off. The enable button is grayed out so I can't fix it normally. I tried resetting disabled apps to default but webview is still off. The only idea I have left is a factory reset but I don't want to configure my device again. Device: LG G6 Android: stock 8.0.0 [link] [comments] |
Backup list of blocked numbers Posted: 01 Feb 2019 02:57 PM PST I'm using LineageOS on a Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100) smartphone. Android version 7.1.2. Is it possible to export/import the list of blocked numbers? I know how to export/import the list of contacts, but it seems that doesn't include blocked ones. So every time I format my phone and flash it again I lose my list of blocked contacts. Is there a way to fix this problem? Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:23 AM PST Find my Device randomly rings my phone, locks it — with obscene messages on lock screen. (I know it's Find my Device because I can see the notification in the bar.) It's getting worse hourly, and I'm not even the one hijinking myself! I've tried updating the settings in Google's My Account page, changing my Google and Samsung account passwords (the phone's a Samsung model); previously, access to Device Information was enabled (not sure if it has anything to do with this). This has been going on four hours now. I'm starting to get scared, seeing as my first line of defense has failed. I'm about clueless now. My only options are reset the phone, or switch to a new Google account — neither of which I'd prefer to go by, because it's (a) too much work transferring data, and (b) I'd feel like I've lost a personal battle. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, y'all! ETA: I'M SO SORRY PEEPS, I'M SO SORRY! I FORGOT THAT I HAD ANOTHER ACCOUNT ON THE PHONE — and it's my university account, which means that all of them have the same password (that's how my uni does it). So, I'm sorry for eating your time, people. Thanks for the responses and the magnanimity. I've been thoroughly had. I'm leaving this up as a testimony of my carelessness. Thanks, peeps 😁😂! ETATA: Chill, guys, I've changed the password now; I assume for convenience they made all the accounts with the same password. I've changed it now, so no worries. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
PC file transfer only shows 2019 pictures Posted: 01 Feb 2019 05:10 PM PST I am not sure when this happened, but I have had pictures on my Nexus 5 phone for years now. But I think maybe just in the past month or so, whenever I connect my phone to the PC via file transfer, only 2019 pictures are found in the DCIM folder. All the older pictures from 2018 and earlier are invisible or hidden. I set my pc to show all hidden files and folders, I still cannot see them. but when I open my phone's photo gallery, all the pictures are still in my phone. any idea what is going on and how to fix it? Will Anker's new "ultrafast" charger charge my Nexus 6p quicker than the stock charger? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:59 PM PST And if so, is it safe? I can't tell what it would mean for an existing Android phone. The marketing material only says it's been optimized to charge iPhones quicker. [link] [comments] |
How to remove Chrome's bottom bar? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 08:01 PM PST My phone auto updated Google Chrome and now I'm stuck with an ugly bottom bar, which is taking up precious screen estate without giving me additional benefits. How do I remove this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 03:56 PM PST Hello My wife's S9 Chrome settings got changed somehow. Her tab buttons and home button are both showing on the bottom of her screen. (First image). She would like them back on the top of the screen like my S9 is set up. (Second image). I cant find any option in the settings and Google is showing me how to move whole address bar to the bottom or top. Thank you very much [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 11:38 AM PST So I have two step verification for Gmail where I have to tap yes on my phone to sign in. Recently whenever I try to do this, a secure folder notification comes up and cancels the two step verification process. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? [link] [comments] |
Prevent All Info Recovery After Wipe? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:06 PM PST Hello I am curious to know if there is any form to avoid any possible recovery of information from an Android device? That being even with the most top notch government tools? I've read about encrypting data, wiping, then filling the phone with dummy data again and wiping, but does that truly work? I'm not exactly sure how mobile storage works, and would like to know if anyone here has some knowledge on that. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Calendar widgets always prompt to select a calendar app when tapping an event Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:42 PM PST I have two calendar widgets that operate like this. I emailed the developer for one of them, and he said that it was not the widget causing this issue. I've cleared defaults for all my calendar apps and set them again, and I still get prompted. Tapping the plus button or the title bar of these widgets will open my default calendar app (Google Calendar), but Android does not seem to save my calendar choice when clicking the event. Any fix for this? I have an LG V30 on Oreo. Edit: grammar fix [link] [comments] |
Double Beep heard every few seconds on call, can't stop it - Moto Z Play Posted: 01 Feb 2019 11:19 AM PST (I'd originally posted this on the subreddit specifically for Moto, but nobody has responded yet and it seems like this place is more active) Like the title says, my phone has suddenly started a double beep about every 6 seconds only when I am in a call(*). I have no idea what it is, and I've even tried doing both just a restart and powering down completely before starting it up again. I got my phone in September of 2016 and have not had this issue before. I am also through Verizon, which I'm not too thrilled about but I have no control over that. The last call I made prior to this beeping was the 26th and everything was fine. But today suddenly I hear it. What I've eliminated: -Notifications: I do have it set up that if someone is trying to call me or if I get a notification, my phone lets me know. And at first I thought that was it, because the beeps sound just like that or if I'm getting a call while already talking to someone. But the only "notification" was that I was in a call to begin with - and like I said, I never had an ongoing beep until today. -Data/Data Roamer: I have my data saver on, which I've always had on, but turned off for my hotspot about a week ago. Figured this was the issue, turned it back on. Did not fix the problem. My data roamer is as far as I can tell also off. -Update: the forums I looked at had people talking about this "Oreo" update, no clue what that was but my phone has no updates waiting to be downloaded. -New App: I have not downloaded any new app in the past two weeks, just deleted a couple I never used anymore. Some people said that was the problem for them. But like I said, nothing. -Showcaller App: I use this app to make it easier for me to block and identify spam callers as well as identify anyone in general who is calling me. But I have had this for a year and even with the overlay system never experienced this stupid beeping noise. -Max Volume: When I'm on speaker or in a loud area and taking a call I'll usually turn the volume up. Thought that could be the issue, turned it down. Also did nothing. At this point it's incredibly irritating because it makes it difficult to focus on what the other person is saying, especially since the beep is so much louder than the other person. I just want this to be rid of as quickly as possible. (*)IN ADDITION: Now I hear it when I'm playing music!! I have a pair of wireless headphones that use Bluetooth to connect, and it doesn't matter if I'm playing off of Spotify or my music player, every few seconds the song fades like it does when I get a notification, even though I don't have any!! This is really annoying me. I did turn off notifs and it did nothing. Also, just tried hooking my phone to my bluetooth speaker. It also has the fade in music. I used the speaker I want to say, Sunday or Monday and did not have this issue. Thanks in advance, let me know if y'all need anything else. Edit: since the first comment made me think of this, the beeping during the calls started yesterday, before I used my headphones. I don't like talking on the phone with them. Prior to yesterday I also did not notice any beeping similar to what I'm experiencing now. Edit 2: I've just realised this all started on Wednesday, and today is Friday. So not yesterday, which would have been Thursday. Ugh. This week has flown. Edit 3 (I really hope I don't have too many of these): It seems the fading in music goes away when I set my phone to "Alarms Only," which makes me convinced it's some """ghost""" notification. However I can't have my phone on Alarms Only all the time because there's calls and texts that I don't want to miss. [link] [comments] |
Screen call accidentally answers the call Posted: 01 Feb 2019 12:56 PM PST Ok, everyone is talking about how promising the new screen call feature on Android is. I agree that it's great, when it actually does it's job. 90% of the time when I hit screen call, it actually answers the call instead. As I cautiously put the phone to my ear to see if it's an actual caller, I become enraged that it's actually another spammer. Anyone else experience this? Any fix? I have a pixel 2 [link] [comments] |
How can I make my mother's new Android phone as similar to her old iPhone as possible? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 08:47 AM PST My mother has only ever had an iPhone. The simplicity and intuitiveness behind the menus helped her through the years as she is one of those much less tech savvy people. Unable to justify the expense of a new iPhone at their current price point, she's settled on a new Moto G6 to test the waters on Android. What launchers, themes, or apps can I install for her to help make her Android phone similar to iOS? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:06 PM PST I saw that Sprint is currently having a deal for the S9 for $9 a month lease but I'm thinking about waiting until the S10. Do you think the price will remain this low once the better more expensive version comes out next month? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 12:45 PM PST Hi guys, looking for help / hint on following. My Google Disc gave me announcement that it is almost full. So, I went into my Disc from my PC and used its function to show items taking up the sapce (from Settings). To my surprise all files listed there have information 0 B. Not that much space occupied after all, right? I am confused, but, maybe, I just only do not understand. Any experience / hints to this? [link] [comments] |
