At the same time I don't want this information to be sent outside of my phone and I don't want to create an account for some service. If this hypothetical app has more options it's even better, but I don't want to create account and see my informations sent everywhere. As you can expect there are so many apps when I search for walking/fitness that I'm not able to guide myself (I'm also not the kind of guy that downloads or uses apps in general, so zero experience about how to search for them, etc). This old device of mine, Lenovo K900 on Android 4.2.1 won't install Instagram x86 version downloaded from Play Store with modified permissions made with Advanced Permission Manager. No matter how many permissions l modify it just won't install if its modified in any way. What could be the problem? | Should I switch to Firefox (Focus)? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 05:36 PM PST I'm currently using Brave browser, and it seems to be doing fine for me. I don't really like having more than 2 apps that serve the same purpose, so I was wondering if it's worth switching from Brave to Firefox. I've heard about Firefox Focus, but never really investigated, is it a different app? How is it different from the "normal" one? What are the main differences between Brave and FF? Something that could potentially improve my browsing experience. A thing to note: I use FF on my PC, but I don't really care about syncing bookmarks, so I wouldn't consider that as a "must have" feature For those who don't know, Brave already has a built-in ad blocker, and it works great for me. I know it may sound silly, and it seems like they might feel the same for me, but I feel like in need of switching browsers for a change. I really liked it, especially that you could easily sync with people who are not your FB friends, and even after re-installing it also remembered which contacts you matched with which FB profile. | BetterBatteryStats Battery Usage Posted: 01 Feb 2019 12:34 PM PST Hey everyone, I recently installed BetterBatteryStats to check my wakelocks and battery usage, but noticed that out of all my apps, BBS uses the most of them all! Over a 12 hour charge, it'll hold around a half hour or so wakelock, under the WriteBootReferenceService service, and I just wanted to know if anyone else has BBS installed and experiences these wakelocks. Posted: 31 Jan 2019 08:59 PM PST With Google's Play Store policy change, all Play Store call recording apps are not going to get calls phone numbers from the system. (=every recording will be from 'unknown'). Some apps want to address that by letting the user input the number himself, per recording, this sounds very cumbersome. So I'm thinking, besides for the obvious workaround of sticking to an old app version and never updating - are there good call recording apps that are offered off the Play Store? like from F-Droid or other ways? I'm in a group of 20 or so people and we text weekly updates to each other. I realize this is a carrier issue with AT&T but I thought some apps were able to bypass this. I have Advanced Messaging on and the only results I can find on Google/Reddit are from 2017. I feel like FB Messenger will let you do this but then FB has access to ALLLL of my messages. | Calendar widgets always prompt to select a calendar app when tapping an event Posted: 01 Feb 2019 09:49 AM PST I have two calendar widgets that operate like this. I emailed the developer for one of them, and he said that it was not the widget causing this issue. I've cleared defaults for all my calendar events and set them again, and I still get promoted. Tapping the plus button or the title bar of these widgets will open my default calendar app (Google Calendar), but Android does not seem to save my calendar choice when clicking the event.
