Can I make my internet SUPER slow for a specific wifi user? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:18 PM PST I won't get into the details of how we arrived here, but long story short I need to make the internet *nearly* unusable for someone who is watching super annoying YouTube videos 24/7. I don't want to block him from using the internet or from going to YouTube, I just want to make the internet so slow for him that he can't play these videos in a continuous stream for 10 hours straight. Is there some way I can make his connection as slow as say... 1995 dial up? Please help!!! TIA. [link] [comments] |
GPU has no signal on current pc but works on another pc Posted: 02 Feb 2019 02:42 AM PST Hi, I'm currently building a new pc and having a problem. Just wondering if anyone can help or notice any mistakes I've made. Motherboard - Asus M5A99X Evo CPU - AMD FX 8350 Eight-core GPU - Gigabyte GTX 960 4GB DDR5 When connecting the gtx 960, my monitor has no signal (vga led red). I tried using my other gpu (gtx 1070) has signal which is fine. I was able to install windows 10 while using the 1070 but switching to the 960 afterwards gives me no signal again. Tried both HDMI and DVI ports. I tried using the 960 on another pc (Asrock z370 motherboard) to test if it is faulty but it has signal and displays as normal. So if anyone has any solutions, it would be great :) [link] [comments] |
Getting blue screen with disabled fullscreen optimisations in DirectX 9 games Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:50 AM PST Issue: DirectX (mainly DX 9) games causing blue screen crashes, screen flickering (even on really high frame rate), screen tearing. Error code for blue screen: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL GPU: Sapphire RX 590 Nitro +, 8 GB GDDR CPU: Ryzen 2700X Motherboard: ASUS Prime X470-Pro RAM: 8 GB DDR4 Operating system: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, latest update Radeon Software version: 19.1.2 Drivers: (these from 22.01.2019, I will edit this line once I find out again) Output: DisplayPort Fressync: doesn't affect this case in any way (tested various settings with FS off and on) Windows 10 gaming settings: All turned off Description: While playing DirectX 9 based games, screen tend to flicker. There happen lags, screen tearing, flickering, and even making the game's windows invisible, blackex out and unresponsive even though cursor is still visible and possible to move. All this happen even though the game is being rendered at high frame rate. Compatibility mode makes no thing different Tried "Disabling full screen optimisations". In case the game is built in to the launcher (e.g. Counter-strike: Global Offensive), blue screen occurs in a seconds after player finishes map loading. In case the game is not integrated with launcher (e.g. League of Legends), the blue screen occurs just in seconds after the player gets loaded on the map. Description #2: Getting HEAVILY decreased overall performance of my system. Discord, Audacity, Steam, even in Firefox. I hope anyone finds workaround/solution of/to any of my described problem, please, let them share this here. [link] [comments] |

I have a few viruses that I just cannot get rid of. (Mac) Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:10 AM PST So I've had 2 viruses for a while and one particularly annoying one that has come up of recent. The two that I've had for a while are Chill tab and Tapu Find. Every day or so it deletes my google tabs and reopens the tab as a tapufind/chill tab tab. I've deleted the applications that has anything to do with this and reset my google twice which worked for about 3 days and then went back to normal (I had not downloaded anything in that time) The one that I got recently is something I'd never heard of before. Every half hour or so a pop up comes up onto the top right of my screen with some kind of ad (Example: https://imgur.com/CuVFCKi ) Sometimes this will even blast my screen with up to 5 of them. If somebody could help me out of this predicament it would be very much appreciated, thanks. [link] [comments] |

Need help choosing the correct cable. Posted: 02 Feb 2019 04:29 AM PST So I have a wireless pair of headphones (JBL e55BT) which also has a 2.5mm jack. It also has an inbuilt microphone. My pc has 2 different jacks for audio and microphone, so I bought a 3.5 mm 2 male to 1 female audio splitter. Which cable should I buy so that I'm able to use both the audio and the mic? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 04:26 AM PST As the title says, it won't show up under accessories, and the triggers won't work in GTA V. I've spent weeks on this, and Microsoft support and rockstar support just give me trouble shooting links that don't work over and over. I'm running Windows 10 Pro, not pirated, it's a legit copy I've uninstalled and reinstalled wireless and wired drivers, and ensured they're all up to date. Ensured window 10 is up to date. I've tried two different controllers, which both work fine on my console. I've reinstalled GTA V and it's completely vanilla Similar results for wired or wireless via the Microsoft dongle for the xb1 controller. Triggers seem to work fine on other games, although with BeamNG.drive, I did have to calibrate them so they would work fully, but after that, EZ PZ. When trying to calibrate the controllers via devices and printers, it shows both triggers operating as the same axis. The Z axis, staying halfway, and goes one way or the other when the trigger is pressed. When wired, (using various different data xfer and charge cables, same results) under divices and printers, it shows under "Unspecified" as "Controller" but shows in Manage Devices under, "Xbox Peripherals" as "Xbox one controller" When using the wireless dongle, everything shows up as you'd expect. The dongle shows under devices and printers just fine, and it has its own driver. Same exact results in GTA V, Xbox accessories, and works fine in other games, as with wired. I really hope someone else has had this issue and knows a solution, I'm at my wits end with trouble shooting and ready to rip my hair out over this. Any help welcomed and greatly appreciated. If I left anything out, let me know and I'll add it in as an edit. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Please please please help I have no idea what I'm doing. Posted: 02 Feb 2019 04:18 AM PST Ok so...i've tried to download a few different games from steam. And like two from other websies. And it keeps giving me the same thing that I don't understand. It all seems so overly complicated for no reason. It says I have to "unzip" the file? There's always something in there called *name of game*.exe along with something else called unityplayer.dll. I think i've figured out that im supposed to hit that big blue extract button. And that's worked for a couple games and everything went fine. But not for most. I keep getting a thing that says unityplayer.dll is not on my computer even though it seems to come with the files every time. As you can probably tell I'm absolutely illiterate when it comes to how computers really work. I do not have the slightest clue what's going on here. I hope I've given enough clues so that someone smarter than me knows what I'm talking about. And if someone can walk me through exactly what I'm supposed to do step by step I would love you forever. All these file names and error messages just look like a bunch of overcomplicated gibberish to me. I can't make heads or tails of any of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Why on earth can't i just hit one big button that says "download" and be done with it? What the fuck is the point of all this? It's infuriating. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2019 04:16 AM PST My Windows Store won't install apps and keeps saying it can't install and will try again later. In my experience, being behind on updates can cause this so I went to Windows Update and now I keep getting this error. I've tried running the update troubleshooter but that can't find anything wrong and I've also restarted my machine a few times. Obviously I am connected to the internet. Any ideas? I'm running the buggy 1809 build rather than 1803 if that makes any difference. [link] [comments] |

Acer Aspire E15 E5 575G Keyboard is, at times, almost entirely unresponsive Posted: 02 Feb 2019 04:07 AM PST Problem: Keyboad stops responding to pressing keys. It is immensely unresponsive. For example, pressing a key very forcefully sometimes makes it respond. Other times pressing for example F9 and then one key does let me write that one key so I theoretically could write like this: F9 -> H -> F9 -> E -> F9-> L-> F9-> L-> F9->O Short term workarounds that help : Pressing every F Key(1 - 12): Unreliable. When I do this it does fix it at times and I can then write again without much interference. I press them like when you sit at a piano and then hit every key in one swoop. I am sorry I can't explain it better than that. Windows Updates: After a Windows Update the problem often does not occur for quite a while(days, maybe a week) There was some setting I altered that seemed to fix it also for a short period of time but I did not find it again Connecting a bluetooth keyboard works without issues and I am able to write without any interference Driver Updates and reinstalling the keyboard NEVER worked Probable cause: Stuck keys. If the F keys or for example the print key are stuck this might interfere with the rest of the keyboard working, as far as I read it and since pressing through a bunch of them seems to fix it at times, this sounds possible to me Another hint towards this idea: When I booted up World of Warcraft the other night, I found another hint towards stuck keys at play. At one point I was moving the character, suddenly the Keyboard did not respond anymore but my character kept running onward. Then again I never encountered a situation in which I was typing and then a barrage of for example "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" occured. This text was entirely written with the notebook keyboard, so it does work in many cases. Questions: Did you you ever encounter anything similar? Did you fix it? How did you fix it? What is the fastest way to clean a notebook keyboard without removing each key? As a sidenote to this question: I already removed the R Key and it took me about 15 minutes to get it back to working normally again because I accidentally removed also the hinge beneath it, I would like to circumvent this as I am not the most graceful at games like Dr. Bibber and in turn at fixing really tiny elements of a computer. I am grateful for any input you might have! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2019 04:04 AM PST I've disabled every backup task I don't need, I've disabled startup tasks that don't NEED to be there, I've cleaned up every file I don't need, and still my laptop sounds like a jet engine when opening up. I open task manager and my Disk is at 💯. I don't know how to clear it up as everything running is stating 0MB/s, EVERYTHING! I've cleaned up all dust around and inside the laptop too, I have no clue how to fix it. I'm not really a tech savvy guy either, so please don't bash me down if I was missing anything. Personal search for an android phone. How do I delete it?! Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:53 AM PST I am using an android phone and I have no clue on Earth on how to delete personal searches. I don't exactly like the fact that if someone looks through my phone and finds my google account, they will know EVERYTHING! My contacts, undeletable (I mean that I don't know how to delete it) history, ect., all of that in one place! For the love of god, how do I delete this? I can't find anywhere on how to delete it. I specifically want to turn off the personal search history if possible, or just how to delete it. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Weird red light seen on the side of my Laptop Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:34 AM PST So I have Lenovo Y50-70 which is almost 5 years old. When using the laptop during the first 3 years since the time of it's purchase, there has never been a red light seen on the right side of the laptop till last year. I had booted up the laptop after a long time (around 5 months) and now I'm seeing this weird red light. Any idea what this could mean? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:32 AM PST Relevant info: Vega 64 GPU Samsung C27JG5x (1440p, 144 Hz) Deltaco 2m DisplayPort 1.2 cable (rated 21.6 Gb/s) Win10 Recently got my new screen after a move. First I used the HDMI cable that came with the screen but that only gave me 60 Hz for some reason. Went to the store and bought a new DP cable instead. No signal is identified/recognised. Tried all ports in the GPU without success. Is there something that I've missed? Issue resolved: I literally just pulled out the cable and switched ends. And now it works. Because that makes sense. High DPC Latency, Audio Dropouts, Stuttering Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:23 AM PST The issue has been here for months and I've kinda ignored it but its driving me insane now any help would be hugely appreciated. Basically I've been having some problems with DPC Latency for a while. My whole PC lags and stutters seemingly randomly, could be as soon as I log in, using some music production software or watching a youtube video. Audio stutters and pops and drops out entirely, its an extremely frustrating problem. I re-installed windows and the problems seemed to disappear for a short while. Once I installed some drivers and other music production software the problem shortly reappeared, however it was a lot less severe than before. When I run latencymon it shows that a windows native driver is the cause of the majority of the latency, that driver being "wdf01000.sys." When I google this driver I can't find many helpful results, and it doesn't seem to be an option to remove it. Some other important information that I can't figure out the cause of. When these latency issues appear my GPU Clock speed maxes out. So the next thing I did was go to device manager and disable my GPU from the "display adaptors" tab, and as a result the issue disappears. I'm not sure what this is doing; does it disable my gpu completely? The issue came when I was watching videos or using music production software and now they run so much better, the problem still pops up very rarely. However as a result some new issues arose like screen tearing which my GPU was handling using Freesync. I haven't tested whether game performance has been affected as I don't really game. So I've come to the conclusion that the GPU might the source of the problem, or some GPU related driver. I'm pretty certain it isn't hardware related because this problem appeared on my old GPU which I had RMA'd for a broken bearing in the fan. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest GPU drivers, even trying some older ones that are meant to be more effecient. None of this worked. Below my Specs I've added the report from LatencyMon. Any help would be greatly appreciated! PS4 turns receiver on after TV turns off Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:21 AM PST I'm struggling with this curious HDMI CEC issue with my TV/PS4. Any help is appreciated. Devices involved: - Samsung UE49KS7000U - PS4 Pro - AppleTV 4K - Denon AVR-X1300W Connections: - Receiver connected to TV through HDMI ARC - AppleTV connected to TV through HDMI - PS4 connected to TV through HDMI Issue: When putting the AppleTV to sleep, the TV correctly shuts down, and the receiver correctly shuts down. About 10 seconds passes by and then the receiver suddenly turns on again. Nothing else turns on. Another ~40 seconds passes by and then the receiver shuts down again. Temporary fix: Disconnecting the PS4 from the TV. My thoughts: I suspect, the PS4 somehow makes the TV switch to the input of the PS4, when no other input is active, which for whichever reason triggers the TV to turn on the receiver. I have no idea what causes the timing of these events though. HDMI CEC is enabled on all devices. I have tried turning it off in the various combinations available, but nothing solved it. What is particularly puzzling is that the PS4 is turned off - it's not in standby. [link] [comments] |
Mic stops working after being active for 1-2 minutes Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:12 AM PST So this is a rather annoying problem i've gotten. I recently bought a new computer, and i can't get the mic on my headset to work properly. Within 2 minutes of turning on my BOSE QC35 wireless bluetooth headset, the mic stops working. When using discord everything is working fine, and then suddenly i it stops working and i get a message that it no longer is recieving any input. It does not have anything to do with discord as i get the same result with skype, aswell as just watching the audio input in windows. Disconnecting my headset, and then reconnecting it again will fix the problem, but the mic will always stop working again within 2 minutes. It does not happen on my laptop so i'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the headset, and the sound output works fine, so it shouldn't be any issue with the bluetooth connection. I've tried fiddeling with drivers so i don't THINK thats the issue either, but i'm far from confident in that one. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:07 AM PST It seems to happen only when playing Fifa (it previsouly happened when playing GW2 but i haven't played that recently) For Fifa it only happens during certain events, e.g. in a match or during contract negotiations, every other part of the game are menus that dont have an affect. This issue does not affect other games e.g. world of warcraft or league of legends. There are no issues in these games what so ever. Previously I had this issue and it was solved by pulling out my vga to hdmi adapter and putting it back in, that solution doesn't seem to be working now. Here is the issue on one screen and on two screens. The monitors are Phillips (sorry the model escapes me) One is VGA(monitor) to DVI(adapter to input to pc) and the other is VGA(monitor) to HDMI(adapter to input to pc). [link] [comments] |
Can anyone help with my damaged Mac screen? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:06 AM PST Hi Guys. The other day I dropped my mac onto the floor and luckily it was in a protective case, but the screen has come loose at the bottom right hand corner. The screen is fixed to the mac fine everywhere else except the bottom corner. Everything works fine on the mac. The hinge and clips at the back of the mac have come loose as well. Any tips? Thanks Guys [link] [comments] |
Fiberhome Router DHCP Service Not Serving IP's Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:03 AM PST I have a Fiberhome AN5506-04 that I am testing (not connected to the Internet). I am able to log into the admin accout and have full access to the webserver GUI. I've noticed that the router has two issues. - First issue is that the DHCP Server won't give out IP addresses: The router gives a message warning that the settings take effect after a reboot. I am rebooting the router after enabling the DHCP service via the "device reboot" in the "device management" tab in the GUI. Then using the C:\ipconfig /release /renew commands in a DOS box on my laptop to test. It's timing out and then giving me the usual message that "an error occurred while renewing,......unable to contact your DHCP server....." - Second issue is that when I power the router down using the power button at the back, it loses all the settings in the config and reverts back to default factory settings. I can't find anything wrong with the router other than the above issues and it seems to work fine. I've set a static IP on the laptop and I am accessing the GUI via ethernet cable connected to the LAN1 port on the router. I could also access the GIU via wifi. I am also able to telnet into the router and use the CLI to configure it. There is also a console connection on the router's mainboard that is available should working via console cable be required. (For example using a HEXeditor for firmware) If anyone has any suggestions for me to help solve this issue please let me know. [link] [comments] |
Computer Case's USB Ports stopped working. Posted: 02 Feb 2019 03:01 AM PST Product: HP Omen Gaming PC Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit) More than a year ago, I bought the HP Omen Gaming PC and I like it except for the case design. So recently, I decided to upgrade the computer's case. After upgrading it, the USB ports on the new case/in front or top of the case stopped working. This is what it said when I tried to plug something into the not working ports: Power Surge on the USB port, Unknown USB device needs more power than port can supply. The USB ports that are on top of the motherboard/behind the computer are fine, they work. At first, I thought the USB ports are not working because my power supply doesn't have enough power or I have a trash motherboard but then I realized, all the USB ports on my old/original computer case work properly so I guess the motherboard and the power supply are not the problems. I tried contacting the Microsoft support, they told me to troubleshoot my devices, uninstalling and upgrading my USB controllers but none of them work. I don't know what else I can do.
