    OP5 latest update issues

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 10:22 AM PST

I recently updated my OP5 and now it's getting sluggish. The fingerprint reader is unresponsive at times and does not read my fingerprint correctly fairly often now. When I have to hit the power button sometimes I have to hit it 4 or 5 times before my screen wakes up. Also, at times the screen will wake up randomly when my phone is just sitting there. Any help Reddit?

    another snapchat optimization thread

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 08:30 AM PST

    Hi all,

I know snapchat is notoriously terrible on android devices but since upgrading the op6 (from op3) I am a little disappointed.

The camera on the 6 is fucking phenomenal, the camera app is great and pictures are better than most of my friends using iPhones. However in snapchat, the front facing camera uses a weird ratio that makes everything blown up (hard to take selfies / portrait style pics). I've read that Pixels have the ability to force something in the dev options to improve this, but I do not see it on op6 (stock ROM).

Does anyone have a fix for this to change the aspect ratio of pics in snapchat? Can anyone suggest ANYTHING that might improve this? Front facing pics in the op3 seemed to have a normal aspect ratio, but it's not the case on op6.

Any tips for improving snapchat use? Battery usage appears to be down on op6 and the UI is butter smooth, it's just the camera that I have a problem with.

    Thanks all!

Let's talk "Scheduled Power On/Off": Is it good for long-term battery life and your phone?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 02:28 PM PST

This is a feature that not many people talk about and I wondered how it affects my phone in the long term.

I assume many people just don't know about the feature and some also want their phone to be active at night. But I guess some use it and maybe did some research?

    Tempered glass over screen protector

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 04:16 PM PST

My oneplus 6t just came in and I noticed that it has a screen protector. Should I remove it before installing the tempered glass, keep it, or install the tempered glass over it?

OnePlus 6t on Verizon is trash

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 07:12 PM PST

Ok. Let me clarify - the phone is fantastic. It's the best phone I've ever used. Screen, camera, battery life are all phenomenal; BUT - the lack of support from OnePlus and Verizon is ridiculous. To clarify - this is an unlocked TMobile device on the Verizon network.

    The quirks are as follows:

    • phone goes into RTT mode on every phone call so voice is muted for the first 5 seconds or so. Also does not allow keypad entry on phone calls which is wildly inconvenient.

    • No calls or text over WiFi

    • Message+ is limited to 300 stored messages and no auto restore

I'm so bummed out. I'd been hanging on to my LG G5 and thought I'd found a reasonably priced flagship. Now I'm looking at spending more money to get a Pixel, which doesn't seem as good.

Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions?

About to jump on the Oneplus 6 train, thinking about future battery problems.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 11:32 AM PST

I'm planning on getting 256GB model (wish I could get the 128GB model but nowhere in my country has that in stock). I hope make this phone last 5 years. But undoubtedly there comes a point in time where i would have to deal with battery deterioration. when that time comes, how am i to deal with it? Does oneplus still provide battery replacement for you guys with older phones?

    Text problem with Android 9.0

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 05:53 PM PST

Recently I updated my OP5 (6GB RAM, 64GB Storage) to Android 9.0. I noticed pretty soon after that when I went into a conversation with a specific person, it caused my text application to crash.

I'm wondering whether it's related to how many texts I've sent to this person as they're my most texted contact.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated :)

P.S battery definitely still drains faster compared to Android Oreo

Serious flaw with Battery Optimisation - Cannot exclude Gmail, leads to missing email notifications

    Posted: 29 Jan 2019 11:45 PM PST

With Inbox being retired in March, I'm in the process of moving everything back to Gmail.

One problem - OOS has set Gmail to "optimise" battery use and because it's a system app, there's no way to change that (not that I can see, any help appreciated if I'm missing something). It's not in the list of apps under battery optimisation on my OP3.

I thought I was missing email notifications despite having label notifications turned on, and this is why.

This is something OnePlus needs to fix by March, but considering a Google has turned up posts about this from months ago, with no solution in sight, I'm not expecting them to do anything.

Bad screen protection with back glass skin/foil?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 04:40 PM PST

I have red carbon foil/skin on the back glass of my OP6 . I bought original nylon case and i just want to verify is it just my subjective opinion or does that skin affect how phone fits in the case? It seems to me that back skin adds much to the thickness of the phone, so that original case is not protecting front glass enough (as it would without a back skin).

Anyone with similar experiences? Should i remove the back skin?

How do I change the phone number under About Phone > Status?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 04:02 PM PST

This isn't my number. I believe it shows this number because I transfer my actual number to this SIM when I changed networks way back when. Is there a way to edit this? It's annoying when filling out forms and it keeps offering this number as a default

No fullscreen with miracast on tv (OP6)

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:50 PM PST

Every time I cast my screen on to the tv with the OP6 in landscape mode, it's never fullscreen. I always see black bars around the edges. How do I fix this?

    Contacts not transferred over

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:18 PM PST

Hi, just got my OP6T and used OP Switch to transfer over my contacts, and to my dismay, none of my contacts have transferred over that weren't already on my google account. What should I do? My contacts must be on iCloud or something.

Edit: Redid OnePlus switch contacts only and it worked perfectly.

OnePlus 5T Podcasts & Spotify randomly pausing

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 11:32 AM PST

Within the last 10 days or so podcasts played through Pocket Casts and music played through Spotify have been randomly pausing, whether downloaded or streaming. Is this a common issue? Any idea why this is happening?

Is it worth keeping the screen protector on the OnePlus 6t?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 02:25 PM PST

I've found that it just gets really greasy and picks up fingerprints easy, would there be any noticeable difference and would it put my phone at any more risk?

    I'm currently running OB 3 and can't get OB4

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 01:51 PM PST

I'm currently using OB3 on my 6T. I've tried using different VPNs to try and download it but haven't had any luck. I've looked on OP's website to download it and install it from there but it's not showing. Is there another work around for this?

Need drop proof my 6T. What case do you recommend?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 10:04 AM PST

I am clumsy and often drop by phones, in the past I have used otterbox and ballistic cases with great success. What cases are out there that will protect my brand new 6T from myself?

Also I have never used tempered glass protectors, are these recommended for the 6T?

[OP5T] I'm done waiting for a lag fix. Recommend me a custom ROM

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 07:35 AM PST

Title. Since updating to Pie my 5T has lag and stuttering issues throughout the day. I've tried every fix possible and nothing helped, so I decided to move to a custom ROM. Which one do you recommend? I would highly appreciate it if the ROM will be using the OOS camera. I tried GCam in the past and it's too unstable for my liking.

    Thanks!
