Need help recovering pictures from disabled iPod Touch Posted: 29 Jan 2019 08:11 PM PST My kid has locked herself out of her iPod touch permanently as far as I can tell. After some research, I have not found any way to save the pictures and videos before performing a factory reset. There are vacation pictures from Disney and such that I'd like to keep if possible. Is there some sort of software or exploit I can use? I believe it is one of the first Touch iPods to be made, definitely at least 4 years old. [link] [comments] |

Google+ APIs shutdown and google-api-php-client Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:29 AM PST Today I received an email regarding the gradual shutdown of Google+ APIs. In a Lumen API project I am using the google-api-php-client package in order to validate the google access tokens for users registering via Google Sign-In. I really can't find anywhere if the google-api-php-client is using Google+ APIs in order to sign-in and therefore I will have to replace my code. I already opened an issue but any help is appreciated. Regarding the Google+ API shutdown: January 29: On January 29, we sent an email regarding projects that will be impacted by the Google+ API shutdown. The email stated that projects requesting the "plus.me" scope would be affected. We would like to clarify that only projects directly requesting the "plus.me" scope are affected. If you are directly requesting the "plus.me" scope, any other Google+ OAuth scopes, or making any Google+ API calls ensure that you remove these requests from your project before March 7, 2019. To see if your project is directly requesting the "plus.me" or any other Google+ OAuth scopes:
January 15: This posting was updated with new information about OAuth scopes. [link] [comments] |
How to Become Completely Anonymous in this Digital Age (Again) Posted: 30 Jan 2019 02:42 AM PST I know this is a big question. I have followed the Chris Watts case and especially in case of the mistress, who, albeit guilty of hooking up with a married guy, is innocent regarding the horrible triple murder, I was shocked to see that her phone content, browser history etc. got public!! She has no privacy anymore and had to enter a witness protection program. She lost her life. It got me thinking... The Internet knows everything about me. Google has so much data stored. My phone provider has it stored as well, I suppose. So they know everything. (Not that I wasn't aware before, but never considered the gravity of it.) Including personal problems, illnesses, places I have been etc. No point denying that: EVERYTHING! As long as no one cares, that's fine. But maybe one day, someone will care. Not expecting an easy answer, and searching for it in the web didn't really help. But does any of you guys think there could be a way to A completely erase one's digital history and B keep it anonymous in the future in this day and age? (Other than finding every item that is used to store digital data anywhere in the world and throwing it into hot lava?)... [link] [comments] |
PC Reddit: Intermittently changes from Night to Light mode. Posted: 29 Jan 2019 03:44 AM PST I don't know what the hell is going on but here's the thing. Whenever I click on a post, be it with video, text or whatever, it goes into light mode and I have to refresh every damned time. I'm kind of getting tired of it, as light mode burns my eyes, and I'm wondering if there is a fix around it. Hopefully I'm not the only one experiencing this. [link] [comments] |

Issue with Window Search index not updating removed or recently added programs even after rebuild. Posted: 30 Jan 2019 04:17 AM PST ISSUE I have an issue where my Windows Search index isn't removing uninstalled programs or adding newly installed programs to the index. The index seems to update fine with regular files, e.g. if I downloaded a zip file and placed it anywhere it would find it properly, but it's been stuck with the program list I had from many months ago still. I changed some settings a long time ago to remove some of the unnecessary features of Windows 10, but I wouldn't be sure what would cause pretty much everything else other than programs to update in the index.
EXAMPLES If I search Logitech, no mouse software appears. I have to go to the "All apps" list and scroll down to open it. If I search for LatencyMon, a program I have already uninstalled, it still appears. I am not able to left click, or even right click it to get a file location. It says it's a Desktop app, maybe that is important. - https://i.imgur.com/PJe5TyT.png An old AMD Settings program appears with no icon it seems. I am not able to click on it either. - https://i.imgur.com/9BsGjjb.png If I search Visual Studio, nothing appears even though if I search Audacity and go to it's location, they are both located in the Start Menu/Programs folder. I installed Audacity a long time ago, however. It seems really spotty whether or not new Desktop shortcuts appear in the search list. If I search for DiRT Rally or UniFi, no programs appear, only folders. If I search Monster Hunter or Mafia, their shortcuts appear properly.
WHAT I TRIED I have the option set to let apps run in the background. I have rebuilt my index to make sure it wasn't out of date. I think I have the proper index locations added. This is what my index locations look like - https://i.imgur.com/tdjM460.png
If anyone knows what the issue could be, I would really appreciate the help. [link] [comments] |

Aced xz721 backlight not working Posted: 30 Jan 2019 04:01 AM PST Hi there! 2 days ago I bought a 27" curved xz721 monitor (not a laptop) from officeworks, and today I was playing a game on it and the screen died. Long story short I've tried turning it off and on again and same with my computer and I've come to the conclusion that my backlights failed, as I can see a dim image with a torch. Is there a simple fix? Do I need to take this back to officeworks? Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Trojan Or Virus Survives Formatting Of Drives, Unclear On How It Keeps Getting Back In. Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:57 AM PST Hey so for the past year+ iv been dealing with some personal attacker trying to take my passwords, Again. They succeeded once and that was a real pain to deal with. Anyways, The "symptoms" my system did leading up to when i discovered i got all my passwords stolen are re-appearing, Up until now iv reinstalled and wiped my drives but right now, Malwarebytes premium just turned off real time protection and steam just got turned off while i was playing Overwatch. This was a common thing that progressively keeps happening until it's once every couple hours leading up to my passwords being stolen. Iv scanned my system, Repaired my install numerous times, Wiped external drives and ditched everything, Only installed Steam, BattleNet and firefox with ublock origin, Still comes back. Starting to become helpless on this situation. Oddly enough too my steam decided 50%+ of my library needed updates but only like 3 actually had a game update. Rest were 0/0bytes. My "downloaded items" literally is always big name stuff, i mainly visit big name sites like youtube, crunchyroll, reddit etc. i don't use any email or anything on the PC itself, i turned off remote access awhile back. Speaking of which i just checked and remote assistance was on... Turned that off. tl;dr: Virus keeps getting back in and it like, turns programs off and steals my info. Formatting and reinstalling windows 10 does not help, I do not have a sync system like dropbox or something, Only Steam, BatteNet, Discord, Firefox with uBlock Origin, Malwarebytes Premium. Edit: Can a malware infected system be infecting my PC through the network? I dare not to touch my parents PC due to its... Well it runs like poop to put it simply. [link] [comments] |
Geforce Experience not detecting latest drivers. Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:56 AM PST I apologise if this isn't the correct place to ask. On my laptop, Geforce Experience is stuck on driver 388.71, from 20/12/2017. I've tried re-downloading and re-installing the program, but it doesn't register any newer drivers than that one. Searching online, I couldn't find anyone else with the same issue. Over time this has made more and more games tell me to update my drivers every time I launch them, and I'm sure it's impacting performance on newer titles as well. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks :) Using Windows 10 latest build as of posting this. Laptop: Acer Aspire VX 15 i7 7700HQ 16GB RAM GTX 1050 1TB HDD [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jan 2019 12:06 AM PST Heya. For some reason, my F5 key only works when pressing Ctrl+F5. It worked fine before. I think this may have occurred after I did a factory reset on my PC, I just noticed it now as I'm playing a game where I need F5 and it only works when pressing Ctrl+F5 (not only in game, also in Chrome, etc.). I have no idea how to fix it, but it is really frustrating... I am using Windows 8.1. Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
I need a computer screen to connect to my laptop... Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:50 AM PST I need a computer screen to connect to my laptop. There is one in flea I saw which cost 50 euros, with HDMI connector already but it cost 50 euros and it is expensive for me. I am on the budget. There is one HP computer screen I found online, cost 15 euros, but no HDMI connector, but I also found a VGA - HDMI adapter which cost 5 euros. So with the HP computer screen and the adapter, it only cost me 20 euros. Will it be better to buy the HP screen and the adapter? Or is it better quality to use the already built HDMI connector in computer screen? :) [link] [comments] |
How do I add a bluetooth dongle is my computer already has internal Bluetooth? Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:45 AM PST I have a desktop that doesn't get the best Bluetooth reception to my keyboard. It's about 12ft away against a wall. I purchased a Bluetooth dongle to insert on the top front USB port so there's a clear lobe of sight connection. How do I make windows use that as the primary Bluetooth antenna and not the internal motherboard one? When I go to add a Bluetooth device that antenna is not available. [link] [comments] |
CPU suddenly stucking at 0.39 GHz (15% load) Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:43 AM PST I have this laptop for over 2 years but this is a recent problem, Im using it for college stuff and casual gaming and never had any problems until recently. For some reason when gaming the CPU suddenly drops to 0.39 GHz and will not go over 15% load even if I close all demanding programs. The only fix so far is restarting and hoping it will not happen again. I've noticed that reducing the quality settings in games helps decreasing the risk of happening but still happens from time to time and usualy 2 or 3 times in a row after reopening the game. Overheating is not a problem I've checked the temperatures and it never goes over 60 C (before I had a cooler sometimes even reached 90 C but even then the performance was still unafected.) (worh mentioning I have a lot of stuff plugged in): headset, gaming mouse, usb hub, external hdd, coolerpad. Specs: SATELLITE P50-C OS Version Microsoft Windows 10 Home Single Language 10.0.17134 BIOS Version 1.70 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz Physical Memory 16384MB RAM SSD Video Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 Version=24.20.100.6286 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M Version=25.21.14.1771 [link] [comments] |

Thermal paste on my laptop; no difference in thermals Posted: 29 Jan 2019 09:40 PM PST I have a one year old ASUS VivoBook laptop and I was having around 78-85°C of temperature on my CPU so I went to a local service center to get my laptop cleaned, and thermal paste to be re-applied(assuming ASUS actually applied decent thermal paste to start with) using a Noctua NT-H1 that I bought. So yea, after leaving my laptop for a few hours and going back to the service center to retrieve it(along with the leftover thermal paste I bought), I immediately went home to try it out. So far, no difference in thermals whatsoever. Also, for some reason it was already empty? https://i.imgur.com/vW3oZ32.jpg; Written in the back says that it should be good for at least 15 applications. Am I duped or what? I knew I should've done it myself, but I was too scared I was going to mess something up when unscrewing stuff. ------ I phoned them, asking why the thermal paste went empty immediately. Technician said that it's because the thermal paste was applied to 3 parts. Alright, but is it that alot for the 1.4ml thermal paste(that is said in the box to be good for at least 15 applications) to run out completely? [link] [comments] |
Windows 10 explorer not responding Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:19 AM PST Hi, everytime I start up my PC, the explorer becomes unresponsive after about 5s and eats a lot of CPU. Any idea how to fix this? I have to restart explorer.exe and then it behaves normally. I'm on latest Windows updates, free of malware. https://imgur.com/a/JnfTAh8 [link] [comments] |
No sound Chrome, doesn't show up in volume mixer either Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:19 AM PST Since this morning my Chrome doesn't have sound on my default speakers anymore. Everything worked perfectly fine yesterday night but when I launched it this morning no sound came out. There's no chrome in the volume mixer either when I am using my speakers. However when I switch to my headset chrome magically starts working. I have updated all my drivers, reset/reinstalled chrome and updated windows. I have no clue what else to do as Google doesn't get my farther either atm. Hopefully you guys can help me! EDIT: Sound does work on Edge and Firefox, I just prefer Chrome, so hopefully we can fix this. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:08 AM PST Hi guys! I recently switched my media PC to a sweet new case. The fan in question came with the case. When I power on the fan jiggles for a moment and then does not run. I have it plugged directly into the mobo to the proper 3 pin slot. Is it possible this fan is too much for my old eMachines mobo? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Not sure what’s happening or what I should do (debit card compromised) Posted: 29 Jan 2019 07:30 PM PST Hey guys... not sure if this is the right place to post, but I'd give it a shot here. So, my debit card has been charged about 2 times within 3-4 months for a decent amount of money. The charges were both "Ach debit commenity pay". Both times have been relatively close to when I bought items online on my computer. I got a new card and my money back after the first time and thought everything would be ok, but it happened again recently. I'm afraid my computer has been "hacked"(MacBook), but I wanted to hear your guys opinions on what I should do. Would wiping my computer clean be any help? I want to also get a password manager but I don't know if that will help at the moment. Very frustrated as I really have no idea why this keeps happening. Let me know if you need any more information! Edit: I got a new credit card about 2 weeks ago [link] [comments] |
