Left an Iphoner with a confused feeling.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 01:47 PM PST

So today while at work cafeteria grabbing breakfast, there was a sign on the "order" machine saying:" tap does not work". As my turn comes to pay, I pull up my phone to pay, the person behind me in line ( the Iphoner) yells: "The tap does not work!, its says on that paper!". I ignore him, hold my phone next to the payment terminal, and the payment goes through (because of MST). and I hear that person go:" what the hell??!! how is that possible?", I couldn't help but say: "Samsung" and nothing but mumbling came out of him as I walked away.

    Edit: correction, MST not MSB

I hate "journalists" like this. He's criticizing Samsung for something that hasn't yet happened, and at the end admits he doesn't know if it WILL happen at all!

PSA: Unlocked S9 From Samsung.com Has WiFi Calling Feature (Verizon)

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 02:12 AM PST

I snagged the $480 Black Friday promo for the Samsung S9 on Samsung.com to upgrade my old S8. I couldn't find a definitive answer online before it arrived about WiFi Calling and wanted to share in case anyone was interested.

On the Verizon branded S8, you had the "Advanced Features" option in Settings to enable Wifi Calling.

On the Samsung.com Unlocked S9 I received, the "Advanced Features" was absent so after some digging around, I found the WiFi Calling option in the settings of the Phone Dialer app itself where you make calls. At the very bottom, you should see the option to enable WiFi Calling.

Just wanted to share this information in case anyone else was searching for the same thing I did. I did not do anything Verizon related to achieve this. No "My Verizon" app. No extra Verizon bloatware.

For those with a carrier branded version, you might be able to flash a new unlocked firmware to remove all the bloat and spyware. I can only speak for Verizon though. Feel free to chime in if all the other carrier features worked for other ones.

Issues with Samsung S9 and Gear Icon X

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 04:16 AM PST

Hi! I got the Samsung S9 and the Gear Icon X earphones about two months ago. I have been eperiencing multiple issues that i feel should not be in a two month old phone. I have listed them beneath.

    S9

Battery dying very fast, need to charge phone 2-3 times a day to last until evening

Once i unplugged charger at 100% and one hour later of just playing music i was at 37%

    Internet connection drops randomly

    Random lags, sometimes for seconds

    Gear icon x 2018

    Stutters

Sound delays multiple seconds at times

One headphone is at maybe 10% volume of the other

Sometimes connects and drains battery when in the case

Did any of you have similar issues? Do you know fixes for them? If i need to claim faulty products where can i do this? I live in Sweden and got the phone through a carrier called Telenor.

Disabling bixby button without any app , explained

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 01:07 AM PST

Okay , so i am seeing a lot of posts about how to disable bixby button , and ppl here are recommending some package disablers and so on; Look guys , all you have to do is to swipe right on your home screen , that will opet bixby home page , then in the top right corner you will find 3 dots menu, press it and go into the settings and disable "bixby voice" , after that go back to your bixby home page and again in top right corner just uncheck "bixby key" and THATS IT. Your bixby button wont open anything when you press it or hold it .

Does the s8 have the same face scanner as an s9?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 03:00 AM PST

Hey all, so I'm an iPhone user but have wanted the s9 for a long time.

I own a company that's given me the ability to get another phone and use it purely for that, so I'm considering buying the s8 as I've been told it's pretty much identical bar a few features that I won't use.

Is the face scanner the same on both phones, or better on the s9? And is there any major things that are worth the extra £100-150?

    Thank you!

    S9+ battery lately

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 08:46 AM PST

I've had my s9+ since it came out and I have loved every second with it, but the last month or so the battery life has dropped off dramatically. It drops almost 30% in an hour just listening to music. I've heard that some other people have been having this issue, anyone know of a way to alleviate this problem?

they took the home button away, now you have to slide it to reveal it and I hate it

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 08:29 PM PST

IDK if software updates applies to all models or if they are model specific, but I have the S9 and the latest update really left me hating my phone. There used to be a switch app button, a home button and a back button at the bottom. Now they've made them floating so you must swipe up to reveal them, then you can press them. and I absolutely hate my phone now because almost everything is now a two step process. wanna go back a page on the internet? two steps. wanna use "hey google"? two steps, change apps? two steps.

So before I literally could hit the home button w/o looking and thats not possible. I have to look at the phone to swipe it because your window to swipe is very narrow, half the time I end up just scrolling up in whatever app I'm in instead of opening up the home button. Using your phone while driving is always a bad idea but at least I could Hey google, call my girlfriend. But I cant even do that because I have to swipe up to get to the home button to hold it down. Scrolling the internet is frustrating because every time i go to a new page and wanna go back, I gotta do steps.

And the worst part is I cant see any upside to this. What is gained by this? an extra 1/8th of an inch on whats already one of the biggest screens out there? I contacted Samsung to ask if theres an option to disable this/revert back to a regular home button and the answer is no (though I'm don't trust the person in tech support, they sounded very inexperienced). Anyway, I know its a #firstworldproblem but I really hate this new "enhancement"

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 04:45 PM PST

I do. I've had an S6 and currently have an S9, but nothing has felt as special as my S3 did.

How do you feel? Miss yours, don't? I wanna know!

Just curious. Maybe a stupid question.

    Samsung pay card issue.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 09:15 PM PST

I really want to start using Samsung pay as I love the MST feature, and how you can use it at pretty much any machine now, but I can not add my debit card at all. I have a BMO MC debit (which works on Google pay), but doesnt work at all on Samsung pay. I looked on their site and it says my card is supported but doesnt work.. any ideas?

    Keyboard colors

    Posted: 30 Nov 2018 08:32 PM PST

Just bought an S9 plus, and I cannot believe how hard it has been to find a theme with a good mix of colors for the keyboard. I'm looking for white text, grey keys, slightly darker gray background. Can anyone help me out? I tried gboard and others, but I prefer the layout of the default samsung keys.

Seriously Samsung, its 2018 - give us color options for the keyboard.
