    Hi,

Just got my 6t and the Bluetooth mic won't work in the car or with my headphones (Sony 1000xm2). When I make a call, I can hear the other party but they can't hear me.

I've tried resetting network followed by wiping cache. Any suggestions?

Fingerprint scanner 'unavailable' in some apps - reboot fixes it

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 09:45 AM PST

So... I've had my phone for 2 days and am very impressed with the FOD. However, sometimes some apps won't let me use the finger print scanner to login to the app. The fingerprint-icon is on the screen, but is darker than usual. It's working fine to unlock the phone, but not in the apps.

Apps are banking apps, government apps (for classified personal documents) and LastPass. Actually the only apps I have in need of login on opening.

Rebooting the phone fixes it for a couple of hours.

Im on 9.0.6 global - not rooted or anything.

I can't seem to find any posts regarding this.

    Any suggestions?

Edit: when trying to place finger on scanner it scans and gives error 'finger moved away too fast. Try again'

How to tell if a replacement screen is OEM.

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 11:04 AM PST

I smashed my op5 screen the other day and required a totally new one, the amoled was broken too.

I did some research and a lot of the replacements offered apparently come with an LCD display instead of the original spec AMOLED.

So I ended up going with a well reviewed company in the UK called Replace Base.

They offer OEM screens and aftermarket ones.

I payed for an OEM one and ended up breaking it - they had installed a home button already but not correctly, it was raised on one edge - and I destroyed the screen trying to fix that.

I went in yesterday and they very kindly replaced it due to their faulty installation of the home button - even though I had then destroyed it.

Since I've installed everything and it is functional I actually have doubts that what they gave me was an OEM part, but Infact one of their aftermarket ones.

Apart from the AMOLED, which it definitely does have, is there any real way to determine that it is an OEM part instead of an aftermarket one?

    OnePlus dash charger question

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 12:49 PM PST

    Hi guys.

I just switched from S9 to OP6 and the phone is amazing.

In the box I recieved the US dash charger (I am in Bosnia so OP doesn't ship here), and I bought a small physical EU adapter for 5$.

The phone charges fast (it says "rapidly charging"), so I just want to check is it safe to charge the phone via adapter like this?

    Thanks.

If I buy the OnePlus 6t from the OnePlus store, will the phone still be able use T-Mobile's 600 MHz spectrum?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 11:08 AM PST

I use T-Mobile and want to purchase a OnePlus 6t. I see that the device is compatible with T-Mobile's 600 MHz spectrum. Will my device still be able to use this LTE frequency band if I buy it from the OnePlus store and not the T-Mobile store?

    Thank you!

[6T] Are all your files in TWRP encrypted? Use this:

Flash this TWRP; not blu_spark's. This worked for me. Thanks to u/beaver2233 for providing me with the solution.

Can we get the notorious Caffeine Mode tile from Lineage OS?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 06:06 AM PST

For the people who don't know what Caffeine Mode is:

It's a Quick Tile, tapping on which enables the phone screen to be awake for longer periods of time (like 10 minutes, 30 minutes, etc). It helps when we are reading a document (or notes for students) by not turning off the screen.

This has been a Lineage OS thing.

There are apps on Play Store that do so. But after the Pie Update, since Pie Optimizes battery more aggressively, none of the top rated apps worked as expected.

I searched for threads regarding this feature (on the OP Community App) and found 2 closed threads, one suggested to use 3rd party app(not working anymore) and another not so useful thread.

If any OP6 users on Pie have found out a workaround, then I need to know.

Anyone else still getting full brightness from double tap to wake when finger print unlocking?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 01:44 PM PST

When I double tap to wake and try to fingerprint unlock my screen will go full screen to read the print and blind me.

If I disable double tap and just wake using power button, only my finger scanner will brighten up which seems like the intended design.

    VPNs not working properly [6T]

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 02:13 PM PST

TLDR: VPNs don't work. Any suggestions?

[SOLVED. SEE BELOW] My school has an aggressive WiFi blocking policy. It blocks DNS requests by category. As an example of how aggressive it is, it blocks things like "technology" and "forums". We've complained to our IT dept and Dean about it, but were told that it's out of their hands and that we have to speak to the IT dept at the school's headquarters (we're a chain). I get around it by rerouting my DNS requests via a VPN. This works on all my devices except for my 6T. Other devices are Chromebook, Galaxy S8, and iPhone. I've tried multiple VPNs but nothing works on my 6T. I don't get any errors, it just doesn't work. When I visit a blocked page I get Google's privacy warning page, informing me that my data is being tracked and that I cannot advance due to safety concerns. I get this on my other devices when I'm not using a VPN. Would really appreciate any solutions. Thanks!

Edit: SOLVED! By default, the device is set to ignore 3rd party DNS providers, rendering VPNs useless. I changed the settings to "automatic" and it's all good. See the comment below by u/slickdevil1 for details.

You can manually adjust app buckets in developer settings

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 06:19 AM PST

Search/go to "Standby apps" in settings with developer settings turned on to see which 'bucket' each app falls under. Under Pie they are organised into Active, Working Set, Frequent, and Rare automatically by Android system.

    Documentation is here:

    https://developer.android.com/topic/performance/appstandby#active-bucket

You can manually adjust the Pie battery optimisations if you think the machine learning is getting it wrong. Interestingly the Google app is always in the active bucket no matter how many times you set it.

anyone know how to supress the messanger messages and (i think theyre called) heads popping up?

i think the mode sees messanger as a "phone" and bypasses the supress mode.

Without the brick, is the OnePlus charging cable as fast as any other USB-C charging cable?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 05:24 PM PST

I'm looking to get more charging cables for my 6T, and the OnePlus ones are too expensive and don't come in the lengths I need them.

My question is, will the third-party charging cable charge as fast as the OnePlus charging cable (without the brick, just the cable)? Most of my charging is done through either my computer or through my car, so the brick is pretty useless to me.

    Thanks.

Random notification sounds although its on vibrate and I have notification sounds set to none

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 07:14 AM PST

For starters I have a Oneplus 6t, the issue is that I don't want to have to actually turn off notifications for some of these things, like google weather for example. It's nice getting an occasional update, I however don't want to have to disable notifications from it entirely. There isn't an option for the notification sound for a lot of these apps, including that weather notification, so I have no idea where it's coming from. I've never liked any notification sounds, and I honestly like my phone on vibrate most of the time as I will always feel it going off, I have misophonia so the constant blip noises drive me mad and I don't want to have my phone on silent as I won't know when I get messages anymore.

I've had to disable quite a bit of notifications, but if there's a way around this if really appreciate it. Also, just a few minutes ago (and a half hour or so ago too) I actually heard the same notification sound and there wasn't any notifications. The one that just happened seemed to happen as I unlocked my phone, I didn't have anything in my notification bar or anything at all, it may however, have just been a coincidence. I would extremely appreciate it if someone had a solution to this as disabling notifications won't stop the sounds that come with no notifications.

OnePlus 6t "Ok Google" not working and other issues

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 08:18 PM PST

So I don't personally own the 6t my friend does but she doesn't use Reddit.

As the title suggest Google Assistants voice recognition isn't working even though we have recalibrated it multiple times, restrated the phone, and even uninstalled the Google Application.

Another thing I've noticed is that the phone gets really warm when charging w/ dashcharge( haven't tried a normal charger). I don't have a surface temperature thermometer but it's definitely hotter than when my 5t is charging.

I just want to know if people have encountered these issues or just my friend. She just received her phone earlier this week so I'm it's still possible to exchange but I want to be a last resort

[VZW; 6T] Anyone on Verizon able to use WiFi calling/SMS?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 02:27 PM PST

Verizon supports text and VoWIFI. I used it frequently on my S8 since I dorm at school. I just kept WiFi and airplane mode on. I saved battery, and was able to call and text. Obviously the 6T wasn't purchased through Verizon, so I'd understand if that won't work. Just wondering if anyone got it to work.

So if I use the 6T on Verizon, and have Verizon activate the CDMA-less feature so that everything works, will I have any issues if I switch the SIM to another phone like the Galaxy S9+?

How do I block promotional text messages without using a third party app?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 06:05 AM PST

Hi, I've been getting spam sms from various "numbers" for a week now, the latest being this. They keep sending me the same text again and again, there is no number at the top but some letters in place of the sender, and apparently no way to stop them from coming.

I've tried blocking them through the messages app. I tried blocking them through the phone app. But they still keep coming. Is there a way to block these sms without using a third party app? Most of my OTPs and other confidential passwords are being sent via sms so I don't want apps like truecaller or others to have access to my text messages. But at the same time, constant texts like these annoy the fuck out of me. Is there anyway to stop them?

I have a 5T, if that matters at all. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I don't close out apps unless they become buggy

    Posted: 01 Dec 2018 05:52 AM PST

But I've been noticing that a lot of my apps are getting closed out of RAM regardless. I'd this the adaptive battery, and should it just be disabled at this point?
