Messenger forcing you to invite new people to be able to see who's online

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 08:32 AM PST

So facebook just started forcing you to invite people to their app, or start a conversation with someone new in order to see who's online. They're basically saying "Either use our application constantly or don't bother opening it"
    Screenshot

This is unnaceptable, forcing their own users to talk to random people or invite other just to see if the person you actually want to talk to is online. So much for a "free app".

I’m purchasing the same app over & over in Google play.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2018 09:55 PM PST

In July of last year I purchased "Package Disabler" from Google play for 2.50 & again in April I'm purchasing the same app & I'm saying to myself dam I know I purchased this app already but whatever I purchased it again. Then, 2 days ago I'm cleaning up my apps & I uninstalled the app by accident so I went in play Store & was gonna download it again, only they're telling me to pay again so I went into my inbox and found my receipt of purchase & sure enough I had purchased on three separate occasions. I in-boxed the developer & this is what he said: "I'm very sorry, Samsung blocks our play store app to promote their bloatware so we are left with no options. If you don't factory reset your devices you app should keep working. Another option is to buy the app from our website that is never blocked by Samsung." Has anyone ever heard of this? Has this happened to anyone? I think before purchasing, they should warn people. I spend money on apps, I buy pro versions even if I don't need it, just to support the developer. I'm helping & supporting you & your taking advantage, that's how I feel.

[DEV] Any Language Learner? Try My Reading Assist And Anki Card Creator

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 06:39 AM PST

Hi, if you've ever try to read in a new language, you'd know it's a huge pain in the ass to look up words with your fat thumb on a small screen. That's why I created an app to help relief that pain. It's called ReadDict.

More specifically, there are 3 main functionalities:

    1. Text tokenizer: For languages which do not use white space as a word barrier (Chinese, Japanese) it is really tricky to know which character belong to which word. ReadDict use specialized tokenizers to pick up the word for you, which make reading those text much easier. Example:
    2. 1 click look up: For any language, the definition of any word in just 1 tap away. User can use any dictionary site they want.
    3. Flashcard with context: The best way to learn new word is with flashcard, and the best way to create flash card is with context in which the word is used. ReadDict will add your new vocab to Anki with context sentence. The word itself is highlighted so you can recognize it in a glance.

    Watch it in action

Download it for free on Google Play here or just simply search for "ReadDict".

This is my first app. It started out as a personal project to deal with many issues I encountered while learning a foreign language. The process of coding this app is much ... much longer and harder than I anticipated. But I am proud of the finished app because I believe it brings real value to learners :)

Can you guys give me some feedback? How can I improve it? Thanks a lot.

Manually adding a deep shortcut as a user defined intent in More Shortcuts?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 12:10 PM PST

So in this particular case, I want to add a shortcut to Pie Control that launches directly to Walmart Pay. Nova Launcher can create a home screen shortcut that launches WP directly, and by backing up my Nova settings and digging through it I found how exactly it launches it.

    Pay# Intent; action=android.intent.action.MAIN; category=com.android.launcher3.DEEP_SHORTCUT; launchFlags=0x10200000; package=com.walmart.android; component=com.walmart.android/.app.main.MainActivity; l.profile=-1; S.shortcut_id=pay; end

So my question is now, any idea how to implement this as a shortcut in More Shortcuts? I see there is an option for adding user defined intents, but the data fields it allows are

Action Category Data Type Package Class

And in my ignorance of how deep shortcuts & intents function I'm not sure how to make this work. Any advice?

Best camera app for rooted Kindle Fire

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 12:04 PM PST

Sorry for the ignorance. I'm an iPhone person modding a Kindle Fire for a low-tech family member as a Christmas present. The native camera app on the Kindle has never no options.

Can anyone recommend a free app that works on a Kindle Fire? Ideally better focus options an maybe even some filters

    Link to the app

PD: This is my first post here, so forgive me if I broke some rules or I did something wrong.

App to cast from phone browser to TV?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 04:18 AM PST

    Hi,

I'm looking for an app that can cast the content from the browser on my phone to my TV, specifically a Roku box. I've been using "Web Video Cast" and it does work I find it to be pretty unresponsive. Just wondering if there's anything better out there. Most of the casting apps I come across can only play local content

Looking for a multi-step timer similar to Timeglass for iOS

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 11:48 AM PST

Looking for suggestions for a nice multi-step timer similar to Timeglass for iOS.

I've tried a number of apps so far, but without much luck. The closest thing I've found is Multi Stage Timer 2.

Basically just wanting something that lets me create a timer with multiple steps (at different lengths). Say a 20 minute overall timer, but an alarm might go off 2 minutes in, then 5 minutes later, then 3 minutes after that, etc. Found various workout/yoga timers, but they mostly seem to only do set intervals for reps (Say every 2 minutes).

Another nice feature would be getting to set the alarm noise, so I could have something play for quite a few seconds to catch my attention. A few of the apps I've found just do a small beep.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Looking For An "Fake" work radio replacement

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 11:12 AM PST

At my work we are allowed to listen to the public radio. Which is more luxury than i'm sure a lot of work places get. However, we are way out of city limits and inside a steel building so we get one radio signal for the most part. Which is on oldies station so not too bad. But it still gets repetitive. So far, CDs/MP3 players since the last time asking have been unapproved for the work environment.

So what i'm looking for is essentially a playlist that can occasionally play a specific track once every two or 3 songs (aka a recording of the public radio stations title broadcast/commercial). I wont go wild with the music selection. I've got no problem with oldies. It would just be nice to not hear the hit wonders all the time and actually listen to the other 5 good songs on the same album.

i know I can probably do this by hand but i'd prefer a more automated selection if possible. Then i'll just use an FM tuner and keep my phone relatively close by to play it on our work radio.

Help about a riddle game we have developed [DEV]

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:42 AM PST

    Hello everyone!

We are a brand new developing team and we have just created a very hard but addictive puzzle game.In this game the user has a keyboard and of course his mind(also a little search over the internet) in order to solve a series of hard riddles and puzzles. We would appreciate any feedback and opinion regarding this game.

    • Certainly we would like to give us a feedback whether you liked the game or not?
    • Which riddles are better? Those who have an image as a question OR those who have a text?
    • Do you think the difficulty is scaled properly among the levels?
    • Also if the sequence of the levels is right regarding its level difficulty. We tried to scale the difficulty starting from easy ones to some more difficult. Most of the users stuck in the early game and complain. Our opinion is that the game is for anyone who wants to spend time with it. The game is : Abstract

Thanks!!! Feel free to review the game and answer our questions!

    Galaxy Tab S4 App Security

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 10:30 AM PST

I'm considering getting a Tab S4 and wondering that since the S4 does not have a fingerprint reader and uses facial recognition/iris scanning, how would you log into banking apps that typically use fingerprints. Would I need to type in the passwords or does the device change it to facial login.

    Thanks

Need Advise on Spam Calls blocking apps?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 09:52 AM PST

Hello everyone After receiving a bunch of spam calls recently I've decided that I want to download a call blocking/filtering app. like most people I get the usual telemarketing calls now and then but I just switch phones and my new phone does not have a block feature that prevents the same caller from calling me again. Which was how I stopped most of these calls from calling me again. So I went on and search the web and found 3 free candidates, Should I Answer, Hiya and Reverd . Not sure which one to pick and if they are safe to use. I am also open to other apps and don't mind paying a one time fee is they are better. l just want help stopping the telemarketing calls. Thanks

    [DEV][Android 4.0+] Morpion V2 (Tic Tac Toe)

    Posted: 29 Nov 2018 05:29 AM PST

    Hi

You can test my new app Android:

Title : Morpion V2 (Tic Tac Toe)

Morpion V2 (Tic Tac Toe) is an improvement of the Morpion V1 that I already published.

In this new Morpion, you can now play against the computer or at 1 VS 1 with your friends

The interface has also been improved.

The Morpion is a game in which you must play in turn by placing Xs or Os in boxes.

    The 1st that aligns 3 "X" or 3 "O" wins the game.

    Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sospc95.Morpion_V2

    Install it and test it

Looking for an app that allows android to android screen sharing with control over local WiFi. Any suggestions?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2018 09:53 PM PST

I've used teamviewer but it requires internet. Splash top allows you to use your local network but I can only mirror my PC to my android device. Your only app that that does something remotely remotely similar is a app that only allows you to view their screen only shows your movements the the other device but gives no control. Thanks in advance.
