Security warning from Google about my Hotmail account? Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:26 PM PDT I figure it must be because the Hotmail account is used for recovery. But I got the following message: Sign-in attempt was blocked xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com Someone just used your password to try to sign in to your account. Google blocked them, but you should check what happened. The link provided is from Google: https://accounts.google.com/AccountChooser?Email=xxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com&continue=https://myaccount.google.com/alert/nt/ [additional text deleted] When I click on the link, it takes me to a Google login page, with my Hotmail account autofilled for the email address. I've never tried to login using the Google portal for Hotmail, and I'm not sure I want to try. I checked my Google "Details" link, and there have been no failed attempts at logging in for >24 hours. So, I checked the Microsoft Live page for account activity, and other than some POP3 activity from Mailwasher checking the account, the only unusual activity is from SMTP attempts (one from Brazil, one from Chile, two from Poland, one from Malaysia, all "Unsuccessful sync" attempts). Changed the Hotmail password, of course. But I am curious as to whether I should click the Google link and check the activity. The URL looks legit. I'm just hesitant to put in my Hotmail password into Google. Wouldn't work anyway, would it? The alert came in at 3:29 AM; there does not seem to be any corresponding activity in the Microsoft Live nor the Google Details, so I have no idea what the attempt actually was. Same model of RAM memory sticks, no video output. Posted: 28 Jul 2018 07:35 PM PDT Hello everyone, i've been having issues while trying to upgrade my memory and i've barely got any feedback on any other post on this issue. I've had the same 4GB of ram for awhile, over 3-4 years, and recently i've gone and bought another one, exact same model (Kingston KVR13N9S8/4), but whenever i try and boot my pc, there is no video output. None of the stick layouts i've tried output any video at all, only when i have my old ram stick solo it works. The thing is,my first line of thought was: "oh it must be a bad stick", so i came back to the store and refunded since they didn't have the same model in stock, but only after they sent me to another place to check if there was really no video, in which they have confirmed. 1 week later (today), i've went and bought a new one, different store, and had the same issues, came back, swapped for yet another stick, from the same model, and lo and behold: the exact same thing happened. I've already tried doing a CMOS clear multiple times at the bios menu, unplugging then reapplying the mobo battery and using the jumper, to no success. The first new ram i used once got video, but only when it had the old ram in Channel 0, slot 1, and it on Channel 0 slot 2. My mobo didnt detect it though, it was as if it didn't exist. Used Memtest to try and troubleshoot but it only confirmed that it wasn't detected. That one ram stick was the first that i've refunded though, and i realize now that it was a bad idea so i imediately tried on the other configs and havent tried dual-channel since. I can get a refund up until monday (07/30), but i can't think its a coincidence that 3 different sticks aren't working while i have an older stick from the exact same model running the pc i'm using to type this reddit post. Could someone help me? Procedures that i've already tried: -Clear CMOS using BIOS, Jumper and Battery methods -Updating BIOS to the latest stable release for this mobo (Version F7 for a GA-970a-UD3 Rev 1.2) I might have figured something out for one of the reasons why i'm having issues: The older stick on its label has the module assembly n° of 99U5474 - 028.A00LF, while the newer one is 99U5471 - 025.A00LF. So does that mean it's a newer or different version of the same model of memory stick, and with this update it became incompatible? Or is it mere coincidence? Laptop- No post/boot/beeps/codes Posted: 28 Jul 2018 09:00 PM PDT I have a Dell Precision M6800 i7 quad core I was in the middle of playing WoW one day and the system immediately shut down. Absolutely no warning signs. It was warm, but definitely not overheated. It gives me no beeps or codes or anything to help solve the issue. Here's what it does: Battery only: push power button and the power led on left side and on the button itself turns on. Then roughly 10-15 seconds later all leds flash one really quickly and then it's off. The screen never changes. AC adapter only: similar outcome, except the charging led on the top left and left side are lit up until the flash and everything goes out. AC+battery: same as ac only. I have followed the no post guides on Dell's forums and before I go any further I figured I would ask the pros. The only component I have removed and tested and put back is the ram. If I hold the "d" key and power button simultaneously the fans come on and the screen goes through the LCD test charging colors etc. when it's done everything shuts down. If I hold the "fn" key and power button it does the single flash and shut off even while I'm holding them down. My gut is telling me the mobo is bad, but the lcd test makes me doubt that. It seems like everything is working during the test, then when the test is over boom nothing it just turns off. Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
