Help with crashed Windows Movie Maker Posted: 31 Jul 2018 01:20 PM PDT Hi all, I was working on a windows movie project, and all was fine until about 2 hours in. I try to reopen the file, and I am asked to restore my project (as it previously closed unexpectedly), which I do. It reopens my project, but then freezes and closes the app. All my graphics drivers are up to date and I run on Windows 10. I looked in event viewer and found this error: Faulting application name: MovieMaker.exe, version: 16.4.3528.331, time stamp: 0x533a401b Faulting module name: amdocl.dll, version: 24.20.12019.1010, time stamp: 0x5b464bc5 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0002f799 Faulting process ID: 0x26e8 Faulting application start time: 0x01d4290ae0b338be Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\MovieMaker.exe) Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\c0331246.inf_amd64_7dbd15b8c381571a\B330925\amdocl.dll) Report ID: b101303a-4843-469a-aaf4-42cb62ace552 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Does anyone know what this means, or how to fix this? Posted: 31 Jul 2018 09:16 AM PDT Hello everyone, I'm trying to made some script with PowerShell to interact with Microsoft Graph API. While playing with Graph Explorer, however, as I'm trying to do it with PowerShell, it's more complicated. I invoke the rest method, and I have to prodive a Token. If I use : https://github.com/microsoftgraph/powershell-intune-samples there is a get token everywhere, wich is working, however, it's asking for admin credentials at launch. I'm trying to create a token with a registered app with appId and secret key. However, as I'm trying to do something, I have Invoke-RestMethod : The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. Is it possible to pass through admin credentials or we need them to do some actions ? Thank you, [link] [comments]
suddenly find my laptop has restarted, anyway to know what happened? Posted: 31 Jul 2018 05:23 PM PDT Is there a way to track what happened? I though it might have been overheating but I log temps and the average was 50-60C. Any other ideas? Win 10 Edu [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jul 2018 06:13 AM PDT Ok, so I need an explanation of how to setup the MDT and then use it to deploy Windows 10. I have to use this tool to deploy an upgrade to about 600+ machines in my company and I have been given this project. We dont have SCCM either (which I also dont know how to set up anyway). I have seen reference pages and some videos but they are missing the process of setting the beginning part up and I am lost with all this. Is there anyone that can send me a detailed link or give me info on how to create all this? [link] [comments]
Is it worth it to seek a Windows 10 Enterprise VL agreement or would it be better to just use Pro? Posted: 31 Jul 2018 02:39 PM PDT The thing is, I don't want MS installing apps without my consent, don't want them to steal tons of data (I know Enterprise doesn't completely eliminate it, but it greatly reduces it) and I'd be OK with going with an LTSB version or slightly outdated version if it means the bloat is mostly gone. Edit: I plan to use it for more "consumer" things like gaming and web browsing , but also for software development [link] [comments]

Is there a way to use two other laptops as extended monitors with Windows 10? Posted: 31 Jul 2018 05:44 AM PDT Is there a way to use two other laptops as extended monitors with Windows 10? Right now I seem to only be able to connect one at a time. The other one disconnects on queue. I'm wondering if someone out there knows a way to make this work. I know that if I use the extend feature and then an IPAD everything seems to work [link] [comments]
I bought my Windows laptop from a store, now I want to try out another OS Posted: 31 Jul 2018 10:13 AM PDT If I don't like the other OS, can I go back to Windows without any license trouble? I do have a legit Windows 10 copy. It should detect my motherboard and install Windows without asking for a license key, RIGHT? I don't have money to buy a Windows license so I don't want it to go wrong if I decide to go back to Windows. [link] [comments]
Making USB installer for clean Windows install on WD-Black M.2 500GB SSD Posted: 31 Jul 2018 06:27 AM PDT Possibly a silly question, but I don't want to get this wrong, and I'm having troubles finding recent/reliable/consistent advice on other forums etc. As the title suggests, I'm going to be creating a USB Installer to install Windows 10 Pro on my new Wd-Black M.2 500GB SSD. The software I'm using to create the USB Installer (Rufus I think) asks me if I want to use MBR or GPT when partitioning, and also asks if the USB should be formatted as exFAT, FAT32, or NTFS. I'm honestly not sure what might happen if I get this wrong, so I was hoping someone here could advise me what might be the best approach. My Mobo is a Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming G1 with the BIOS flashed to update it to F5, which, afaik, is the update that made the M.2 compatibility more reliable, so I'm 82% sure that my machine supports M.2 boot drives, but please feel free to correct me on this. Thanks in advance for any advice! Update: Guys, thanks a million, I now have Windows 10 successfully installed on my M.2. Thanks for the advice! [link] [comments]

Is it strange to have a certain amount of nostalgia for windows XP? Posted: 31 Jul 2018 06:21 AM PDT ok, so when i was a kid, my pc ran windows xp. we used that same pc for probably 6 or 7 years before i upgraded to a windows 7 laptop of my own. so, because of it, i get kinda nostalgic for windows xp somehow. i know the newer versions are more secure and have some other stuff which makes them nicer, but i'm still kinda nostalgic for the visuals somehow. Posted: 31 Jul 2018 08:53 AM PDT Hi I need help with something I want to set up for several computers on both a domain, and workgroups. I want to disable Windows Firewall (Domain,Public,Private) To do this, is it easier to export/import a Local Group Policy setting, or by figuring out a Powershell login script. The Firewall should be turned off for all users who login. We have extremely strong network firewalls running currently so the Windows Firewall is sort of extraneous. So with a Local policy I would need to do this job once. Same as manually editing with Local GPO Editor. With a script, i'm wondering if this would need to be added to the login script/startup script list. Thanks [link] [comments]

Windows 10 RDP slowness over LAN Posted: 30 Jul 2018 08:49 PM PDT I am at a loss for troubleshooting my performance issue with windows 10 RDP. The issue - Actions such as user interface element refreshes are very slow and take several seconds to update over RDP. For example, when I click to close a draft email in outlook and the popup occurs asking me to save the buttons and the box are greyed out for 2-3 seconds before it updates. I have tried the following and nothing really seems to make a big impact: 1 - Using auto quality select in the windows rdp client 2 - Disabled all of the settings under performence/experience 3 - I've tried all the bandwidth settings as well (note, i'm going over a wired lan in the same switch and there is definitely no connectivity issue) My laptop is on the same physical network and gigabit switch as my desktop Both are running windows 10 enterprise fully patched as of 7/30/2018. Laptop - Windows surface laptop (brand new and loaded with memory and dedicated GPU) Desktop - Core i7 with dedicated GPU Both systems show less than 20% cpu utilization Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is a huge productivity impediment! Help with resizing my Sound Control Panel Posted: 30 Jul 2018 09:28 PM PDT When I go change the sounds of windows sound scheme It will only show a portion of what should be shown. I've looked up online vigorously to see what I can to do have it display all the info that it shows for others and I don't know what it could be. A Possible reason for this is because I had changed the regular font on my computer and tried to reset it back but failed to change all of the fonts back to the default. I will link the video I found out how to change the fonts from if that would help. other than that one thing I don't have any other possible reasons for it to have a problem. So If anyone has a way that I can change the font back to the original Default or another solution to the fix I would greatly appreciate it. https://youtu.be/9StuDERVKi0 TL;DR My Sound control panel is cutting off text and options and i think it has to do with the default font I tried to change.
