Stuck in a startup repair loop. Cannot boot windows correctly Posted: 30 May 2018 10:56 PM PDT I'm running Windows 7 and after I turned my pc on today I haven't been able to log in or boot windows properly. The startup repair tool hasn't been able to fix my problem, the chkdsk command revealed there were no bad zones(I believe that's what they are called), and using the sfc scannow command revealed I have a corrupt file but it can't do anything about it. I then tried to use the dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, and it gives me error 50 saying "dism does not support servicing windows PE with the /online option." I now officially need help. Sound crashes on reasonably new laptop. Posted: 31 May 2018 12:51 AM PDT When I use more than one program that plays sound I hear a loud fog horn-ish noise. Then the sound for the program I opened doesn't work until reopened. This generally happens when using discord and a game or SoundCloud and a game. Audio still plays in the original program. Posted: 30 May 2018 09:45 PM PDT Hey, I'm not sure if I'm in the right subreddit, but here it goes: in terms of mbps and required bandwidth, what would I need for 2-4 devices surfing the web, online gaming and 1-2 tvs streaming 4k content? I'll more than likely have my living room tv and my computer hardwired. I have an option for fios 100/100, gigabyte or comcast with 250. [link] [comments]
Tomorrow is my final day at my job. What's a good way to delete everything I did on the computer? Posted: 30 May 2018 09:40 PM PDT I was notified 3 weeks that I will be laid off. I want to know the best way to delete everything I did over the past 3 years so they won't have any reason to deny my unemployment. I never went to any porn sites or any malicious sites. I only looked at amazon, youtube, espn, google, facebook, and steam. But it's better to be safe than sorry, right?> [link] [comments]
I Require more Umf! CPU Usage is really high and GPU usage is really low. Posted: 30 May 2018 05:03 PM PDT Hi there, My FPS in games seems to be troubled by the fact that my CPU usage is always hovering and often reaching 100%, yet my GPU remains at about 40%. It seems the ideal scenario would be to have vice versa usages, which never happens. It is solely the game that uses up all the CPU usage so nothing is interfering with it. If my CPU usage was lower surely it would allow my GPU usage to increase, giving me much more FPS than I get. I'd love to get more umf since I'm running a 144hz monitor. I've tried a load of solutions, nothing has quite worked. I remember a while back I fiddled with my CPU cooler and it fixed the issue for a day or two. Continuous fiddling and purchase of a better new heat sink for CPU hasn't changed much. My FPS BF1; 50-70 AC Origins 35-50 (game known for performance issues I know) Star Wars BF2; 50-70 Batman Arkham Knight; 55-70 GTA V; 55-70 Specs; Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 Intel i5-4690k 3.9Ghz 16GB RAM Thanks in Advance. :D [link] [comments]
Seagate Hard drive not showing up on Mac Posted: 30 May 2018 05:00 PM PDT I was watching a movie today and my computer and hard drive fell. Nothing major, just a few feet. Anyway, my computer closed and my external hard drive fell out. Keeping my fingers crossed, I plugged it back in and kept watching my movie. For the first couple minutes everything was fine. Then the movie froze and VLC wouldn't close. I force quit it and tried to eject my hard drive. It did the fading thing that it does before it ejects, but nothing happened. It starts whirring and beeping. I try to open another folder and the contents won't load. I got worried and tried to restart my computer. My computer started fine, but now the hard drive won't pop up anywhere that I can find. It still lights up and starts spinning like it's supposed to, but nothings happening. I'd really appreciate any help. I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) and a Seagate Portable External Hard Drive USB. [link] [comments] |
