Computer Techs Tech Support Scam - they're not even trying anymore! |
Tech Support Scam - they're not even trying anymore! Posted: 01 May 2018 11:42 AM PDT So a PC rolled through my shop today that had fallen victim to one of the Tech Support Scammers. We've all seen these by the dozen but this one was at least a little interesting. There was a toolbar in the taskbar with the text "My Tech (then a phone number)". The source of this toolbar was a subfolder in the user's documents folder called "Security Tools". Within there was a batch file that was surely used to convince the user while the scammer was on the phone that some technical magic was happening. The batch file was named "Anti-hacking IP blocker". Take a look at the nonsense within: It doesn't take a coding expert to see what it does. [link] [comments] |
My Mini GTX 970 is factory OC, so much that it crashes Posted: 01 May 2018 03:02 PM PDT I have this GPU for a few years now and I've used MSI Afterburner to manually dial down the GPU clock so it won't crash every time I get into a 3D game. Is there a way to turn if down permanently? Thanks [link] [comments] |
