ComiXology SD card not working Posted: 02 May 2018 05:41 PM PDT So I have an SD card setup as internal storage. However, when I use comiXology and try to download a comic, I don't get a prompt to save to the SD card. Just straight to my internal storage. I'm using a K1 Nvidia tablet. I had it working at one point, but then it stopped. I factory reset the tablet and re-mounted the SD card. SD card shows up under storage and I can move other apps to it. No luck with ComiXology though. Any ideas or anyone have similar issues? [link] [comments] |
Galaxy S8 Active randomly opening apps Posted: 02 May 2018 07:17 PM PDT I've searched the Google machine with not much luck... My S8 will take spells where it just randomly opens an app every few minutes. In the course of typing this up, I've had to stop to close Insta, my State Farm app, settings, and Candy Camera. There is no rhyme or reason to what app it opens. What can be causing this? It's very frustrating. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2018 07:49 PM PDT Last time I got a phone I walked away from how absurdly expensive flagships phones can be and got a solid mid range phone. I have loved it and never looked back. What do you think are the best mid range/sub 400 dollar phones? [link] [comments] |
What is this icon? I can't find any reference to it anywhere... Posted: 02 May 2018 03:48 PM PDT Galaxy S8 plus Verizon I've tried looking for it all over and can't seem to find any reference to it. [link] [comments] |
Play Store downloads seemingly take forever, but eventually download Posted: 02 May 2018 08:22 PM PDT I kept trying to apply three rather small updates and saw that it kept doing the little spinning thing with no number on it. I tried everything that was suggested to fix a hanging download. Readding Google accounts, clearing app data for several apps (Play Store, Downloads, Download Manager, Play Services), reinstalling the Play Store, installing the latest security update, and probably something else I didn't think of. My last resort was just hitting update and hoping it'd work eventually. It worked within 30 minutes in the background. As a test, I installed an app six minutes ago from when this post goes live, and I'll edit when it finishes up and note the timestamp of when it was successfully installed. Edit: it's been 40 minutes with no dice [link] [comments] |
How to Change Data Billing Cycle in settings to Day instead of Month? Posted: 02 May 2018 08:18 PM PDT In India all the mobile operators provide Data in cycles per day . Like 1.5GB/Day or 2GB/Day . So setting Monthly Limit is useless in these cases . But Andriod by default has data billing cycle set to Month . Is there any way i can change it to Day instead of month . I tried putting this in the FeedBack for Andriod but no one responded . Thanks in Andvance P.S : My phone is rooted and I am on Resurrection Remix , is there any Mod that can enable or provide this ? Downloaded a rogue apk by accident. Did I compromise my phone? Posted: 02 May 2018 09:41 AM PDT I downloaded what I though was a beta version of a new app but it turned out to be something else entirely. When I launched the APK I got a popup asking to provide device administrator privileges. I cancelled out of that and went through my installed apps list. Turns out the APK wasnt really the beta app and Im pretty sure it was malware. When I went through my installed apps list I only found one app sticking out and it was an app with no name and I uninstalled it. I went through my phones folders and found one mentioning a lock screen which I dont use and deleted that as well. Is my phone safe or should I factory reset? I didnt give the app any permissions, though when I went to uninstall it, the settings said it was already running. Im running Marshmallow 6 with a security update from 10/17 [link] [comments] |
My phone having major charging problems Posted: 02 May 2018 07:54 PM PDT HTC ON A9 ROOTED My phone frankly had been a little bitch lately, excuse my French. So here's my slightly specific and strange issue: Charging from my portable battery causes my phone screen to be consistently on, I'm pretty sure it's because the charge is disconnecting and reconnecting every few seconds. My first rational thought was to replace my portable battery, I'm using an Anker 20100mAh portable charger, so I contacted their support and asked if I could get mine replaced, they sent me a new one, without asking for my old one back (Anker is awesome). But using my new portable charger, I have the same problem. So now I'm, 99.9% sure my phone is the problem. The weirder part is, when plugged into any outlet, these problems disappear, except for a slow charging. Now, I'm thinking of replacing the battery, but I'm wondering if there's some software solutions. Is there a way to keep my screen from waking up when plugging it in? Software solutions to slow charging? [link] [comments] |
Can I keep security/privacy up to date on a 4yo phone w/ custom ROM? Posted: 02 May 2018 10:35 PM PDT I've had the same Verizon HTC one m8 for 4 years now. I'm reluctant to give it up because: unlocked bootloader + custom ROMs & apps, and cheap replacement parts when I drop and/or soak the thing. Plus the sound, sensors and processor are plenty adequate for my purposes. However, I have a growing concern that using older hardware (whether stock or custom ROM) would leave one more prone to malware or other intrusions. First off, is this a valid concern (more than with any newer phone I mean)? And if so, is there a recommended procedure for keeping older hardware updated? I don't want to give up the capabilities of my current kernal and apps, though I do imagine stock would be safer, yes? Thanks, and forgive me if this seems obvious.. I'm much more knowledgeable on matters of electronics hardware, software not so much. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2018 09:44 PM PDT I used to use a 2010 android (unnamed for security reasons) running 2.1 in 2017. For some retarded reason l visited the CIAs website with it. After a few minutes there the browser crashed. I bet they injected some type of trojan into it while I was there right? The reason l kept using it is because 2.1 is immune to stagefright. All versions above 2.2 are affected and shit. Now use an s3 modified to run oreo. I dont even know if that is safe. [link] [comments] |
Would my carrier notice if I did this? Posted: 02 May 2018 08:22 PM PDT I want to buy a used android phone and install a custom android system on it (like LineageOS for example) and then have my number connected to the phone. Would my carrier ever notice if I installed the custom system beforehand? My carrier is Sprint btw. [link] [comments] |
How does the "Background Data" setting in an apps Android settings work? Posted: 02 May 2018 06:49 AM PDT I've set my Pandora app to "Background Data" disabled. I opened the app while driving today and it started to stream music. This makes sense seeing as the app was in the foreground. I pressed home with the assumption that the app would eventually stop streaming as it has no access to Background data. After 20 minutes of streaming, I checked and saw the apps background data count had gone from 0.0 to 32.4MB. Essentially, is the background data setting for an app useless? How does it work? Using Google Pixel XL in Project Fi network. Edit: typo [link] [comments] |

How to change "dialer" background Posted: 02 May 2018 06:33 PM PDT I found this amazing theme for my phone. I applied it to change my text color, folder icons, and text massage layout. However it also added a background to my dialer (where you input phone numbers). I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change this background. Any one know how to change this? Can you enable microphone text-to-speech on a headset? Galaxy S7. Posted: 02 May 2018 05:23 PM PDT I have to use my cell phone for work to make orders and send them in. It is a lot of typing and I prefer to use Text-to-Speech (the little microphone button). Is there a headset (Bluetooth or cord) that will allow me to press the button and enable the Text-to-Speech? Is this feature available, and is it in the options? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2018 01:01 PM PDT So I recently upgraded my Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) to Android 7.0 and it's been causing a lot of bugs recently. It worked fine before without ever causing me to restart the phone. -Now it takes ages to open the gallery; -I can't delete some images (they always come back after I reopen the gallery); -It keeps notifying me that the SD card is unsupported and asks to format it while I have a lot of useful files there, but that gets fixed as soon as I eject and insert the SD card back; -It keeps storing new images on the device even though I have tons of storage on my card. I change that setting in the camera options, but it switches back after some time. Anyone else keeps having these problem? It's really irritating and I don't know what to do now, would a bug report do anything? [link] [comments] |
I'm struggling with deploying a tensorflow model on my android app Posted: 02 May 2018 04:45 PM PDT Hey tensorflows I'm idriss a second year software engineer student in Morocco. And I have an android project it's principle goal is the zoom for impaired people. So for that I found an open source code on github https://github.com/machrisaa/tensorzoom And I wanted to add to it some filters to help impaired people, especially students who struggles with the blackboard. And I want to add so many other things. But because I'm new to tensorflow and machine learning in general, I don't know how to deploy this exact model on my app. Note 1: I know how to deploy many models and I know the basics, but I'm struggling with this one. Note 2: there's an app on play store that has deployed it called tensorzoom, but I don't know how :/ So if you can help me to get this tensorzoom working I would be grateful. [link] [comments] |
why does every messaging app require a phone number or email? Posted: 02 May 2018 12:57 PM PDT is there some law that says you have to get either a phone number or email from someone using your messaging app? Could I make a duo / facetime clone that does not ask for either and just lets you make up an id or use a sha256 id or is that illegal somehow? [link] [comments] |
Accessing internal storage from PC on S7 Active (AT&T) Posted: 02 May 2018 04:30 PM PDT I've been researching for an hour or two now and can't find how to access internal files from my PC. I can access my SD card fine. Lots of 'helpful' documentation saying 'plug in your phone', 'go to my computer'... ect. I've looked for a workaround also- im trying to move camera pictures to my PC for backup. ES file explorer tells me these pictures are located in /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera, but ES file explorer, when navigating to /storage/emulated is empty. There is no /DCIM/ in internal, but is under my SD card, which I can access from my computer, and is now also empty. 350+ pictures somewhere on my phone. If I could access my entire internal storage on PC, I could do a simple search for *.jpeg and find em all.. FFS smartphones used to be easy. This is driving me nuts. Edit: Found a workaround. Select all pictures in gallery (hold to select one, then tap all in top left. Tell it to download. I think it is moving them both to dropbox and my SD card. Still, I'd like to know how/why to access internal... Extra edit: phone set to MTP for sub transfer [link] [comments] |
US phones with massive batteries? Posted: 02 May 2018 04:20 PM PDT Wondering if there are many phones available in the US with massive batteries (4000 mAh or more) and decent specs (processor, camera, etc). I'm thinking I might need to get a Moto Mod compatible phone and just slap a battery pack on it, because most of the big-battery phones I'm aware of have pretty unimpressive internals (like the Moto E5 Plus, or that Lenovo one....I forget the name). Lock screen pop ups not working Posted: 02 May 2018 04:06 PM PDT I've got a galaxy s8+ (oreo) that's about a week old. At first, I got the popup banner notifications with the screen locked for some apps (like textra and email) but soon stopped working, despite me setting them to display on locked screen. After a few days, nearly all apps have stopped displaying banner popup notifications on the locked screen. I've made sure that each app I want notifications for has battery management shut off and notifications are enabled with urgent priority. I do get the audio alert with vibration and the LED indicators but I do not get any banner notifications when my screen is locked for any app. I've been hitting google for the last 3 days and I can't find anything that seems to solve the problem. I'd like to avoid a total factory reset because it's taken literally all my spare time since I got it to get things customized the way I want them. What have I done? Why is this happening and how can I fix it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 May 2018 04:01 PM PDT Ive had an xperia c5 i think, it worked fine but for the few last months it changed the ring volume to the lowest volume, regardless of where it was before. It went there from vibrate mode, or from any other ring level. Yesterday i got a brand new Galaxy a8 and the problem appears there too. I have no idea what to do. I don't press any buttons by accident [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to disable "snippets" on Chrome? Posted: 02 May 2018 03:52 PM PDT The other day I was looking for something basic like cooking suggestions for a rice cooker and I couldn't get any regular link. Every result was a stupid snippet. I just want traditional results. Is this possible? [link] [comments] |
Secret Codes not working on an S7 Edge Posted: 02 May 2018 03:28 PM PDT Besides multiple other restrictions, like DTMF not working during calls, I just found out the my S7 Edge (sm-g935p) does not have secret codes enabled. What is the workaround to make them work ? I already wiped my partition cache. The phone is unlocked. [link] [comments] |
