| Posted: 29 Mar 2018 07:50 PM PDT My roommate saw a girl playing a game on the bus the other day and now he wants to play it, but he did not ask the girl what the game is called so our only option was to search the entire Google Play Store. After an entire afternoon of installing and removling games on our phones, I kindly ask you strangers on the Internet... Have you ever played a game like this?
Most games I found have one or two of these elements, but not all of them. I don't know if it helps, but here is a sketch my roommate made. We have tried Peggle, Papa pear saga, lots of ball breaker games, but we could not find the one. If you know which game we are talking about, your help is much appreciated. | "Game Optimizing Service Has Stopped" Error Posted: 29 Mar 2018 08:57 PM PDT A couple of days ago, I started getting the following errors every time I opened certain games on my Galaxy S7: "Game optimizing service has stopped", immediately followed by "Game optimizing service keeps stopping", then everything works normally. Like I said, this isn't every game/app I open, only certain ones (Testing saw it come up on Forge of Empires, Summoner's War, and a couple others, but not on The Sims Mobile or a few lesser-known games). Unfortunately, all I've discovered is that this service is a built-in Samsung service that everyone wishes they could disable because they use it for ad pushing, but it's permanent. Some say it's part of the Samsung "Game Launcher", which is something I don't have. The only other thing I was able to find was that, apparently, a new version of the Game Optimizing Service APK was released about two days ago (and probably auto-installed on my phone), which is roughly when I remember the errors started appearing. There doesn't seem to be an obvious way of rolling back the update, or preventing it in the future. Any thoughts? Has anyone else experienced this with that service? Thanks in advance! | Pixel XL Won't Boot (Also can't boot into recovery) Posted: 29 Mar 2018 08:28 PM PDT Today, while at work, my Pixel XL randomly stopped working. It was just a black screen as if my battery had died randomly. After doing some Googling, I found out how to boot into recovery mode. (Vol down + Power button). When I boot into that screen, then select "Recovery Mode", the Google logo flashes for a split second, then it goes back to a blank screen. I also tried the other option related to the Bootloader (can't remember what it's called right now and I also can't seem to get back to that screen by pressing Volume down + Power) and it just went back to the blank screen. Any suggestions on what I can do to get the phone booting properly again? Google hasn't been any further help. [link] [comments]  |
| Which uncertified devices will be affected by Google's crackdown? Posted: 29 Mar 2018 09:28 AM PDT All the articles and posts I read mention an 'update' that prohibits users from logging into GApps but nobody says what kind of update it is. Is it an Android software update or a Play Services / Store update? I own a cheap Chinese OEM phone running Android 4.4.2 with absolutely no hope of receiving Android updates and it's unaffected. Posted: 29 Mar 2018 07:08 PM PDT I'm not sure why, but ever since I got my SD Card, I can't seem to get apps to install to the card, only to the phone. I'm not sure how to set the SD Card as the default, but iirc it might have to be formatted. I went ahead and backed up the data on my main pc, so can you guys advise me on what to do, please? moved this over here, not exactly sure on how to get play store to use the sd card, unless its some setting I can pick. Posted: 29 Mar 2018 07:04 PM PDT not sure if this is the right sub to ask for this. my phone is a Sony Xperia L1(sorry if this isn't android, i'm kind of stupid when it comes to phones) sometimes, when I unlock my phone, it goes silent, like straight up silent, vibrates when i get a notification/call, despite me not having set it to vibrate. things like background noise, youtube videos, all of it silent, as if there's no sound. also, when it's like that, my mic presumably doesn't work because google assistant doesn't hear me. one of the work arounds I have is either lock then unlock again to see if it makes any sound, or open google assistant and do a quick mic check, because if I can see google assistant hearing me, then I know I have sound. this is kind of annoying and I don't know what's wrong with it. anyone have any possible ideas? | Posted: 29 Mar 2018 07:01 PM PDT I have a T-mobile variant Note 8 and I keep the Wi-Fi on all the time. Whenever I leave my house, the Wi-Fi disconnects by itself (obviously). When I come back to my router's range, my phone reconnects (also obviously), but the problem is that its speed is reduced from the 120 Mbps it would usually get to just 10. I know that is a problem with the phone because every other device I have works fine. Also, after a reboot, the Wi-Fi is fast again. I tried a cache clear from recovery (didn't work), and would prefer not to reset the entire phone. Thanks. [link] [comments]  |
| Accounts not showing up in Google Drive app? Posted: 29 Mar 2018 06:49 PM PDT Previously my Drive app let me select between multiple accounts by tapping the little down arrow at the top of the left menu bar. Unfortunately, my Drive now seems to be locked into one account - tapping the down arrow just reveals the 'add account' and 'manage accounts' options with no accounts listed at all. (EDIT: Forgot to mention, trying to add one of my existing accounts simply gives an error message saying that account is already in use on the device. If I remove the account in question and re-add it using the 'add account' option, it doesn't change anything in Drive; it only re-adds the account to the sync settings list within 'manage accounts'.) I've tried deleting the cache, restoring Drive to the factory version, enabling storage/contacts permission for Drive and fiddling about with sync settings but nothing seems to work. :( Does anyone know any possible fixes? | Posted: 29 Mar 2018 06:31 PM PDT I've been having this weird issue that has never occurred before, any app that i try to download on the app store will be stuck on downloading. It will rarely work but for the most part will not, im usually forced to download the apk. now if i turn off wifi and try to use my mobile data, the app will install fine. It does this on multiple phones in the house so its definitely not the phones. ive tried resetting the router so i just wanted some feedback of where i should troubleshoot next or if anyone has experienced similar [link] [comments]  |

This just started happening - I've been able to send/receive since getting the phone 2 weeks ago. Was using Textra app - switched to Samsung messages app and same result. I dropped it in water and as a result the screen is damaged (does not respond to me touching it and has vertical lines). I'd love to get pictures and my contact info off of there. How can I do that? Is there a service that will do this without having to repair the screen? I've asked for the price for fixing the phone and it's more than the phone is brand new... In the middle of videos, it would randomly pause itself and take me to the top of the page (if I scroll through the comments). It kept happening throughout the video I looked it up and saw that clearing cache or uninstalling updates may help, tried it, but the problem persists. | Microsoft Outlook device/desktop sync Posted: 29 Mar 2018 09:48 PM PDT Is anyone else having problems syncing between devices and desktop for Microsoft Outlook? When I open an email on my pc, the notification remains on my phone, like the email is still unread, meaning I have to manually click or clear already seen emails on my phone throughout the day. I have a Pixel 2 on Oreo, but this is also the case for my LG G4 on Marshmallow so don't think this is a device/android version issue. Also, there are similar problems when opening emails on one of the devices - the notification remains on the other. Syncing Outlook between devices and desktop used to work well for me a few months ago, but seems to have gone downhill. Is anyone experiencing otherwise? Or have any ideas that could help? Thank you. Posted: 29 Mar 2018 09:43 AM PDT I recently moved to Thailand from my home country in Australia and noticed that my regular use of voice typing was more flaky than usual. But on a recent trip home to Australia was solid as usual. Anyway after trawling the net and finding zero info here I am hoping that some good kind soul has the answer to my problem! I have experimented extensively and have found out that when I am in Thailand the voice typing defaults to US language (without having made any settings changes apart from Time Zone). This defaulting to US language does not appear anywhere in the settings as far as I can tell on deep dives and experiments and everything is set to Australia language as default etc. I have trawled through the various settings on my phone chrome and google at least a half a dozen times trying to change it but to no avail. Google assistant works fine. The problem is something to do with location as when I rout through Australia via a VPN it also works fine. My guess is that it is some sort of bug that hasn't been picked up as my use case is quite narrow (though I would be surprised if it was limited to Australia- Thailand). But I am hoping i am wrong or if not a work around is known. Understanding that turning off or spoofing my location is not a practical option and neither is constant VPN use. I am currently using a OnePlus 5 but the problem existed on my 5X and seems to be consistent on other platforms for example PC. CHEERS [link] [comments]  |
| Having problems with an SD card Posted: 29 Mar 2018 03:27 PM PDT Hi all, so my 128gb Sandisk SD card is loaded with maybe 110gb of music, but somethings going wrong with it. There are two symptoms. The first is that, while in the phone, it keeps randomly ejecting. It seems to be caused by software, rather than the card coming loose, because 'sd card ejecting' appears on the screen while it happens. When it's ejected, if I go to settings>storage the card doesn't appear (rather than as appearing as present but unmounted). The second symptom is that, when I plug the SD card into my computer, it comes up as having an error, but when I click 'repair the error' it never makes any progress (its currently been frozen on my computer for about half an hour) and it goes from being accessible in Windows Explorer to being some kind of drive with no contents, it just says exFAT where it usually says size. It used to be possible to use WhatsApp Web on a mobile browser so long as you requested the desktop site. Now it doesn't work. You can set it up but after a while it goes to the mobile site prompting to download the app. Same goes for the excellent Hermit app by /u/chimbori - used to work but not anymore. There seems to be an arms race in which WhatApp keeps finding better methods for detecting that you are on mobile. How do they figure it out, (and why do they care so much)? I am currently on a long flight connected to wifi and I cannot make my phone stop downloading a 1.5GB system update. It is making the internet unusable and killing the battery. I have tried the developer options toggle to no avail. I have also set the specific network to restricted. It continues to download. Is there any way to stop it but keep wifi on? [link] [comments]  |
| So, what's wrong with the notch? Posted: 29 Mar 2018 09:14 AM PDT Not a troll post. As far as I understand it so far, the notch digs into some of the top of the screen, taking up some status bar space in return for reducing bezel/device size. This looks a bit weird, but other than that, is it such a bad thing? I could see how users with a lot of notifications might not appreciate the lack of status bar space, though. Currently on a OnePlus 5 and the top of the device is primarily taken up by the camera and speajer, though with a notch the status bar could be moved upwards, giving more screen space. First time this has happened, I don't really use wifi ever unless I need to download a big update for an app, and usually my phone will let me know with a notification. Otherwise my WiFi is turned off 100% of the time. I do use my Bluetooth often, but I make sure to turn it off when not in use. Is there anything I can do to stop this?
