Galaxy S6 Black Screen of Death after using Gear VR. Posted: 02 Mar 2018 01:49 AM PST I am using a Samsung Galaxy S6, on AT&T. I do not know the version or build (But it is up to date I am fairly sure) Tonight I decided to use my gear VR for the first time in awhile, and when I did, it gave the notification to let my phone cool 3 or 4 times. This is normal for me while using the VR. But then when I decided I was done and unplugged my phone from the headset, it was on a black screen and will not turn on. I believe that overheating may be the cause of what went wrong. Things to note: 1. My phone was charged and I know that it is capable of charging at the moment. It has been above 80% since it crashed
If my phone is screwed for good, is there any way to save my files and transfer them to a new phone? Either digitally or physically? This person appears to have the exact same issue: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Smartphones-Tablets-Wearables/Galaxy-S6-Black-Screen-except-during-Calls-and-using-the-Camera/td-p/327225 PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Prevent Win 10 from installing touchpad driver Posted: 02 Mar 2018 01:09 AM PST I have an older Dell Latitude E6410 with Win 10. Everything works fine except the Dell driver for the touchpad which makes it unusable. However, if I uninstall it and use the generic Win 10 driver then the touchpad works fine. Now, whenever I restart the laptop the Dell touchpad driver installs automatically and I have to manually uninstall it again. I have tried the Device Installation Settings option but it does nothing. Any help is appreciated. Running Win 10 1709, OS Build 16299,248 [link] [comments] |

My Gmail was hacked - how do I figure out what they saw? Posted: 01 Mar 2018 10:41 AM PST Someone accessed my personal Gmail account yesterday without my consent. As soon as I found out (I got several forgotten password emails in the span of a few minutes - I presume they were trying to lock me out of my account), I changed my Gmail password and enabled two factor authentication, as well as changing my passwords for my Facebook, other email addresses, etc. Is there a way for me to determine how long they had access to my account, and what they accessed? All that I can tell from my end is that they forwarded a couple of my personal emails to their own email addresses. The time between when the first email was sent and when I changed my password was about an hour, so they accessed my account for at least that much time. If I could access all Gmail logins in the past few days I'd imagine that would be sufficient, but when I click the details button at the bottom of my Gmail inbox it only goes back about a day. Here's my Gmail logins (accessible from the details button at the bottom of the Gmail inbox). Here's my recently used devices page (I've removed a couple of details). For context, I've had a difficult relationship with the person who I think accessed the account, and I believe they have tried to compile information, emails, etc. that would compromise my relationships with my coworkers and friends. List all results in a website via URL kung-fu Posted: 02 Mar 2018 04:23 AM PST I am looking for a job, this website (linkup) has 16K jobs listed on X pages of 25 jobs listed per page, I dont want to click and scroll through all this crap manually a lot of the jobs repeat or are bogus. I want to copy all the text down locally, and use regex or excel to manipulate the data and filter out the crap. So I am looking for a fancy URL query to list all jobs in my search, not paged results. The URls I am working with. https://www.linkup.com/search/results?keyword=&location=East+Brunswick%2C+NJ https://www.linkup.com/search/results?keyword=&location=East+Brunswick%2C+NJ&pageNum=4 [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to replace syskey.exe on Windows 7 ? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 12:23 AM PST So a relative fell for one of those Indian tech support scams and they managed to syskey her install. I was able to unlock it with some instructions on Microsoft's support site using a boot dvd and fixing the registry. Since she has a few issues that makes her susceptible to these types of things I was thinking of just deleting syskey.exe from the System 32 but when I did that sfc kicked it and just brought it back. So I had another idea, I was thinking of coding something simple that would do the following
I got something coded that works in a VM I made but when I tried to replace syskey.exe windows freaked out and recovered the original one. I know I could just update her to Windows 10 1709 where syskey is no longer included but I doubt her laptop would handle Windows 10 (it's a 8 year old Celeron) . Is there a way to just disable sfc on a specific file (in this case the syskey.exe) [link] [comments] |
Wacom tablet not detecting Pen. Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:51 AM PST So after a week of not using my Wacom tablet, I plugged it in today to do some photoshop stuff, but the tablet wasn't picking up the pen. Strangely enough It was still picking up my hands with the touch feature. I reinstalled the drivers several times, rebooted my PC and tried a different Pen, but still no luck. I swapped to another, but smaller tablet I have and the pens seem to work fine on this tablet. I'm confused as It was working perfectly the last time I used it, and hasn't moved from it's place on the desk. Is it possible my Tablet's Pen sensor is just broken? If so is it possible to fix it? How Can I ensure I don’t get DDOS’ed Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:47 AM PST So today while playing fortnite my internet went down which was super strange as this hasn't happened in over two months. At first I assumed it was the same issue again as last time (bad wiring which the company fixed) but then my brother came into my room and said he thinks we got DDOS'ed. Apparently a guy went into his lobby of fortnite and asked "How's California" and then my internet went down for about 5 minutes. I unplugged our modem and when that didn't work I tried unplugging the router. I'm not sure if that did it or the guy decided to just stop doing whatever he was doing but after that he blocked my brother on PSN and we haven't had an issue since. My questions 1) How did he manage to do that? 2) how can I ensure I doesn't happen again? I have a nighthawk x4 router. It's pretty expensive and is supposed to have tons of neat features which I've never really checked out so maybe there's something in there I could setup to make sure I can't get attacked like this again? It would really suck if someone decided to drop the internet for a day instead of a couple minutes. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Could lag for bluetooth headphones be because of the adapter? Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:29 AM PST I tried out some bluetooth headset, but since my pc doesn't have integrated bluetooth, I have one of those tiny dongles. The lag was huge, I'd say around a second. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:22 AM PST I have two ram sticks (2133mhz, 8gb each stick), it recognises that both sticks are there and operating and states that there is 16gb of memory available but does not recogize it as dual channle. now this was a curve ball for me, Im assuming that it is indeed the ram sticks that are causing me problems though I could well be wrong. but it appears to be the only sign i can think of that doesnt seem right. could this be causing the choppiness when playing and if not is it a problem with a fix? Problems with Helvetica (font) appearing compressed in browsers Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:18 AM PST So this happens on a few websites for me and is not CSS related as far as I can tell. When viewing websites who force Helvetica sans-serif I get problems with the font looking compressed, this is especially bad when the font is also in bold as in the picture below. I assume this may be a font issue, could it be that I have to reinstall the font on the server? [link] [comments] |
Retasking Audio Jack as Output Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:11 AM PST Hi, Just got my speaker today so I am trying to have both my speaker and headphone plugged in at all time but there is only one rear green output jack and connecting it to the front jack would destroy my cable management. So I searched up on Google on retasking other rear audio jack but that didn't help much. I tried connecting the speaker's jack to the (blue) line in jack and retask it using ASUS's modified version of the Realtek audio driver (ASUS call it SupremeFX) but it only offered the choice of "Line in" or "Side speaker Out" when I plug it in. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what I should do (except for using a splitter)? Thanks. Spec: ASUS Z370-F Windows 10 64bits [link] [comments] |

Blank screen on some softwares using remote connection Posted: 02 Mar 2018 03:01 AM PST Operating SystemWindows 10 Computer Specs (PSU, GPU, CPU, RAM, Motherboard)Several configurations used. Speccy LinkN/A Description of problemI got a bit of an odd issue with several computers, i work in an cinema fx school and i use about 10 computers for rendering simulations. To let students use those computers i setted them up in a room with one screen / keyboard / mouse to switch from one to another when they need to access directly to the computer and a remote configuration using Teamviewer (now testing with AnyDesk). The problem is, when they're trying to access through the remote connection (ether it's TeamViewer or Anydesk), if the screen is not directly connected to the computer, some softwares (SideFX Houdini, Photoscan, Speed Tree, etc.) are showing blank instead of their regular UI. As soon as the screen is plugged back they're functioning again and i can't figure why. When this issue beganWhen we switched the computers to a new room, they worked fine before. Recurring issueYes Date of purchaseN/A Under WarrantyNo Cause/Steps to recreate the issueConnecting to the computer through Teamviewer or Anydesk when the screen is unplugged. What I've tried so far to resolve the issueChanging display settings on TeamViewer and AnyDeskUpdating Graphic driversRebooting the computerChanging the display resolution and settings of the computer [link] [comments] |
Computer's ethernet connection auto switching from 1Gbps to 100Mbps, FRUSTRATING Posted: 01 Mar 2018 08:58 PM PST Hey guys, hope someone can help me out with this. I have a Netgear R7000 router, and I am running a 50' Cat6 ethernet cable to my PC. I just changed my internet plan and I am now getting 150Mbps, used to be on 30Mbps so I didnt notice this problem before. Anyway, if I reboot my router, and check my router settings "internet port" statistics page, you can see that my LAN4 port that my computer is plugged into is running at 1000Mbps, and if I do a speedtest I get my full 150Mbps of internet speed. But after a few hours of use, or my computer being restarted, the port speed on whatever LAN port my computer is plugged into changes to 100Mbps, and then I only get 2/3 of my internet speed. The WAN connection on the router never changes from 1000Mbps, so it's not my internet slowing down, definitely something in my home network. I still get my full 150Mbps over wifi when the LAN port is running slowly. And I have also tried using a brand new Cat6 cable/different LAN ports on router, with the same issue. I don't know much about networking but I know the two ends of the cable have to "negotiate" a speed, so I tried going into my Realtek ethernet adapters properties, and changing my speed to 1.0 Gbps Full duplex, but that doesn't seem to fix it, and I cant find anything in my router settings to lock the speed to 1Gbps. If I can't figure it out next thing I will try is installing DD-WRT on my router and seeing if there is a way to force 1Gbps with that firmware. If you have any tips they'd be greatly appreciated, thanks! [link] [comments] |
