    Helper has stopped working error

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 11:24 AM PST

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program.

Error keeps popping up every 20 or so seconds. Closing the program doesn't get rid of it at all, how the hell do I shut this off?

    Thanks in advance!

    cipher did not wipe drive?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 08:15 AM PST

I am looking to sell a PC that I used to store sensitive financial information. It was running Fedora 26. As part of the precautionary measures I did the following:

    1. I pulled the SSD and put it in a USB external enclosure

    2. I attached it to a Windows 10 box.

    3. Using Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management, I deleted the partitions and created a new volume. I even did a format.

    4. I then ran cipher /w:E (E was the drive letter it was mounted on). My understanding is that cipher wipes the free space on the drive.

    5. Upon successful completion of cipher, I downloaded recuva and ran it. To my surprise it was able to recover the financial files.

What exactly did I do wrong in this whole exercise?

    need help with Bluetooth

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 11:11 AM PST

I bought a Sabrent USB Bluetooth dongle that allegedly is Bluetooth 4.0. It uses the CSR Harmony bluetooth stack. The problem is that the driver the vendor provides is from Jan. 2017 and seems to be total crap. I can get a speaker to pair with it and that's about it. It barely detects my keyboard and mouse, much less pair with them. For instance, pairing with a mouse fails because it apparently is expecting the mouse to send it a PIN number! I am sure there must be updated drivers for this chipset, but I have no idea what other vendors use the same chipset with updated drivers. Any help would be appreciated!

on an unrelated note, why does a bluetooth driver package take up close to 500 MB of disk space????

Is Windows 10 suitable for enterprises?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 01:28 PM PST

What Windows 10 games support Dolby Atmos? I was disappointed to find that AC:O only works for Xbox.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:20 PM PST

I just picked up LG SJ9 soundbar, and having trouble finding games that support the atmos audio format.

It sucks because Dolby's website is unclear; they call out a bunch of games but after buying Assassin's Creed Origins I've discovered Atmos only works on xbox.

Is there a list out there?

Mouse and other usb devices not working randomly after I restarted my pc

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:05 PM PST

So, today, I restarted my pc because my mic wasn't working on discord. As soon as I restarted my pc all of my usb devices in device manager had a yellow triangle. My mouse wouldn't move, but it was receiving power, and the only thing that would work is my keyboard. I really need help with this. I've already turned off legacy usb in the bios as well.

Random restarts since December(?) update. Anyone else?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 06:00 PM PST

My computer keeps randomly restarting. It started after an update a few months ago. It can happen every day, or once a week. It doesn't happen when I open certain programs or perform certain actions, it's completely random. Computer doesn't shut down completely, I just go back to the Windows 10 boot up screen.

    Anyone know of any fixes?

    Windows 10 constant reboot.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 02:12 PM PST

Just installed Windows 10 on a machine for a friend that somehow fried her previous OS of windows 7.

Issue is the new install of windows 10 was flawless, auto activated and key install worked flawless as well.

Now though the computer will just restart unexpectedly with no notice, is there anything I should be looking for to fix this issue?

Machine is an ASUS tower running 6gb of ram and a 512gb Samsung SSD.

Windows update back at it again

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 05:31 PM PST

Whelp, windows has left me alone for around a month now, but theyre at it again with these updates. Just at random, my internet crapped itself one day, and the next day I find out that it was microsoft downloading updates onto my computer. Lol, it wouldnt even let me shutdown without updating, so I just pressed the button on my computer. How the hell do I get these cunts to leave me alone, I disable and stop the "windows update" each time, but that doesnt do a single thing. I uninstall the updates they have downloaded, but its showing me that were are a couple more that arent deleted. Im not sure whats wrong with microsoft, they patching ways to stop them from updating the pc like theyre bugs.

Windows keeps restarting with no warning.

    Posted: 23 Feb 2018 11:19 AM PST

Anytime I turn on my computer it starts launching all of the stuff I have set to launch but it does it before I log in. When it does that I can expect that after about 1.5 hours the computer will restart without warning. Anything Im doing will not be saved, it just gets deleted. The only solution I have found is to keep turning my computer off until it does not automatically launch programs before I put my password in.

    Does anyone know a solution?

Windows update starts laptop up at 12PM every day - is there a way to stop this or at least make it turn itself off when it's done

    Posted: 22 Feb 2018 11:55 PM PST

Hey everyone, So as of about 2-3weeks ago (I think?), my laptop turns itself on at 12PM noon every day, according the event viewer.

Windows update runs, downloads some update or another, and then my laptop stays on until the battery dies. I usually get a flat battery when I try to turn it on again. Is there a way to stop this, or at the very least make windows update have the courtesy to turn the laptop off again? I'm honestly not sure what triggered it to start turning on at 12 noon every day.
