Can I disable random prompts to enter my password for unlock? I just want fingerprint unlock. Posted: 20 Feb 2018 06:51 PM PST It seems to hit me at the worst times. Maybe I just need to shorten my password. But I'd say every 12 times I unlock my phone with fingerprint, I also have to enter my password. What purpose is this for? What is it preventing that wouldn't be susceptible the other 11 times? Both my phone's do this: Essential on 7.1.1 and Nexus 5x on 8.1. [link] [comments] |
Any phone that is similar to the Note 4 in terms of width, size, and shape? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 08:19 PM PST I wish there was a Note 4 with Note 8 specs, but there isn't unfortunately. If it's a plastic phone even better. I hate these 18:9 phones and miss the wider fat phones. Any other phones like the Note 4? [link] [comments] |
Can someone help me figure out what is using all the storage space on my phone? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 05:58 PM PST As you can see from the image linked below, I am using around 9 GB of storage on the phone's internal memory. I am trying to figure out what is using all that data. When I open the phone and select everything, it only shows the files as being around 600 MB. There's still another 8 GB unaccounted for. https://i.imgur.com/VGBLoom.png AT&T is the carrier. Galaxy S5. My storage settings says that 8.31 GB is being used by apps. I added everything up and my apps are only using 7.04 GB. There's another 1.27 GB that isn't showing up. On a related note. Is there a list somewhere that shows which default apps are necessary and which ones aren't? [link] [comments] |

What is the best way to completely remove root? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 07:46 PM PST Hey guys I'm using a Moto X 2013 and I've been using root since 2015 I think but I was never much interested on the root capabilities, I just did it for fun. Now my phone is kinda old, getting really slow and boot looping whenever I unintentionally accept the OTA update so I decided just to remove the root, update the phone and keep using it till my new one arrives (whenever this happens... lol) Since I'm not the smart guy when the subject is android, I decided to ask here what's the best to remove it. I already thought on just factory reseting it but googling around I found out that this is not the best idea. Any help, plz? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2018 07:38 PM PST Hi guys, I have a problem with the encryption process. I was trying to sync my work email with my Android phone (LG V10, about 2 years old), and Google (GSuite?) required me to encrypt my phone before syncing. About an hour ago, I started the syncing process, and my screen is now just... White. The only things that are visible are the white screen, and the bottom bar (Back, Home, Tabs, Dual SIM). Sometimes the screen will start to go to sleep, or the phone will lock. I can turn on the screen, and if the screen fades, tapping on the screen will make it white again. The Back button is highlighted in white (the other three are greyed out), and when I tap on it, it makes the tapping sound. Other than that, there's literally nothing else I can do with my phone. I Googled a bit before posting here, and it seems that during the encryption process, there's usually a screen with a progress bar and the Droid, but mine is literally just a white screen. Any advice? I'd rather not lose my data, but it's not life or death if I do. [link] [comments] |
miData Verification Code unsolicited text - Have I been hacked? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 07:24 PM PST I got a text message out of the blue that said "Your miData verification code is nnnnn." I wasn't even using my phone when that came in. According to the Play store, miData is an ad-delivering app. But it doesn't show itself to be installed on my phone. Anyone know what's going on? How to recover pictures/contacts from a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus with a broken screen? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 08:47 PM PST Ok so the screen doesn't work (just stays black) on my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus [Verizon] but everything else works. I have my replacement device right here but all the guides I looked up on how to recover data from a broken phone require the "USB Debugging Mode" to be turned on which I can't do as the screen doesn't work. I have a lot of pictures and contacts I absolutely NEED from my old phone and I really need help on what to do. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2018 08:45 PM PST As above. I'm trying to transfer audio files to my PC. I assume I should be able to patch straight across with a standard audio cable, but when I do the audio just plays through the phone's speaker rather than through the cable. If I plug headphones in they work as expected. TIA for any help! [link] [comments] |
Has anyone found the solution for the "play playlist" error yet? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 08:18 PM PST 2 weeks ago, the "play playlist <name>" function stopped working on google. Has anyone found a solution yet? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2018 04:56 PM PST My galaxy j3 prime is stuck in an loop where it says "System UI has stopped working" or something like that. All I did was change the animation settings to 10x and the minimum width to 960 in the developer settings. I can factory reset using the recovery menu, but I want to keep my application data. What can I do to recover it? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Oneplus 5T Android 8.0 update (Oreo), is it worth it? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 06:42 PM PST I just ordered my OP5T and I'm unsure if I should try out the Oreo beta. I've read mixed reviews, some say its just like the pixel in terms of smoothness, other say its buggy as hell. All the tech channels on YouTube say its great, but most of them are paid shills. Oxygen OS seems like it could be somewhat incompatible with the Oreo update, being the only OS of it's kind, and I'm unable to find a good discussion about the topic. Please if there are any OP5/5T users out there with this update, tell me if I should update it or not. PS I loved Nougat on my old phone (Axon 7) but being a tech enthusiast, the main reason I'm upgrading to the OP5T is for Android 8.0. I'm really conflicted here. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:33 PM PST I've read the Motorola E4 Plus is good, but it's a bit slow, and I've heard that the ZTE Max XL is also a great choice for what I want, but the battery isn't as powerful. Just want to hear your thoughts on either phone, if you've had personal experience with either. Or suggestions with other similar phones would be great. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Google contributor on my Android phone; how do I log into that on my desktop? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:28 PM PST I upload pictures, answer questions, and all that stuff for Google on my Nexus 5X. Sometimes I take photos on my point and shoot, and I can't figure out how to post them to my account on Google. Any clues? (I figure carrier, device, version, etc. are all irrelevant to this question.) [link] [comments] |

Device reporting wrong location. Posted: 20 Feb 2018 05:38 PM PST As the title says. I have this Huawei nova plus and so far it's been an okay experience, but I have encountered a problem: My device reports a wrong location. When using apps (Chrome, Twitter, Tinder, etc.) it says that my location is in Chicago, Illinois. The thing is that this location reported is absolutely wrong since I don't even live in the US. I did a quick Google research but I didn't find an answer. Can anybody help me? Any feedback would be greatly helpful [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 09:46 AM PST Is there any way I can see a list of recently installed apps that now are deleted? I know this is possible on iPhone, but then you can only see when the app was first installed, and reinstalled apps will not appear on top of the list. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2018 04:24 AM PST My only pain point on Android is how tricky it is to select text accurately, and even actuate copy and paste. Granted i have fat thumbs, and I'm aware that Apple patented the magnifying cursor (over 5 years ago, cant Android steal it now?), but is there any suggestions to make my text life easier? Thanks [link] [comments] |
I hate how these phones close apps and clear their memories? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 02:18 PM PST Hi, guys. I'm using a Lenovo P2 and a Xiaomi Redmi 4X. I have a problem with both phones: they close apps and clear their memories far too often. I'm a heavy user. I can open 50 Chrome tabs, Google Docs, Google Sheet, and Music at the same time because of what I do. Now, the problem gets irritating when I'm working and the phones close these apps themselves. P2 is 4GB while 4X is 3GB so I expect them to be easy for multi-tasking. However, I think these phones have an inbuilt app or setting which makes them optimise frequently. If you know how I can switch them off, I'd appreciate it. I understand this might cut off the battery but I really don't care. I want to open a Chrome tab and still have it loaded in hours. Thanks. Is there an app that can force stop and clear cache or data of selected apps? Posted: 20 Feb 2018 09:18 AM PST There are a lot of apps that take a lot of RAM and space via the large bytesize of the cache. So, I manually force-stop and clear cache or data from time to time, depending on the app. I want the app to be able to automatically -

I got a couple of questions about the OnePlus 5T Posted: 20 Feb 2018 04:32 PM PST Best recommendations for case, screen protector, and earbuds? Also, is there anything I should do to my OP5T that would improve my experience? Any particular apps worth recommending? And anything else you care to mention would be appreciated too.
