Huawei P10 Help - Faint lines appearing on the screen when I touch it, fades after a second or two? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 03:40 PM PST I've noticed these lines appear on screen when my finger touches it. Horizontal lines appear, they seem to actually be in a fixed location, fading away after a second of no contact and then reappearing in the same location. I have tried: Restarting Booting into safe mode Remove screen protector Changed screen brightness Went into developer mode, there was a setting there to show where you press and it was turned off already. Anyone know what on earth it is? [link] [comments] |
Open source alternative for app cloner? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 08:50 PM PST And if there isn't an app, what about any way to get a clone using only FLOSS software? Or at least could someone explain to a non developer if using app cloner to get the apk, uninstalling app cloner then installing the apk is still fully open source still? As in how can I know if the apk is still what I think it is, just with a changed filename? As in the original apk would still be original code except where the files are stored? How can I make sure they aren't also including extra potentially malicious code? So I ask, is there an open source alternative I can use to clone my apps? And perhaps could someone explain if changing the place it is stored could be malicious at all? Also curious, how exactly do lucky patcher and app cloners function technically? Why can't app developers do anything about them? Is it the open source nature of android? IDK Cheers [link] [comments] |

Can't get voicemail notifications on my S8 Posted: 04 Jan 2018 07:38 PM PST So it took a while for me to realize I wasn't receiving VM notifications on my Galaxy s8, from T-Mobile. I've tried messing with settings and nothing works. Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
My phone is asking me to download every MMS manually? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 10:08 PM PST I have all the appropriate settings checked. I have already restarted my phone multiple times. I'm running latest build of LineageOS on an Asus Zenfone ZE551KL. Why is this happening? [link] [comments] |
Google Pixel and Google Photos app...how, uh, do I hide my naughty bits? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 07:34 AM PST Asking for a friend. Jk, asking for me. I have nsfw photos of me and SOs on my phone. It was never a problem to hide them by tossing a '.' before the folder name (ex: ./totallynotporn) like in any linix directory system. But with my new pixel and Google photos I have two problems: 1) Google photos finds the files in the hidden directory and adds them to the Photos app and web GUI. 2) if I try and remove them from Photos or remove the message (of the photo came/went via text or what have you) it will remove the photos too it seems? This is a secondary issue I've come to work around. Naked bodies are fine for my own viewing but when I want to browse Photos and show friends/family something less inappropriate, it's kinda awkward. Which micro sd card do I go for? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 09:27 PM PST Want a micro sd card for my S5, only 16gb or 32gb haven't decided yet and I'm on a tight budget. Probably gonna bite the bullet and go for a 32gb, better in the long run. So far it's between the Toshiba Exceria M302 90mbs and the SanDisk Ultra U1 A1 98mbs. The Toshiba says it supports 4k etc but the SanDisk only supports 1080p. Same amount of stars on amazon but more reviews for the Toshiba. Toshiba is also £2 cheaper (lol) The card will be used for apps, video and ram expansion. Which puts more hope in the SanDisk with its A1 App performance. Any help would be appreciated, had a look at the Samsung evos but I've heard a lot of horror stories about them with phones. [link] [comments] |
How do I make Google where I left off and not the home page? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 09:25 PM PST I've already looked in the settings and I can't find it. My LG Vista left it on where I left off so I know it's possible. Clicking on links also brings up another page I can X out from. Any idea? [link] [comments] |

Can the ZTE ZMAX PRO Q.C 3.0?? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 07:22 PM PST To me, the charging capabilities of a smart phone is the most important feature of the phone. I currently own a ZTE ZMAX PRO for two months now and everything is going fine. The battery is good and it charges somewhat slow to my taste. I know that the ZTE ZMAX PRO has a Snapdragon 617 processor, which I did some research on and discovered that it supports QUALCOMM QC 3.0. I find this surprising since people on other Android forums have said that the ZTE ZMAX PRO only supports Q.C 1.0. Therefore, since the processor of the ZMAX PRO supports QC 3.0, is there a way to charge the phone with QC 3.0 instead of QC 1.0?? Thank you for reading!!! [link] [comments] |
Galaxy s8 can only hear on speaker Posted: 04 Jan 2018 07:07 PM PST I can only hear the person on the other line if my phones on speaker mode. If it isn't they can hear me but I can't hear them. Does anyone know if this is a issue that can be fixed? [link] [comments] |

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) SD card issue Posted: 04 Jan 2018 06:48 PM PST I'm experiencing an issue involving my SD card. Whenever I attempt to move an app to external storage, I get the normal prompt and I hit next, and the process proceeds as normal. However, at around 80%, I get an error stating that I have insufficient storage space. I have around 6~7 gigs free on my 16 GB SD card. My OS is 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). Is anyone willing to help me out? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 02:50 PM PST Do you ever miss snapping a photo or capturing a video because of the time it takes to load the camera on your phone? I've even got the shortcut setup on my Android where I can double-tap the home button and it loads the camera without having to unlock the phone, and then I've got the shortcut setup to where I can hit the volume button to snap a photo. But I'd still like to streamline that process. And my idea is that I'd just like to be able to hit Volume Up and it instantly snaps a photo or Volume Down to start/stop video recording. No screen needed. I've searched all over and tested apps, but the "Secret Camera" style apps I find need to be loaded first and all they really do is take photos/video without the video viewfinder. I've also found apps that take photos when someone incorrectly enters your unlock code. But nothing like what I'm talking about. Anyone seen exactly this or got an ideas on how to accomplish it? Thanks a lot. [link] [comments] |
How to disable links within video streams? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 06:12 PM PST If you've ever watched some... uh sketchy content online, you probably have experienced this. You are watching a video fullscreen, and you tap on the screen, maybe to check the current time, and suddenly a popup appears and redirects you to some bullshit website. How can I turn this off? Ideally, I'd like to use a video player similar to the iPhone video player where regardless of what website you are on, every single video opens within the exact same internal app, and the video DOES NOT HAVE links embedded on it. Is this possible to do on android? I have a Nexus 5X running Oreo. [link] [comments] |
Phone repairer (Kogan) asking for Google Account details even though phone has been reset (NEXUS 5X) Posted: 04 Jan 2018 06:03 PM PST I had a Nexus 5X that suddenly powered down one day and wouldn't power back on. It was purchased through Kogan.com, and still was under warranty, so I remotely wiped the device through my Google Account and sent it to Kogan. I just received the below email back from them: "Hi scrappadoo, Thanks for your patience during this process. Your phone is currently with a technician and still under assessment. To speed things up they have asked me to request some information should they get the phone working. As a security feature in Android 6.0 onward, the devices generally request the Google account details after completing the factory reset to ensure that the account has been entirely disassociated. If you'd be comfortable providing the login details, we can have this unlocked and proceed with the assessment. You can set a temporary password if you'd like; however, this will lock the device for 72 hours. Please get back to me and I'll be happy to assist you further. Kindest regards, Kogan Representative" I am feeling very skeptical that this is indeed required, and am not at all comfortable sending any login details (whether temporary or not) to a Hong Kong repair centre. Does anyone else have any experience with this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jan 2018 05:57 PM PST Long story short, my mother's Galaxy s7 for some reason pops up with messenger chat heads. (I didn't even know samsung messenger had chat heads, I thought that was a facebook messenger thing only) After a bit of digging I found out I could simply remove the app's permissions of "draw over other apps" and that stopped them from poping up HOWEVER, now everytime she gets a message, a giant screen sized notification pops up telling her she needs to go re-enable the feature. How do I either turn off that notification permanently, or turn the chat heads off to where she just receives text messages normally? Where if the phone is open she gets a snip-it at the top but no pop up head or anything (basically what seems to be the default for my galaxy s6) Update: So after re-enabling the "draw over other app" feature, it now works exactly like she wants it to. However I didn't change anything else. I have no idea if it's going to go back to the chat heads or not. At this point I'm just looking to figure out why they're suddenly not poping up anymore, and if they're going to start poping up again. [link] [comments] |
Lost all my contacts, can I get them back? Posted: 04 Jan 2018 05:42 PM PST Recently my OnePlus One cracked and I can no longer really use the touch screen to get into the phone (sometimes I can log in, but I cannot navigate), but all of my contacts are saved there. Is it possible to get in somehow and migrate them over to my OnePlus 5t without using the touch screen? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Jan 2018 05:19 PM PST Hey Android Users, I'm currently looking for a new phone after having the HTC 10 for two years and now the Screen is now unresponsive. So im on the hunt for a new device. I've had my eye on the S8 and +, Pixel 2, and the HTC U11. I really need help just getting the straight facts on which one has a better processor (or at least can run a smooth performance), camera, and the vibe of handling. I cant really make up my mind so it would help to hear the input of people that have used the devices! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jan 2018 11:14 AM PST Is there a list of mobile phones affected by the CPU flaw? Or a way we can figure it out based on the SoC used? Secondly, is there anything we can do to patch the flaw on old devices that don't receive OS updates anymore? Other than buy a new phone of course. [link] [comments] |
Bought an S7 that was Verizon unlocked... Posted: 04 Jan 2018 04:36 PM PST So now it has all American units (I am Canadian, we use metric) for things like temperature and still has uninstallable Verizon apps that I literally have no use for as a Canadian. I was expecting to get a phone that would be more "blank" and less "just a Verizon phone with a Canadian sim". Is the only way to fix this getting a new ROM? I was hoping to avoid that because I'm afraid of bricking my new phone and missing out on Samsung's default support. EDIT: Also something that's super annoying is that I can't dial my Canadian carrier's voicemail number because it's defaulted to Verizon's. I have to dial in my phone number manually to check my Voicemail. [link] [comments] |
