Any widget for Spotify that doesn't show album art?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 04:35 AM PST

I'm already using jacks music widget aka ubiquity music widget. I like it's format but I'm not overly fond of seeing album art all the time and there isn't a option to toggle it off.

    Any suggestions?

[?] Are there any concerns with AdGuard?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 07:15 AM PST

    SOLVED

    Hi all.

I'll be switching to Android in the very near future after about a decade of iOS, and i'm 99% finished getting everything ready and researched (i'm particular like that).

I'm strongly considering AdGuard to block ads system-wide, but i can't find much information on how it works.

Does it use an in-house DNS? Or does it just use a block-list?

Without getting in to a security/privacy debate, i'm mildly concerned that it may be capable of either intercepting my logins or tracking my device/web use.

Just thought i'd check here before i go and install/purchase it.

Video player that supports frame-by-frame skipping?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 09:56 AM PST

I've looked everywhere for something like this, but I haven't found anything. I know the old video player app on Samsung phones used to have this feature, but it's gone in the new app. Also, it's available on VLC for desktop, but not for android. Basically, it's a button that either goes forwards or backwards one frame. Thanks.

    Control Center Ios 11 (help!)

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 09:18 AM PST

This is a question for the application "Control Center ios11" app. Does anyone know any similar apps that can resolve the two issues I'm having mentioned below? I hope this is the right subreddit to ask this question, if not please let me know, thanks!

Can I modify the control center area with the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Sync, and airplane mode toggles: I want to put "mobile data" there. https://i.imgur.com/JX5EoL7.png

Also, I have the Samsung s8: the edge screen handle bar is right above the navigation bar (home screen button, back, and recent apps). Can I somehow put the edge screen handle bar below the navigation bar instead? It's difficult to swipe upwards without accidentally touching and activating the navigation buttons.

    Thanks!

[DEV] Change Tiler : my first logic game

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 04:24 AM PST

Hi, I released my first logical game on Play Store. It's called Change Tiler. I programmed it by HTML / jQuery and Phonegap.

It's a simple logic game. There's a tiled area with different colors. If you click on a tile, it and the neighbours will change colors: white to black, black to white. Your goal is to change all tiles to white.

In Normal mode there's a 3x3 area. If you do it well, you can pass the level in 4 steps. In the Hard mode there's a 4x4 area. Here you must change your strategy. If you choose good method, you can finish the level in 6 steps. The Extreme mode is a little bit different, because there's a third color. If you click, the colors change: white to black, black to red, red to white. So this is very complex. Good luck! :)

You can download the free version (only the normal level is avaliable): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.change.tiler.free

Would you please take a look at it and if it's possible write your opinion? Thank you.

Trying to find a daily journaling app that works well. I have two options, but they both could do better.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 07:31 AM PST

The apps are Daily Note (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.co.yjteam.dailynote), and Simple Mobile Notes (https://f-droid.org/app/com.simplemobiletools.notes).

I absolutely would love using Simple Mobile Notes, but the app isn't intended to be used as a diary. I want to have a calendar, dates/times, and Google Drive support.

Daily Note would be the perfect application, but the font choice is terrible, it's very slow to navigate, and the text wraps in a terribly odd way. I didn't see if they supported Google Drive, as I was too busy looking for ways to make it feel nice enough.

That said, I was using Journey for a while, but I dislike the way they split your day into time segments for each new entry. I might as well just use Journey, if nothing better comes up. And TIL it has a calendar option.

    TL:DR;

Want a good daily journaling app with no bullshit, a calendar, dates on top, and Google Drive.

[DEV]I made an app to "smartlock" Windows 10 with Android

    Posted: 07 Jan 2018 12:21 PM PST

The app uses the strength of the Bluetooth signal from you PC to decide if you are far or close to your computer and, then, either locks or unlocks it.

It is called Umwelt and it is free for you to download, install and use. These are the instructions on how to install on Windows. You'll also need the Android version from the Android store.

Unfortunately, because it hasn't been downloaded a lot, Windows' SmartScreen will show a warning. You'll need to select "More info" and "Run anyway" to install it. This warning will be gone when more people download it. Also, you'll need to pair your phone to the PC with Bluetooth.

I ask you please to tell me how it works and what you think of it. Either PM to me, use the "Feedback" option on the program itself or this page at my website. Please tell me: what do you think of the idea and the implementation? Does it work well with your phone & PC? What do you think would be a good enhancement? I am planning to add a few things like using the phone fingerprint reader to log in and record the times and programs you are using the computer, for time tracking.

There are other automatic lock/unlock solutions, but I think mine provides advantages upon them. It doesn't require you a Microsoft account or to share any data online. And it doesn't force you to purchase an extra hardware device.

The biggest problem when measuring the quality of the Bluetooth signal is that it is very unstable and this makes proximity unlocking applications unreliable. I handle this by making it very easy to adjust the threshold that defines if you are far or close. It is a control in the main menu.

I've done a version of this program for the Mac too and it was praised as one of the best at /r/apple on May/2015. I also did a version for Android Wear smartwatches. But, by now, you need a different Windows program to use it. If you have an Android Wear watch, please wait a few weeks; I'll soon finish an improved PC version compatible with it.

Edit: I made a video showing the concept on an smartwatch, the phone is similar.

Email app that shows emails from different accounts in different colors?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 10:25 AM PST

Hi! I recently switched to a Pixel 2 XL from my Galaxy S6, but I find myself missing the Samsung email app (which isn't available on the Pixel). The biggest feature I miss is the color coding of emails from different accounts in the All Inboxes section. I have looked into the different popular email apps out there (Gmail, Outlook, Edison, Inbox, AquaMail) but haven't found any with this feature. BlueMail does do it to an extent, but only with a little dot at that end of the email and I was hoping for something a bit more clear.

Am I missing something in any of these apps that would allow me to do this, or is there another email client you recommend? Cheers!

    Instagram Livestream/Story/Post downloader!

This is my first app on the PlayStore and has just been released! It supports downloading of Instagram media like stories, posts and livestreams. It also supports Facebook login for added reassurance.

Livestream recording is coming soon so you'll be able to get the stream even if the user didn't save it.

[DEV] Review movies and shows for your friends, create a watchlist from their recommendations and track what you're watching.

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 12:20 PM PST

A lot of times I have no idea what to watch, and I figured most of the stuff I watch comes from my friend's recommendations, so I made Voxy and it lets you create a list of movies and shows you'd like to watch from your friends' recommendations. So instead of them having to recommend stuff in person, you can talk about, and create a list of, movies and shows you want to watch in the app. The idea is to just always have great list of what to watch next.

You also share reviews of your favourite movies and shows with your friends. If you add a show to your watchlist you'll automatically be notified whenever it's about to air.

I posted here about 7 months ago when I first put up the beta. Since then I've added a lot more useful, relevant features to the beta:

    • Review any movie you've watched and give it a rating.
    • Review any entire show or just a season and give it a rating.
    • Invite your friends and follow them to be notified when they post reviews.
    • See your friends' reviews on what they watch.
    • Have threaded discussions about the reviews.
    • View movie and show details including overviews, budgets, revenues and cast information.
    • Add any movie or show you'd like to watch to your watchlist.
    • Include other people's reviewed movies and shows in your watchlist.
    • Track the movies and shows you're watching.
    • Get notified whenever shows in your watchlist are about to air.
    • View all the latest movies and shows, and easily add them to your watchlist.
    • See top reviews made by other Voxy users.

The app is still in beta. I'm posting this to get feedback on the app, any suggestions for changes, anything I missed, any features that would be cool, pretty much anything will be helpful.

Here's the link to the app.

    Thanks :-)

    [REQUEST] Factory/Robot management/creation game

    Posted: 07 Jan 2018 08:58 PM PST

Tried TheFactory by ElectroWolff Games - not quite what I was looking for.

I'd like something, kinda similar, but more spatially-oriented, better user-control.

For example, that game would have devices that create specific outputs, but the auto-sellers wouldn't let you chain them specifically, so if your bottleneck was conveyor-belt systems, the auto-sellers were selling off your wheels before your conveyor-belt constructor could use them to build a conveyor - which is frustrating.

Basically I'd like to set up some production lines, manage logistics, and move robots and pallets around.

Once upon a time there were some robot construction games as well.

Any way to prevent OTHER-apps ads (like, in-game ads) from stopping music playback on Spotify when they start?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 06:03 AM PST

Sup guys! I was wondering, is there ANY way to prevent games and other-apps advertisings from stopping my music playback on Spotify?

Just to make it clear: I'm already Premium on Spotify. I'm talking about the OTHER-APPS ads.

I'm totally ok with the ads themselves, including their sound. All I want is that, when they start, they DO NOT stop my Spotify music. I'm not looking for any sort of adblock or anything like that, I just want to secure my Spotify playback, cause everytime it's forced to pause, Android's RAM management crashes Spotify...

    Alternatives to Dell Mobile Connect?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2018 11:50 AM PST

I've found this Android app called Dell Mobile Connect which seemed like the App I wanted, but it requires bluetooth, which I don't have in my PC.
I wanted an App that allows me to call and message from my PC, and if possible (optional) also control my phone with mouse and keyboard.
    Thank you for your time.
