Posted: 07 Jan 2018 04:44 PM PST Operating SystemWindows 10 Model of modem, router, or other devicesNetgear Switch IP ConfigurationN/A When the issue began15 minutes ago Recurring issueNo Date of purchaseN/A Description of problemI live in a university dorm in the US. We have an ethernet jack in the wall of our rooms, but only one. I have a bunch of game systems as well as a desktop PC so I have a switch. Everything was working fine an hour ago. I have an Asus x-79 deluxe motherboard which has two ethernet ports. I had a spare 360 that I wanted to plug into the little CRT (used for retro games) on my desk next to my computer monitor so I could use it as a netflix machine while I worked and also play some OG xbox games on a CRT. I plugged the Xbox into my second ethernet port on my PC since the cable was too short to reach the switch, and bridged the connections in Network and Sharing center. It didn't work and my PC infinitely said "identifying" for the internet connection. Undid the bridge but it still didn't work. looked down to the switch and sure enough- the activity LED on the cable to the wall was not blinking anymore. Nothing in the room can connect via Ethernet anymore, including xbox one and 360 plugged directly into switch. changed cables with no effect. anyone advise what to do before I contact housing? Local DNS error in Skype For Business Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:20 AM PST I'm trying to access my work's Skype For Business from home. I'm returned with an error saying the company server isn't found and that it might be an error with the DNS-configuration for the domain. They suggest I forward the troubleshooting error KB2566790 to my workplace's sysadmin. The sysadmins at my workplace have not been helpful at all so I'm trying my luck here. However, it's only on my local PC that this problem occurs. It works on my laptop and my phone, but not on my stationary PC. What could cause a DNS problem like this on just a single PC? A google solution was to change the server settings in Skype For Business from automatic to "sipdir.online.lync.com:443". This doesn't work for me unfortunately. I've forwarded ports to see if that was the problem, it was not. I've deactivated my firewall to see if that was the problem, it was not. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the program, did not solve the problem. Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this issue? Kind regards Lucas [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Jan 2018 05:58 PM PST Operating SystemWindows 10 Model of modem, router, or other devicesMain router: Zyxel c1100z Repeater router: TP-Link AC1350 Archer C59 IP ConfigurationN/A When the issue beganThis morning (after adding an additional router as a repeater to the main router) Recurring issueYes Date of purchaseMain router: Unknown, Repeater router: yesterday) Description of problemA friend of mine has duplex apartments, and is living in one side of the duplex and is renting out the other side. He wanted to provide internet to his tenant but the tenant could not get a reliable signal on his side (my friend has has no problems with his router thus far). So I suggested getting another router and using it as a repeater. He got an additional router (the TP-Link Archer C59) and I set it up in WDS mode to the Zyxel C1100Z. I got a call from my friend this morning saying that his wife lost connection to the internet while connected to the Zyxel router, and so he unplugged the TP-Link router and her internet connection immediately returned. He then plugged the TP-Link router back in and was able to connect to the internet on both routers and used them for most of the rest of the day (roughly 12 hours) before another issue occurred. This evening he was connected to the TP-Link router and she to the Zyxel router, and her internet connection went down, but his remained intact. He then power cycled both routers and was able to use them both fine again. Cause/Steps to recreate the issueWaiting roughly 12 hours using the routers both normally, then the problem reoccurs. What I've tried so far to resolve the issueJust power cycled both devices. I have done some research and I found someone else with a similar problem. It appears he solved his problem by installing some third party firmware on his router. If at all possible I would like to avoid doing this, so I am wondering what other steps I could take to try to solve the issue. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jan 2018 12:09 AM PST As the title says. I believe I have a decent machine, I just never did any of recording. I don't play that much at once, probably an hour at maximum + I'd be pausing the recording during queues and so on. Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:54 AM PST Im gonna make this a quick one I've had this motherboard for a year now and since i got it there was a very loud humming noise in my headphones when i was playing video games. So i bought a external soundcard to try and fix it. it didnt fix it Then i got a new powersupply and it got a bit quieter but it was still there. My graphics card then died so i had to buy a new one and it didn't change anything. The outputs aren't grounded in my room so i tried grounding it downstair but still nothing. Im so frustrated and i've been trying to figure out what this is for so long. I still get headaches from the constant buzzing. Question Regarding Google “Name” and “Username” + GMail/Outlook Mail Forwarding Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:51 AM PST Hey all Now assume I signed up for a gmail to use it for uni+job and entertainement. Lets say my name is John Doe. I used that to sign up, then changed my name in Settings to Arszilla. Now when I send mails from that email (I got my 2 outlooks forwarding all my mail to that email) it says "Arszilla wrote..." but I want it to say John Doe. I want Arszilla to remain for Youtube, so when I comment it doesnt use my name. How can I do that? Another thing is, when writing from the gmail, any way to make it look like the mail was sent from one of the outlooks that I have linked yo forward to my gmail, instead of sending them from gmail? Like johndoe@outlook forwards all recieved mail to johndoe@gmail. I reply from gmail and it makes the sender as johndoe@gmail. Any way to make the sender johndoe@outlook? [link] [comments] |
How to use the code from Github to run an application? Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:41 AM PST Hi I found this piece of code https://github.com/martinlindhe/subtitles/blob/master/cleaner.go and it seems to be an application written in the Go programming language with the purpose of removing advertisements from subtitles. Now, how do I go about using this code to make an application so I can use to get my subtitle advertisements removed? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Stuck getting windows ready for something. Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:34 AM PST So yesterday when i turned off my pc and made sure i pressed the turn off button in windows. But rather than turning off it actually rebooted, and displayed the message: Getting windows ready Dont turn off your computer. So i left it on while i was on my mobile phone in bed. It was on for like at least 2 hours and right before i went to sleep i checked the pc to check if it was done, but it did not stop. So i just brushed it off and figured it was due to a glitch or something, and hard shutdown the pc using the buttons on my case. So now as i turned on my pc the day after it still shows the message: Geting windows ready etc etc. And now i am really confused since i litteraly just reinstalled windows a couple weeks ago. And now am hoping i dont have to do that again. Thanks for the help in advance! [link] [comments] |
Wireless internet connection problems Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:30 AM PST So my brother and me are connected using cable to internet, everything works like it should. The problem is one PC in the other room that connects to wifi. Everything is working like it should unless he tries playing Rust. When he opens the game and plays it for some time wireless connection just crashes. Router shows no problems but every phone, laptop and computer get disconnected immediately. Are there some settings in router that can fix it or do you have any ideas what the problem could be? Router we have is THOMSON ST780 Thanks for the help [link] [comments] |

Wifi Network Connectivity Issues in the Office Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:26 AM PST We've been having some ongoing wifi connectivity issues in my work place. I work for a very small charity and we do not have a qualified 'tech support' employee. We have a BT business hub as our router. There are 16 computers in the building belonging to ourselves and various other charities who use our internet as well as a couple of printers. Roughly 7 computers and the main printer are connected to the router by a cable. The remaining devices use wifi. It is a very rare day indeed when all 16 computers would be attempting to connect. For reasons unknown, 4 users in one part of the single floor open plan office keep having difficulty connecting to wifi. When we take our own devices over to that part of the office we have no trouble and can fully connect without any issues. If it matters, they are using laptops. My iphone and colleague's laptop both work properly when used in that part of the building. I have spent countless hours on the phone to BT who have changed the channel, reset the router, changed the Mps rate and changed the password. I have installed two wifi boosters in the workspace in the shape of a triangle with the router. A colleague brought in a router from home to see if this would solve the problem but it did not. Is there anything obvious that I am missing or anything else I can do? We are all small charities in this building with limited resources. The organisation struggling to connect use Office 365 and their work is starting to suffer because they cannot reliably access the internet. Any advice or signposting suggestions would be hugely appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Slow Download Speed For Visual Studio Installer Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:22 AM PST I'm installing visual studio and I noticed that the progress bar is moving veeeeery slow even when I left it for hours the bar hasn't moved. When I checked task manager the network column shows 0 - 0.6 mb/s speed. It doesn't go further than that. I thought it was the internet so I downloaded things from steam to check my speed. My download speed was normal reaching 4mb/s meaning that my internet isn't the problem. Is something wrong with microsoft at this time? or Does it really just take a small portion of the bandwidth? I live in the philippines if that means anything. [link] [comments] |
Audio crackling/ popping, sound dropouts High DPC latency Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:19 AM PST I'd recently noticed a bit of audio crackling/ popping very faintly in the background when playing Arma 3, I also noticed sometimes the audio would cut out for a second or two as well. Originally I thought it was just the game, but I've noticed it a bit here and there when browsing on the internet as well. I downloaded LatencyMon, and recorded several different times, and I noticed it reported latency issues when I heard crackling/ popping in game. (Screenshot here) https://imgur.com/hMBgVq8 For the most part web browsers seemed fine... most of the time the results browsing looked like this (maybe slightly higher latency) https://imgur.com/HoC3YXT I was pretty confident that the problem was mainly isolated to a game since on the desktop the Latency showed as acceptable/ borderline acceptable. However I wanted to make sure, so I ran latencymon for over 24 hours, and in that time I wasn't gaming. I noticed a little split second freeze/ lag spike when watching Netflix, and immediately checked Latencymon, and these were the results. This is the highest latency I've seen so far, even higher than with audio popping in game. https://imgur.com/M3C4zgH Anyone got an idea for a fix? Reinstalling audio drivers didn't do anything. Reinstalling network drivers didn't do anything either. I want to try an older version of the LAN driver, but it won't allow me as a newer version is installed. I can't seem to delete the Intel lan driver from device manager either. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:17 AM PST Hi all, So I've been having some issues with my HP laptop since the 1709 update was installed, namely the USB ports only work with some devices, (i.e. not with USB sticks or my USB mouse) and whenever I sleep the laptop a new windows session is created rather than resuming the old one (all programs close and startup programs restart). After trying to change hibernation/sleep settings and updating several drivers the problem still wasn't solved so I eventually decided to perform a clean install of windows 10 which still did not solve the problem. From reading threads in other forums it seems the creators update is responsible, so I would like to rollback to 1703. I know there is a tool to do this in windows 10, but since I just did a clean install this isn't available to me. Is there a way I can download an official version of 1703 to create a UEFI DVD? Thanks in advance, any other suggestions would be appreciated :-) TL;DR: 1709 Broke my Laptop, need to rollback to 1703 but don't know where to download 1703 System Specs: OS: Windows 10 Home Version: 10.0.16299 Build 16299 Model: HP 15 n232sa [link] [comments] |

Is my PSU failing? PC freezing and rebooting while gaming. Posted: 07 Jan 2018 05:25 PM PST I bought a GALAX GTX 1060 6GB and now my PC is rebooting when I'm gaming,it was happening in DOOM and is also happening in Batman:Arkham Knight.I have already checked temperatures, the GTX 1060 temp was 74°C and the CPU was at 58°C. I have used DDU to uninstall the old GPU drivers and install new ones and have done a clean windows installation to make sure it wasn't a software problem. Specs GPU:GALAX GTX 1060 6GB CPU:FX 8350 MOBO: Gigabyte MA78LMT-USB3 RAM: 8GB DDR3 Power Supply: Corsair CX600 OS: Windows 10 Home My biggest suspect is the PSU since I've heard it isn't good. The PC was also completely freezing in Just cause 3 and Life is Strange making me mannualy restart it. My headset also randomly stops emitting sound and only goes back to normal when I unplug it and plug it again. [link] [comments] |
Mouse wheel not working properly: scrolling randomly starts in opposite direction, page jumps Posted: 08 Jan 2018 03:05 AM PST I have Windows 8.1. and very generic noname mouse. I started to notice that the wheel doesn't work as it should. When I scroll the page, part of the scrolling movement happens in opposite direction, sometimes the page "jumps" up or down awkwardly, sometimes scroll works in one direction, but not the other. I though it is a hardware problem, so I bought a new mouse, but after about 1 or 2 days, it behaves exactly the same. Do you have some hints how to fix this? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
7zip-error message: "Zip file is invalid" Posted: 08 Jan 2018 02:58 AM PST Hi, I've created a backup of a folder with some system subfolders. When I zipped that folder, I received the message that I don't have access rights to some files. I chose the option to skip those files, so they don't get added to the zip-file. I then copied the ca. 3 GB file to another SSD on my system. Later, when I needed some files from that backup, I tried to extract the zip-file but received the error message that the file is invalid. I've used 7zip to zip the file and for my attempts to extract it. I used the same program and method for two other folders and it worked fine for them (one was over 100 GB big). It's just this folder that gives me trouble and of course it's the most important one (the user directory of my windows 10 installation). Does someone have an idea what I can do now? How to remove specific supercookie...? Posted: 08 Jan 2018 02:53 AM PST I think that my laptop has been infected with a supercookie from https://www.kongregate.com/. Its a flash and Unity 3d Web player game hosting website. No matter how many times I clear my cookies, delete my user profile, or uninstall Google Chrome - it always displays a particular screen. Here a couple details that might help diagnose this problem... It only happens in Google Chrome It doesn't happen in Icnognito mode It affects no other browsers I already tried clearing cookies and uninstalling Google Chrome. Neither worked. [link] [comments] |
An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file - Error 0×8007045D Posted: 08 Jan 2018 02:51 AM PST Hey guys, when trying to transfer a file from my HDD to my SSD, I get the following error partway through the transfer. Posted: 08 Jan 2018 02:44 AM PST My ZTE ZMAX 2 cell phone is stuck in a power button bootloop. The power button plunger snapped off on the logic board. It thinks that the power button is permanently ON. It is like a magic hand is holding down the power button permanently. I can boot into recovery mode for 2 seconds before the phone reboots from the stuck power button. My idiot monkey brain thought "I should just rip the damn power button off the logic board". Can I bypass the power button ON signal by removing the whole power button? [link] [comments] |
