Bluetooth Permissions by App - Is there a way to disable certain apps from accessing bluetooth? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 07:05 PM PST After a weekend of using my phone, I jump in my car for my commute, start driving, only to discover that, after a few minutes, the Bluetooth is connected to my phone, but it's trying to play some random Youtube video I watched the day before rather than my Pocketcast app. Is there a way I can tell Youtube, video player, Chrome, etc to eff off when it comes to Bluetooth? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
OPO very warm even when shutoff Posted: 25 Nov 2017 08:03 PM PST Yesterday, I noticed my phone (a OnePlus One) was warmer than normal and the battery was draining more quickly than normal, I didn't think much of it at the time as I was in an area with poor signal. I charged my phone in the afternoon and when I checked it that evening it was still warmer than normal, even considering it had been on the charger. I turned it off and was when it got weird, my phone stayed abnormally warm for nearly 8hrs, even with it completely shutdown. When it was finally cool I tried turning it back on, nothing. I plugged it in and saw ( link ). It seems to me like something is shorted and was draining the battery even while the phone was shutdown. I'm not sure what caused this. But I happen to have some spare parts, so I was thinking of replacing the battery and charging circuit, but wanted to know if there was something else I should do? I am a little concerned about the battery causing more damage so I have left it unplugged. [link] [comments] |
[S7 - Edge] Edge screen-esque feature started popping up on my phone? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 06:58 PM PST After the last update, I've been getting this feature that acts like the edge screen, but instead of swiping the tab on the side of your phone you have to swipe upwards from one of the bottom corners of the phone. It has a recent apps, shortcuts, news, videos, and music tab to switch between and it has what looks like a bunch of ads cascading on top of each other in the bottom left of the screen. I know it's not the actual edge screen since I have that turned off, so I wad wondering if anyone knew what it was and how to get rid of/disable it. [link] [comments] |
What are all these @wtf files? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 09:58 PM PST And where did this Dropbox come from anyways? This is SD Maid's System Cleaner log. Here's the screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/aWA5xhA.png [link] [comments] |
Can you allow upside down portrait orientation? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 01:02 PM PST Let me explain the title. I often times use my phone while lying in bed. While I am charging my phone since the plug is facing down (because portrait orientation only works in one direction unlike landscape mode) while holding my phone it gets uncomfortable having to choose between holding my phone up for long periods or resting it on the charging wire(which ruins the wires). So I have always wished there was a way that the charge port was on the top. Well today all of a sudden it was orientated that way, not sure how or why. After a few minutes like this it suddenly on its own it reverted to normal portrait orientation. Now that I know it is possible to orient that way and it isn't a hardware issue, is there a way to make it do that for me? Either a setting in my phone or an app I can download. Thank you for any information! [link] [comments] |
[Help] Play Store doesn't automatically detect updates after factory reset Posted: 25 Nov 2017 06:55 PM PST Hey everyone I did a factory reset on my android device today, and noticed two problems
I do not understand why this is happening, as everything else on my device is functioning properly I tried to remove my Google Account and add it again, but it did not work Any insight appreciated and thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Why am I ALWAYS receiving texts in super short, out of order messages? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 09:08 PM PST Please ignore the super embarrassing/personal texts, but these are the best examples I have. Why are texts being shortened like this? Even normal-length texts are being shopped into 3 parts. Here's something even more interesting: when I copy one of the fragmented messages and paste it into my bar, it cuts it down the same way. As seen here: At first I thought it was just when iPhones texted me. But it's happening with friends who have Androids now, too. My carrier is Sprint. Theirs are Sprint and Verizon. I have an LG G5 running Android 7.0. That's another thing: I SPECIFICALLY DO NOT update when prompted. Ever. I never updated. Woke up one morning and it had updated by itself after weeks of me ignoring the notification. Is this due to the recent update (that I NEVER agreed to)? [link] [comments] |
Galaxy S7 Edge random vibrations?? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 08:53 PM PST My S7 edge has been randomly vibrating and it seems to only do it while Bluetooth is turned on. I have looked for similar problems online and they all said to turn off notification reminder and smart alert, which I have done, and yet the problem still persists. Other suggestions were to try a factory reset which I'm really trying to avoid just because it's plainly annoying to do. Any help would be much appreciated [link] [comments] |
Installing a rom goes through smooth, but doesn't actually install it?? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 08:50 PM PST I use twrp to install a custom rom, the installation goes through smooth, and says "Patching System Image unconditionally." But when I reboot system, it takes me back to my bootloader. [link] [comments] |
Aeroplane mode not turning off cell radio Posted: 25 Nov 2017 08:47 PM PST I have a Nexus 5 running PureNexus ROM. The aeroplane mode toggle turns off bluetooth, wifi etc, but it does not seem to turn off the cell radio. Running "adb shell settings get global airplane_mode_radios" gives cell, bluetooth, nfc, wimax I can turn of the cell radio directly, but only in the dial menu by hitting ##3646## any ideas what I could do to fix this? Help me choose my next phone please Posted: 25 Nov 2017 08:09 PM PST I've been around the block, but missed out on the last few years. I've been doing my reading but I don't know the current states of all the phones and associated issues with them.. Plus I'm super indecisive to boot. First of all I'm on Freedom Mobile in Canada and they use 4/7/13/66 bands for lte though currently they only use 4 in my city. I've got it down to 4 phones, none of which are actually available through local vendors with the exception of the Essential PH-1 through Telus. I'm open to hearing anyone's experiences or thoughts on each, hoping something pushes me towards a specific phone.. Razer Phone - things a beast hardware wise, I don't mind the lowered brightness as I usually run my 6p at about 15% most of the time.. Software updates for the software issues (camera/etc) have already begun to roll out. This phone is about the hardware and speakers since I don't actually play many android games.. But definitely like the ability to do so with that crispy screen! HTC U11 - I used to always run htc till the htc one series of phones went soo downhill haven't done much with them since. I know it already has good developers working on it and it's alot different sense then it used to be.. Oneplus 5T - it's just released I know, but I've heard alot of praise to OnePlus's name that they are good quality and well made. Not to mention the developer forums on XDA still says the 3 and 5 are still some of the highest visited device forums on the site. Lastly, Essential PH-1 - I know this was a huge undertaking at launch by the company and there were issues in the past with them, but have these been fixed and how are they running now? I basically use my phone for reading stuff like FB, reddit, online shopping, and playing music over Bluetooth, and an insane amount of text messages and various other messengers. I also shoot alot of photos both outside in the nice weather and indoors so it would have to have a pretty good camera.. At least equal to my dying Nexus 6p if not better [link] [comments] |
Persistence of Browsing History on Device? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 07:39 PM PST Aside from the data and cache folders for an Android app (in this case Chrome, on incognito mode), by what other means can browsing history persist on a device? Does Android feature additional networking logs, or additional files, which must also be considered to remove any trace of browsing history on a device? If the browsing history itself is easy to remove, are there any other files, like html downloads or learned words, which should also be scrubbed? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2017 06:48 PM PST I've run into a small predicament here, recently I switched to my new phone a ZTE Axon 7, I rooted and installed lineage to make like easier but it hasn't really. The problem is transferring apps such as google authenticator across, I've tried a nandroid backup but once the app restores it can't be launched with it's original data, once the data is cleared it works flawlessly but that kind of misses the point. Anyone have any idea why these restored apps wouldn't be working? [link] [comments] |
Best (looking) checklist/to do list widgets? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 06:41 PM PST I'm a very forgetful person which usually gets me in trouble by my boss or girlfriend. I need a good, functional checklist widget but it also has to be aesthetically pleasing. I'm a huge fan of minimal phone set ups and don't want any ugly, over the top widgets. Sorry if this question has been asked before but I've only owned my Glaxy S7 for 2 days after having iPhones for 8+ years so please forgive me for being a complete rookie Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2017 05:56 PM PST Galaxy S8 on Verizon. I have adhell, bxActions and mega sound installed. I don't see why these would affect the notification volume though. It could be a result of remapping my bixby button. It doesn't happen when I cycle through sound modes, only after its been left on mute or vibrate for a while. Any help is appreciated! I should note, that my single press bixby button is mapped to cycle through my sound modes [link] [comments] |
Retrieving data from old Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S6 phones before I factory reset them? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 05:38 PM PST So I have two old phones that I want to get rid of via donation/selling/launching into space/etc, but before I do so I want to factory reset them, but before I do that, I'd like to have a way to cleanly remove the data/pics/texts/etc from them and perhaps dump them somewhere on a flash drive on a zipped file or something. How do I do this most efficiently? Keep in mind that these are phones without service. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
What tablets to target for Cyber Monday? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 09:40 AM PST I'm looking to pick up a tablet on Monday. What should I be considering? Is the top tier worth the extra cost or is (for example) the Samsung Tab S2 pretty close to top specs for a lot less? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2017 10:16 AM PST Starting as of last night, I often get redirected to my default web browser to one of those scamming "your phone has a virus" sites. Is there anyway I could get rid of this without completely wiping my phone? I've deleted everything that I had installed that night and the problem persists. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Nov 2017 03:52 PM PST I am looking for a possible location spoofer. Ideally I would like to spoof specific GPS coordinates using microg location providers. Does anyone know if anything like a custom unifiedNLP provider exists? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2017 03:51 PM PST Hello! I have a Galaxy S7 and I'd love to have more font choices besides what I'm able to purchase on the Samsung store. Is there a way to install font files into the phone using my computer, so that way I can choose whichever one I'd like? Or is there a website that offers Android fonts, preferably for free... I'm no Android developer by far but I'm competent in my computer skills, and if I'm not I'm great at following tutorials :) Thanks! [link] [comments] |
[Galaxy S4] Drop down notification for bar can't be pressed to access app anymore? Posted: 25 Nov 2017 03:41 PM PST When I get a snapchat, a bar drops down from the notification bar that I can click to immediatly open into snapchat. Same for some other apps I use. Now I cannot click it. Nothing happens when I do. It's the same for all apps with that type of notification. Does anyone know what I can do? [link] [comments] |
