Google's in-app updates is not working with me at all

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 09:50 AM PDT

I'm trying to implement this feature but no matter what it's not working with me,

I don't know if it's just due to my testing or what but I didn't release it yet but trying to test ot internally.

    What I did:

    • Implemented it then uploaded a debug apk to internal app sharing with version code 1.5

    • Installed it on my emulator

    • Uploaded the same debug apk with a higher version code 1.6

    • Followed the new link to see if the store verified this update and it did (showed me update button instead of open)

    • Went to try it but I don't receive the update popup inside the app

    • And the code displays that no updates is found

Also tried this on my phone and still didn't work, cleared the Play Store's cache too.

Sorry if it's a long post but any help would be appreciated.

How do you get paid on the Amazon app store?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 11:13 AM PDT

I can't find any information on when amazon app developers get paid, or what the threshhold for payment is. Plus in the Amazon developer portal in the "Payments and Benefits" section the only payment method available for my country is by check.

Generate my app website from the app store page link

Generate my app website from the app store page link

When I release an application, I also release a relative website: IOS and Android version, legal documents, contact, etc.

Most of the time, a straightforward site is enough but it takes time to develop.

So I wondered: why not use the data from the app store page of the app to generate a site with everything I need?

I'm building a service to do that and am curious to know if this is something you actually need and would purchase a subscription for?

    Demo with the app Welcome

Data safety form requirements - Warning notification although I already submitted the form

Data safety form requirements - Warning notification although I already submitted the form

Hi, I have submitted the data safety form for my app already a while ago and the data safety section appears already on the Play Store page. However, Google just sent me a message letting me know that I did not fill in the form yet and that after the 20th of July action will be taken.

It seems like a mistake to me. Is anyone else having the same issue?

    Cheers!

Can I use the Android Studio logcat viewer with pre-existing logs from a file instead of a device?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 07:51 AM PDT

Say I have a text file or .log of Logcat logs is there a way to import or read that using the Android Studio logcat viewer. I think it'd be extremely useful especially with the new filter features in Canary builds.

Possible Pitfalls of Updating jUnit Tests

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 01:19 PM PDT

I'm still pretty junior at my job, so sorry if this is dumb (my senior isn't very responsive to ?s).

I'm updating our unit test suite. It hasn't been run or updated in probably 5+ years.

This seems like a decent opportunity to update to newer dependencies. I'm also planning on adding jetpack compose tests since we recently began implementing some of our new components with compose.

However, we don't update dependencies very often. Are there any pitfalls I would need to worry about by updating things like `junit`, `mockito`, `powermock`, etc.?

I know updating some plugins (gradle for ex) will throw off the build process if it doesn't match the version of Kotlin we're running.

    Any other tips or suggestions?

    Extracting saved Spotify credentials

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 10:57 AM PDT

I'm developing on a custom version of Android (AOSP 10) and am frequently re-flashing the image for testing. One of my stock apps i'm testing is Spotify which I install via adb. I'd like to not need to login each time I re flash the device.

Is there a way to extract the saved credentials by pulling files or a db and pushing it again later on a subsequent 'adb push' ? I've tried this with all sorts of directories i've found on the device that looked like they belong to Spotify with no luck.

Since this is a custom, compiled version of Android I have full root access to the device.

This app's UI is so simple and the basic features are so simple, and yet it performs better than top ui design apps doing the same thing

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 12:26 PM PDT

While searching for an app for memes, I came across this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rantaz.sgfunnyquotes This app is unique from the list in that it has a simple but fun icon rather than a forcefull fancy icon, and when I downloaded it and started looking through it, I was amazed at how good the app was, I mean the content the user interface is so easy to understand there are no unnecessary elements in it, and the recyclerview is soooo smooth that for a minute I was just scrolling for smothness and I fell in love with the recyclerview.

After that, I just looked at the downloads of this app, and it was 1 million, and I thought do we really need all those fancy elements, rather than just making things simple to understand

As a result of seeing this app, I feel more motivated to create apps that use the power of experience rather than implementing fancy UI elements

It may seem like I'm overly motivated and maybe I am, but I don't really think new UIs are bad. I'm talking about those apps which don't require that fancy UI for the simple functionality the app provides, but they are still forcing it into the app.

I may be wrong here, which is why I want to hear what you think of what I am saying or what you think about this.
