Desktop stuck in Tablet Mode after Insider Preview 22610.1 (ni_release) update Posted: 30 Apr 2022 02:00 AM PDT After updating to the Insider Preview 22610.1 (ni_release) update last night, I noticed that my Windows Explorer always showed tickboxes, despite the setting being turned off. After a bit of Googling, it turns out that Windows forces Explorer tickboxes regardless of the setting, if your PC is in Tablet Mode. However, MS removed the Tablet Mode toggle from Quick Access settings and the Settings app in Windows 11. I have tried the following:
Up until last night, this was not a problem, and my PC has no touch-enabled hardware whatsoever. Any idea on how to fix this? [link] [comments] | ||

Fixing ntoskrnl high cpu usage Posted: 30 Apr 2022 12:40 AM PDT This here in hopes that it becomes a top google result because what solved this for me isn't listed anywhere on the whole internet... I was suffering from ntoskrnl.exe's high cpu usage, I tried all solutions listed in many sites and nothing helped. Well, it turned out that I bought a new topper for my bed, and one of its sides was blocking the back of my CPU. It was blocking the fan of the back and the Power Supply's fan. I couldn't believe my eyes when ntoskrnl's cpu usage went to the 0s after unblocking the fans! Others might need to clean up the dust, but the computer will overheat regardless if you're blocking the fans! I'm so glad I found what was causing the problem, it was driving me insane! Other things I searched for: Process Explorer system interrupts high cpu usage Set priority access denied (willing to live with it using high cpu if it let other applications with higher priority perform well) Set affinity access denied (willing to live with it using high cpu if it was only on 1 core) Anyway, silly scenario, hope it helps someone else.
