Best gaming laptop deals on Ali Express or the UK Posted: 30 Mar 2022 04:44 PM PDT LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: 1000GBP could afford a little more but would prefer to spend much less Are you open to refurbs/used? -yes- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? -Most important would be performance, screen quality, making sure it lasts a long time and won't become unable to play the latest games in a few years, a large form is OK as the bigger the screen the better, a decent battery would be nice for non gaming tasks- How important is weight and thinness to you? -not important at all- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. -N/A I want a screen for gaming so good quality and bigger is usually better but a standard screen size for this would be fine. - Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming, I want to be able to play the latest games on a reasonable highish setting with 35+ fps I mean games like mmordern triple A PC games If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I want to be able to play new triple A title's at a high setting rdr2 on high, fallout 4 on high with mods and be able to play upcoming new triple A games that come out in the next few years Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? -I just want something that I can game on that has a decent screen and standard mouse and is built OK Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I already have a Windows key, the price of 1000 pounds lightly more, hopefully less is before taxes It would be nice to add an external video card when it gets to old. But I have been thinking what is the cheapist foldable touchscreen laptop with a decent screen that I could to reliably play games with xbox games pass streaming and at least be able to play fallout new Vegas on full decent battery life be able to open multiple office and website tabs and such. It would also be nice if I could duel boot it between wi does and android but I have no idea if that's possible, I know I can duel boot between Windows and Linux but no idea about android. Thank you so much I really appreciate any feedback. Feel free to join our Discord server at: https://discordapp.com/invite/pes68JM for a faster response! [link] [comments]
I got a G14 two years ago, it turns on but the screen stays black. Posted: 30 Mar 2022 04:41 PM PDT I used a 45 W USB-C charger that I always used and when I plugged it in I briefly saw the blue hibernating screen pop up and then my laptop would not turn on no matter what I did. I removed the battery, tried an external display; nothing. Someone, please help! [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Mar 2022 02:54 PM PDT I am looking for a cheap and good laptop with upgradable parts, and the Dell Precision M4800 and M6600. They seem to be sold cheaply with somewhat good specs, and have replaceable parts. I also do not mind the look, or weight of the laptop. What are the cons of the laptop, and is there problems with compatibility in Debian/Arch? [link] [comments]

How to connect a 3.5 inch hard drive with laptop power supply? Posted: 30 Mar 2022 01:30 PM PDT If possible, I do not want to buy an adapter that will externally power the hard drive. I would like to buy something or modify something to make it so that the 3.5 inch hard drive is getting powered from the laptop power supply if possible. Thank you. [link] [comments]

I'm looking for a laptop for college. I'm going to be doing a translation course, so I will probably need software capable of running 2/3 languages. Does anybody know of decent laptops that could handle that sort of work. (I'm really new to laptops so i have no clue if that's a lot or not). As stated, budget is €1500 but preferably between €1000-€1200. The main thing I'm looking for is longevity because I don't really want to be buying a second one during college. Posted: 30 Mar 2022 12:54 PM PDT Hi! Currently I am looking for a new laptop, cause I need it for university and also for my personal use. I've been the last 5 years working with a "fat" ASUS and I want something thiner. I've been making my own research through the last month, and my posibilities have came down to the following: - Lenovo ThinkBook 13s G2 ITL (i7-1165G7, 16gb ram): https://www.lenovo.com/es/es/laptops/thinkbook/thinkbook-series/ThinkBook-13s-Gen-2-Intel/p/XXTBXTSI300 - Dell XPS 13 9305 (i7-1165G7, 16 gb RAM): https://www.dell.com/es-es/shop/port%C3%A1tiles-de-dell/xps-13-9305/spd/xps-13-9305-laptop/cn93522 My main goal is to know opinions about these models, but I am also open to new recommendations. I just have a few requirements: - No touch screen - Good battery life - Preferibly aluminium made - Light and thin - Max. 1000/1100€ I would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. Gigabyte Aero 15W - Issue with Dual SSDs? Posted: 30 Mar 2022 12:34 PM PDT I've had my Gigabyte 15W (8750H variant) for a couple of years now (out of warranty) and have tried to install an additional SSD by switching the existing Crucial 525GB SSD to the NVMe slot and installing the new 1TB Samsung SSD using the NVMe/SATA slot. On bootup I went through the install of Windows onto the Samsung and all was well. However, I've tried to access the Crucial SSD via Windows and BIOS but it's nowhere to be found and I cannot change the boot device. Any thoughts please? [link] [comments]
Is a Chromebook suitable for my grandmother? Posted: 30 Mar 2022 12:31 PM PDT Backstory: My grandmother is the most technophobe person on the planet I think. Through many years I have succeeded to teach her to open Chrome when she wants to Google stuff on the Windows laptop I gave her but whatever action other than that she is completely unable to independently solve. Even whenever there is a simplest of popups like "do you want to close all tabs?" she will completely freak out and don't know how to proceed without calling me. Also the GDPR law messed everything up because she will now freak out on these "do you accept cookies" popups too, no matter how many times I tell her to just press accept she is too afraid to do it herself, I always have to use Teamviewer to do it for her. Luckily I found a Chrome plugin for removing these cookie questions. Now since she only uses Google I thought perhaps her using Windows is overkill because whenever there is some popup from updates or virus saying everything is good... panic ensues. Question: I have never used Chrome OS before, is it possible to set it up so that there will never be any popup question or anything else to click other than chrome and google? I really do mean not a single click or question. [link] [comments]
