(Hardware) Having trouble with brand new ram Posted: 01 Dec 2021 09:55 PM PST Hi! I just bought some brand new 8gb 3200mhz RAM for my pc. The thing is that i have already installed them (and activated XMP) but i've been suffering bad overall performance ever since. Slow software/file explorer opening and bad FPS in games. When finding these troubles i reinstalled the RAMs but did not activate XMP and PC is working fine (a bit sketchy though) but i am not taking advantage of that 3200mhz speed. If anyone might know what the problem is please help me! Sorry for bad english as well. [link] [comments]
New Intel i7-12700K requires more than 700 watts? Posted: 01 Dec 2021 02:22 PM PST Hey, I have an EVGA 700B power supply and I just got an msi pro z690-a motherboard for my intel i7-12700K and the EVGA does not come with enough CPU power connectors to fit the 2 slots seen in the motherboard. Is that normal? Do I need to buy an even bigger power supply? To make it work I would need to unplug the ones in the GPU and use that even though they are labeled PCI and not CPU on the cords. I mean the power supply comes with all kinds of cables that dont fit and maybe I could get an adapter but I don't know if that is safe. [link] [comments]

PC randomly freezes and USB ports keep turning off/on Posted: 01 Dec 2021 08:31 AM PST Hey all - I'm really struggling to figure out what the issue is. Any help would be so greatly appreciated My PC was working fine and then I shut it down, disconnected everything and moved my PC to a new location on my desk. Now it's constantly freezing when I start up (at random times sometimes while the desktop is booting up, sometimes it'll be fine for 10 minutes before freezing). When it's starting up/idling the usb ports also keep restarting (the disconnect/connected sound keeps going off) every few minutes [link] [comments]

BIOS issue with TUF Gaming B450-II Plus Posted: 30 Nov 2021 12:54 PM PST Hey all, I recently upgraded my mother board but it will not post. I have determined that it is a BIOS issue. I have updated the BIOS using a flash drive, but it is still not posting. Is most recent update enough, or do I need to utilize a prior update first? Any help or suggestions is much appreciated! Posted: 30 Nov 2021 07:52 PM PST Heya, I'm in a bit of a complicated situation. My SSD got infected with a RAT (Windows 7, I know, my fault) and just wanted to drag some stuff of it onto my other (Win 10) HDD drive and format the SSD so I can use it again. Now the problem is I, apparently, can't boot into that HDD with the infected drive present, because it seems to take over boot priority. I tried a simple workaround by creating a bootable Linux USB Stick which I can boot from, but the HDD is in read-only state whenever I don't boot into it, so I can't copy files to it. I'm not finding much about this issue, the only things I've tried was using cmd to change the attribute (which failed) and to give the "authenticated users" write permission (which seemed to break my system a bit, so I quickly reversed it). I also made sure to do a full shutdown, although the hiberfil.sys still exists on the drive. Any idea what's causing this and how to revert it? I checked a lot of security related stuff at random and use Kaspersky as well, so I wonder if any of this is causing this issue. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]
