| Parental control app - not the usual reason Posted: 31 Oct 2021 08:41 AM PDT I'm helping a family friend get their kid's new phone. Unfortunately, kid's other parent is violent and destructive. Yes, the courts are involved, but kid still sees that parent a few times a month. I'm trying to find a parental control app - but not to keep the kid away from bad websites (the usual use). I need to keep the parent from installing crap and abusing the phone. Here are some things that have happened in the past, on kid's iPhone. Parent locked out all the apps, including the calculator used for homework (wtf?). Parent used Amazon app to buy stuff (not for the kid) and it was charged to my family friend. Parent locked out phone numbers so kid couldn't call grandparents or other people on the family friend's side of things. We've got to keep this from happening. It's really ugly, and hopefully it'll all be resolved soon, but in the meantime I'm trying to protect the phone, so the kid can take the new Android phone when visiting the parent. Holidays are coming up, so the visits will be longer than usual. The plan is to install the control app on the phone, but only activate it when kid is visiting the parent, and not share the password with the kid. The phone will be super restrictive, but only during the visit. Crazy, but it's the only short term solution we can see. It's a Pixel 5a on Fi, with a family plan. And please - let's keep this about the phone and app; not terrible custody battles. I only included that stuff to show the kind of thing that needs to be protected. Thanks! [link] [comments]  |

| Please help choose a good reminder app Posted: 31 Oct 2021 11:46 AM PDT Hi guys. I moved to android from ios and am looking for an app like this. https://www.dueapp.com/. All I want is to be able to use google assistant by voice to make a reminder. 2nd, after the reminder goes off, I want the reminder to keep going off and reminding every 10 to 15 minutes until I either hit snooze or done. Lastly, I want the snooze buttons to have custom snooze times like "tomorrow", "10 minutes from now", "1 hour from now" etc. any.do has point number 2 but I can't seem to use google assistant to actually create the reminder. I bought the app "buzzkill" and am currently experimenting with that but haven't come up with something I like. Any suggestions? Posted: 31 Oct 2021 11:43 AM PDT I'm looking for a game to play whenever waitig for something, for example at the doctor's office or standing outside the toilets at the mall waiting for someone. I have a phone with an OLED display, so if the game has a dark theme, that's a plus. I'd also like the game to be simple and efficient so it doesn't drain the battery more than necessary. Any suggestions? Edit: "Okay?" is an example of a game that I really like, however it unfortunately has a white theme and drains the battery quickly even on lower brightness levels.. I need to be able to use emergency bypass to receive calls and sms from a specific contact when I'm sleeping, using silent mode or DND. One way I've found is to go to settings>sound and vibration>DND>Allow incoming calls from starred contacts only, and then make that specific contact "starred/favorite". But this seems to work on incoming calls only, I need to be able to get audible alerts from sms messages too. How can I do this in MIUI? Are there any messenger apps that allow me to have individual alerts, and that allow emergency bypass for specific contacts compatible with MIUI? [link] [comments]  |
