    Which should i choose?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:36 AM PDT

Hey this is my first time buying a laptop(also my first Reddit post :)). I am looking for a laptop around 70000₹(950$). I might use it for some softwares like CAD, Android studio etc, also light gaming.

I am considering between HP pavillion gaming FHD[69000₹] and asus rog strix g15[72000₹], what should I prefer?

Also if someone has some better suggestion please do mention (Cause these are based just on my little research).

    I need your advice

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 01:40 PM PDT

Hi! I'm planning to buy a laptop because I'm about to start my college studies (Computer Science, so I have to deal with programming and something like), and it has to be an ultraportable laptop that cost no more than 600€ - 700$.

I've found the two laptops that you can see in the poll, and so: what laptop should I choose?

Feel free to suggest me other laptops too!

Thank you for reading and helping me :)

Need help choosing a laptop for College

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:29 AM PDT

I need a laptop for college which is lightweight and has a great battery life. I hope 8gb ram would suffice for whatever it is that I would do during my engineering course(Computer Science/IT). I also don't mind having a smaller SSD. I will be mainly using different IDE's for coding, Chrome, Discord, Zoom, MS Office and a few other apps for college. With that in mind I currently have three laptops which are in my budget 1. HP Pavilion 14 | i5 1135G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD | said to have a 9hr battery life | ~$915(USD) 2. Macbook Air | M1, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD | said to have a crazy battery life of abt 14-15 hrs | ~$900(USD) 3. Dell Inspiron 14 | AMD Ryzen 5 5500U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD | said to have a battery life of 8-9 hrs | ~$794(USD)

All of these are pretty light and have an avg battery life except the macbook which is what I'm looking for however the RAM and the inability to upgrade it kinda throws me off. The other two can be upgraded if needed. The prices probably will decrease when on sale.

Loud static noise coming from headset/laptop.

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:27 AM PDT

So i decided to watch some youtube. On my like fourth video, the vid was not playing and as soon as i refreshed my youtube, my headset was making this INCREDIBLY loud static noise. That scared the shit out of me and made my ears hurt. To be honest, i am currently kind of scared to put my headset back on because that sound was VERY VERY loud. Can anybody explain to me what happened and if i should worry or not?

    What laptop should I buy?

Should I wait for next year???

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:20 AM PDT

So, I will be joining a university (in India) as a first year this November. And as far as I can see, I think waiting to buy a laptop next year might be a pretty good idea.

    1) Windows 11 will be pre installed from next year, which I guess would be better optimised.

    2) The 6000 series AMD CPU are rumoured to have new rdna something based integrated gpu, and the 12th series Intel ones are rumoured to have a hybrid design.

    3) Since realme and Xiaomi have finally introduced good quality screens at lower prices, hence increasing the competition, I guess other major laptop brand will soon reply back in their next series update.

What are your thoughts regarding this matter???

Thinking of getting a Zenbook Duo

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:05 AM PDT

I'm sold on getting a zenbook duo, however the two models of non-pro model(the UX482 and UX481) have a fair price difference, I could afford either but is the price difference worth it?

    Tablet vs Laptop

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 07:09 AM PDT

Hi, so I'm debating whether or not I should get a cheap laptop (a ThinkPad probably), with some additional upgrades to it (SSD, Ram, etc.), or should I get a mid/high-end tablet (Galaxy Tab or Ipad)

I plan on getting a 17.3-inch gaming laptop that would act as my main device however, its size means I won't take it out as much as a daily driver so I need a secondary device that would provide me portability for things like school work, etc. I'd hope for the device to last a couple of years but nothing crazy.

My budget is around 600-800 dollars.

What would be the best bang for the buck?

Off brand Charger Dock for Dell Laptop?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 07:04 AM PDT

I have a Dell 5550 laptop for work and for my home setup I want a docking station like this but I was wondering if there was a cheaper off brand alternative out there. $150 bucks for a charger seems steep to me. It just needs to provide enough power to charge the laptop, be USB C, and have a few USB ports and atleast one HDMI.

Does my friend really need a workstation laptop for video editing and some 3d art?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 06:24 AM PDT

A friend approached me for a suggestion for a laptop, and presented me for what he was looking for and its a thinkpad P15s with a i7-10510 and a quadro p520. The problem is that it costs 1800€ and for a 4-core 15 watts CPU and a gpu that is based on a mx150 (I don't think quadro optimizations can make miracles) that seems ridicoulous to me.

I know for a fact that the cpu is vastly outclassed by today's offerings, but I don't know how much the little quadro can make.

Would he be fine with something with an 6-8 core ryzen and low end gpu (1650/3050)?
