Why isn't Hey Google function available on my device?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 03:58 AM PDT

Since last update (Miui 12.0.1), when I go to the screen of recent apps and I try to hold one of them so that the little menu that allows you to put the split screen appears, the information about the app opens instead. Is there a any way to fix this? (you'll see what I mean in the video)

Redmi Note 8 Pro Global Stable Update "12.5.1.0.RGGMIXM" [BUGS]

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 11:30 AM PDT

Just updated (received via OTA, phone not unlocked or rooted) and found two bugs: the first one and most evident is that it's impossible to customize home and lock screen right now, they remain black even if you select a picture. The second one is that if you go to Settings->About phone->Miui Version to search updates the classic Xiaomi updater it's now replaced by the stock Google updater. I'm pretty sure this is a bug since Google doesn't release MIUI updates and in this way no other updates will come. Searching in the apps i can still find (but no open) the Xiaomi default "Updater" app, i hope they can push an hotfix through that as a notification popping up since we can't manually search. Feel free to share your experience and post other problems you discovered.

Does MIUI 12.5 really suck that much?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 12:53 PM PDT

I've been reading through MIUI 12.5 reviews and most users are annoyed by bugs and major issues. I am still using MIUI 12.02 on my Redmi Note 9S, but wondering about what lays ahead of me... O_o

    Is it really that bad?

Recommendation of a quality sonic toothbrush

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 01:34 PM PDT

    Hello.

I would like to ask. I'm thinking of buying a sonic toothbrush. I don't need smart functions, display, etc. Battery life and cleaning quality are important. Would you recommend a quality toothbrush to me?

I was watching Oclean X Pro / Elite. It has smart features that I don't need. Plus, I'm not sure if the Elite or the older Oclean X Pro is better. What is your experience with them, please? Can I get better brushes?

    Thanks for the help.

Facing an issue with sending and receiving SMS messages at times

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 09:42 PM PDT

I'm unable to receive a few SMS texts and sometimes my sent messages don't get delivered either. The reason why I know that this isn't my operator's fault is because this is happening for both my sims (they belong to different operators). It started when I turned off one of my sims for a few hours everyday as I wanted to get rid of the calls for a while and switched it back on everyday. But after switching the sim back on, I neither received the messages that were sent to me while the sim was off, but I also started facing issues in sending and receiving messages while the sim was on.

I was able to send and receive everything before this.

My sent messages appear "Received" whether they actually get delivered or not. So it gets hard to even find out which of the messages have not been delivered.

Can someone please help me with this?

My experience with the Redmi Note 10 Pro so far:

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 10:19 AM PDT

It is my first Xiaomi Phone ever and I love it for the most part. I will first go through the bad things and then the good things.

    Bad things:

    1. Bad Bluetooth with their own devices: My Mi Band 5 rarely connects to my phone. On my old Samsung A20e it just connected via Bluetooth with it ACTUALLY connecting. On my Redmi Note 10 Pro it apparently wants to be better but it isn't. It rarely connects with the Mi Fit app but more often with Notify. Its really weird.
    2. No Smart View equivalent: I really liked the Smart view function on my Samsung phones (Quick list of phones I had:

    Samsung Y2

    Samsung S3 Mini

    iPhone 5c

    Samsung S5

    Samsung A20e

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro)

but there only is the stock android "Cast" and Mi Share on my phone which both don't work like Smart View. Even on my Samsung Tablet it worked on my Dyon Smart 55 XT, but my Xiaomi phone doesn't work with it. I actually hate that!

    1. Parts of MIUI: I was kind of already used to MIUI because I actually only know of Xiaomi because of my friend who bought a Redmi Note 8T. He often showed me it because I'm a huge smartphone enthusiast. But when I actually got it, I realised how many bugs are on it, features are missing in Android 11 (notification history), and often blur effects misfunctioned.

    2. It can't handle "Cat controls" or the new status bar:

I tried that with the android 11 Easter egg with the cat that comes up and it only showed up on the new MIUI status bar, I normally have the old one enabled, but as soon as I scrolled down, my phone crashed and became unresponsive. I tried it 3 times, all times it crashed.

    Good things:

    1. It's cheap af with great specs: It is cheap I know but it was the most expensive phone I could afford. All phones I had before it were all used from my family and all didn't work well anymore. My S5 takes liturally 10 minutes to open YouTube and generally isn't useable anymore, my A20e also had like no storage (32 GB) and I couldn't install like anything because the "Other" tab in storage took up 22 GB. I still don't know what that is. (That's not including Android and OneUi storage) I saved up all my money I found (I don't get pocket money from my parents) and got this phone. It's so good with stereo speakers, Amoled, 6 GB RAM and that much storage!
    2. MIUI Battery: I really like that my phone has like 2 days of use when I'm not using it too much. And it has 33W charging which is even better.
    3. The camera: I absolutely love the colours and the details in 108MP mode! I'm actually the one people call, when they want a good photo on a hiking trip or things like that. I have the best camera of all in our family.
    4. The stuff in the package: I got the phone on my birthday so it would fit for me getting a new phone. I opened and unboxed it with my family and my sister got an iPhone XR for her birthday (she didn't have to pay for it) and the only thing in there was a cable and the phone. But when I opened my package there was a case, a charger, a cable and the phone. My parents were really surprised that a case was included in the box as well! I felt really proud of me for picking that phone in this moment.

That is my full experience with the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

I will answer any questions people have of the phone or MIUI, so just reply to this and I will answer it.

(I can't control the numbers in this comment so I'm sorry if the numbers are in the wrong order.)

Also this text is sourced from a comment I wrote also on this subreddit, and I thought I should share my experience with everyone here.

Problem with my photos (Redmi Note 8)

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 05:42 PM PDT

Hi. I hope everyone is safe and sound.

I have a Redmi Note 8 and the truth is that it is a good device. I can't complain.

But today something strange happened, something that never happened to me before. I use twitter a lot, but for some reason the pictures I take on instagram don't show up in my twitter gallery. In twitter when I go to Google Photos I get that the photo has 0B but then in my normal gallery it gets more. This happened to me today. Should I reinstall twitter or instagram?

I didn't really understand why it happened. I would appreciate if someone could help me.

Weird bug since 12.5 (Mi 10 Lite)

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 05:11 PM PDT

Hi, since updating to 12.5.1 my phone randomly reboots and notifications won't work until i open the related app (i.e. after this crash, i won't be notified of any WhatsApp message until i open the app).

So far this happened twice, once even while I was sleeping (noticed it rebooted as the dark mode settings got reset)

Anyone else knows what's going on, or with the same issue?

Recalibrate fingerprint sensor after screen replacement

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 08:38 PM PDT

Edit: Just found the answer, but I'll leave this up in case mods think it's useful for others.

I have a Mi 11 Ultra and the screen got smashed a few weeks ago and I finally got my hands on a replacement. I replaced the screen and everything works great except the fingerprint scanner. I deleted my previous fingerprints and tried to add a new one, but got the message "Couldn't add fingerprint, try again."

I googled and finally found a forum post that mentioned a calibration mode by entering *#*#64663#*#* into the phone dialer. I tried that and nothing happens. No calibration mode. No message. Nothing.

Has anyone else been through this with recent Xiaomi phones? Is there a different code I need to try?

    SOLUTION

To access the calibration menu you need to:

Go to settings > About phone > All specs > repeatedly tap Kernel version until the calibration menu appears > tap the menu button in the top-right corner > Additional tools > 6. Fod fingerprint calibration.

Follow the steps on the screen. The first test is to hole a white cloth/paper over the fingerprint sensor. The second test is a black cloth/paper. The third test, just use your bare finger.

If it says "Test successful" at the end, the fingerprint sensor should be ready to use. If the test fails, try again. I read a forum post where someone had to try three or four times before it passed.

Redmi Note 8 Pro useless for games

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 08:08 PM PDT

This phone drops wifi connections and 4G connection during high cpu usage. Which makes the phone a complete garbage for gaming.

The signal for both sim card networks drops to 0 bars. I'm beside the wifi, it also stops detecting any SSID. What's the point of online gaming then. Stay away from garbage phones. Ugh. YOu get what you pay for I guess

F*cking Xiaomi POCO F2 Pro after a hot day 1 month ago, started turning off and on again, especially during the period of the MIUI 12 update (less than a month ago for me)

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 03:48 PM PDT

I don't really know what to do. I've done 2 factory resets and sent my phone to the support but they rejected it. I live with the costant fear my phone could turn off and on randomly. After sending and then receiving back my cellphone from the support, namely 2 days ago, I've done a factory reset, then it was going all well, yet the same night, around midnight my phone started to turn off and on again when it was connected with the charge cable. Even today the same thing, but worse. During the infinite booting of the phone title screen ("Poco"), there were some lines or squares of raimbow color that reminded me of the lines that pop up when you have a phone with broken LCD Crystals. That happened only while there were problems in booting the phone. Then I went to the MIUI recovery and I managed to reboot system thanks to it.

    Where could be the problem?

Is it possible that even the motherboard is damaged or there's a perfect contact?

Thanks for the replies and sorry for my English but I'm not a native speaker. I've even written fast so I surely made some mistakes

Google Pay works even with locked phone, is that normal behaviour?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 01:14 PM PDT

Hey, I have a Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite and recently started using Google Pay. It works very well, however the phone doesn't even ask for unlocking, fingerprint or anything and just pays with no authentication. I am not sure if this is standard behaviour of NFC payments on Android but I am not a big fan. Basically all a person needs is taking my phone and putting it near a terminal and that's it. Can I somehow set it up so that it requires at least unlocking of the phone before I am able to pay with it? To me personally seems like a big security issue, even though it would be the same with using a physical debit card. Thanks for help.

Xiaomi vacuum mop p creates a mirrored map next to the original map in the app, gets lost trying to get to the mirrored map

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 12:53 PM PDT

Hope the title makes sense. My xiaomi mop p has begun generating a mirrored grey map of the existing one. It pops up in the app right next to the original map, and then it gets 'stuck' trying to reach the new map (meaning, it goes around in circles). Anyone know what is going on or how to fix it?
