I know we like to give a lot of flack to Xiaomi, but I do have to tip my hat for their fast update from MIUI 12.5.10 to 12.5.11 which fixed pretty much all of the issues I experienced when I installed 12.5.10

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 09:04 PM PDT

I recently got a Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro and I am loving it so far. Not everyone likes it, but I love MIUI, it hits just the right balance between iOS and Android, which I love both.

I did start to experience some weird as fuck issues when I updated to 12.5.10, for example the literal screen responsiveness might just pretty much disappear randomly when scrolling Twitter, forcing me to close the app and in some rare cases, even reboot my phone.

There were also some battery drain issues too.

So it's really nice to see that it took only 3 weeks for them to issue an update that fixed almost all of my issues.

It's pretty rare to see in the Android space, for example, I had a weird bug related to refresh rate on my OnePlus 7 Pro that many other people had and it took almost half a year for OnePlus to issue a patch to fix a pretty minor, but a very annoying bug.

So yeah, just a bit of positivity in the sea of complaints. It is pretty dissappointing that these bugs appeared in the first place, but good on Xiaomi for fixing them in a timely manner.

Redmi k40 randomly uninstalls MIUI Screen recorder after reboot

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 08:37 PM PDT

I recently purchased x2 Redmi k40's, on one device I noticed there was no MIUI screen recorder, downloaded ( many versions ) and installed them without issues via Chrome.

    All applications worked as normal.

After Rebooting/powering off my device Screen Recorder will be randomly uninstalled.

One one occasion there was a quick message displayed in my settings stating some similar to " this app was added to a list of something " didn't have time to view the full message.

Second Redmi is fine and both running the same MIUI version v12.0.7

Only been encountering this issue with MIUI Screen recorders

Redmi Note 10 Pro battery is insane... if you turn off its main features.

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 09:49 AM PDT

At first I was disappointed with my Redmi Note 10 Pro battery life. It wasn't bad and pretty average, but I expected more.

Yesterday I turned from 120Hz to 60Hz and switched to dark mode, and my battery life probably tripled. Usually I had to charge every morning, but now I've been using my phone moderately for 2 full days and I'm still at 41%. I believe I'll be able to go third day without charging as well.

The refresh rate switch sucks, but I guess I'll stay like this. I was used to the 120Hz anyway, so it didn't bring me that much smooth joy anymore.

Not sure if this is worth posting, but considering that there are many threads with people being disappointed about the Redmi Note 10 Pro battery, I guess there's no harm in sharing this, especially if this helps at least one person.

How to disable sound effects on MIUI 12?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 10:21 PM PDT

I'm using Mi 11 Lite and I keep the sound effects on smart and while connected to car stereo the volume is low and if i turn up my stereo volume it will degrade the bass, the only way to make it louder is to switch to video or voice but i dont like the added eq (i dont know if theres added eq but my guess is there is, if there isnt please let me know) and i much prefer to not have any eq settings.

Is there a way to disable the sound effects? or am I the only one who have this issue?

Redmi Note 10 Front Camera is not working

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 09:44 PM PDT

My sister recently bought a Redmi Note 10, but after a few days or so, the frontal camera doesn't seem to be working anymore. Every time we switch to the frontal cam, the camera app freezes and blurs.

I tested it on the 1st day and it was working fine, and the back camera doesn't seem to have any problems either. I already did the usual restarts, cache clearing, and updated MIUI, but to no avail.

    Anybody else experiencing this?

Buy Redmi Note 8 for official LineageOS?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 07:54 PM PDT

I'm looking to buy either a Redmi Note 8, or Redmi Note 10.

I don't game so don't care about performance.

Could it be worth buying the Redmi Note 8 instead of 10 simply to be able to use official LineageOS ROM?

Redmi Note 9 | Tweet button doesn't work

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 01:04 PM PDT

So, a few hours ago I was using my Twitter when suddenly I couldn't tweet since when I was touching the button to do it it wasn't working, it wasn't detecting. At first I thought on turning off and on the app since might be a little bug but it continue failing the action, I tried with my other three accounts and neither those accounts worked. I reset the phone and again, nothing. I uninstalled and installed and, you guess it : nothing. Neither I can update it since it is already updated. Also I tried to clear caché of Twitter and of course, still was the problem there.

It's not a ''big deal'' because I can like, retweet, talk to someone on DMs but the basic function to tweet or quote another tweet it's impossible. I would like to know if there's someone who has the same problem since I couldn't find anywhere else that has this problem.

    Xiaomi phones and custom roms

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 03:34 AM PDT

I've been using xiaomi devices for almost 5 years. The xiaomi phones are really fast and reliable in a very affordable price and this is why this kind of phones are so successful.Although the developers of miui make these phones slow and full of ADS (at least in my experience) i remember browsing files in my stock rom and literally the file manager was popping up ads.

I suggest everyone to switch to a custom rom.A custom rom have many benefits that can make your life easier like better community support (depends the custom rom and it's popularity) your phone will not require that match of cpu usage and ram especially if you use microG instead of Google services!

Lineage os is the most popular stable and reliable rom i ever used with weekly OTA security updates for every phone they support

If you want to use microG go for the havocOS which is based on lineageOS

Most of the custom rom is open source so you don't have to worry about security + this way it gives you an opportunity to make your own unofficial version.

Just flashed ArrowOS on my new Redmi Note 10 Pro.

    Posted: 29 Jul 2021 01:16 AM PDT

Some of the things I observed are:

    1. The phone absolutely flies. Other than a few bugs here and there, I am in love with how well integrated the phone is with the ROM.
    2. Other than the needed customisation options, (including my favorite: the inclusion of - TWELVE different types of dark mode themes) the phone is pure stock Android. Alongside this, the phone comes with some fun little goodies, like Dirac Sound Enhancer and, something that my OnePlus 7 took away from me - The option to enable DC Dimming.
    3. I am pleased to report that all my banking and trading applications work.
    4. Given the amount of bloat that modern day smartphones ship with, it felt strange seeing so few apps in the phone.
    5. My phone is still encrypted (somehow) as I did not flash anything that would mess with that.
    6. Only pain point is that it's hard to find good camera modules for the phone. As I have no plans to flash ANX due to the root requirement, and as there's too many GCam modules out there I am unable to test all of them in outdoor conditions. While I have found a decent one for selfies, I haven't been able to find any for outdoor shots.

I think I'm pretty glad I got this phone. Being someone who never flashed a ROM in my life, I think that the impact custom ROMs can have on the software experience is quite understated. If you guys can recommend good camera modules for selfies and the like it would be great.

Also, given the commitment Xiaomi has given to keeping their stuff open source, devs making custom ROMs for this device has never been easier. Knowing this, I think that I'd stick to budget premium Xiaomi phones from here on out.
