I have shortlisted two laptops, that is Asus vivobook s15(intel) and Lenovo IdeaPad slim 5(AMD). Both are priced similarly and the main difference is the processor. I'm aware that Intel's igpu is better and AMDs multi-core performance is better. Both laptops come with 8GB ram(not upgradeable), 512GB SSD. The Asus laptop has a thunderbolt port, intel optane memory and slightly better build quality and colour-accurate display whereas Lenovo has 4 more cores, a better keyboard, brighter screen. Which one should I go for? Also, the Lenovo laptop comes in two variants with the difference being processor (ryzen 7 5700u and older 4700u). Aero 15 with bad wifi Posted: 16 Jul 2021 01:58 PM PDT Just received my new Aero 15 XD today, and it has wifi issues. Ive read that some had problems with it and others didn't. I am getting around 2 to max 7 mbps download speeds right next to my router. While my phone gets around 60. Weird thing is my upload speed on both is up in the 50s. Do downloads and uploads not use the same components, why is my upload 10x higher than my upload? Either way I am looking for a wifi card upgrade but I know nothing about them. Battery replacement or just get a new laptop? Posted: 16 Jul 2021 10:19 AM PDT I have a Toshiba satellite c55 c5240, 8gb ram, intel core i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz I have no idea what any of this means whether its bad or not lmao but it works ok, takes like 10 minutes to start up and lags sometimes but whatever it gets the job done. Things like school work, clip studio paint, can even use/render on after effects. The only problem is it doesn't open anymore unless its plugged in and it doesn't even charge to 100% sometimes. I'm thinking just replace the battery cuz laptops are expensive and if replacing the battery adds a year or two more to its lifespan then id rather just deal with the lagging and stuff, but is it worth it? Better to repair or replace Dell 5567? Posted: 16 Jul 2021 10:16 AM PDT Hi there! I have a four year old Dell Inspiron 5567, 1 TB HDD, Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM. Overall it's served me well and I really like it. The problem is two fold, unfortunately: the battery life has become pretty awful, and it's really slow to boot up and is slow frequently while running. When I brought it in to Geek Squad, I was told they wouldn't be able to replace the internal battery because of its age and all they could do to speed it up was either replace the HDD with a SDD or try a reinstallation of Windows, to try and refresh it. They didn't find anything wrong with the hard or soft ware and essentially said that the battery and speed issues were a result of the age. It was implied that it was more worth my while to replace it than to repair it. I'm not techsavvy enough to know: is it worth repairing (upgrading to a SSD and having them reinstall windows) or would that be a waste of time and money?
