Please Help Transferring Several Thousand Pictures Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:43 PM PST Hello, I have a galaxy S8 and I have spent an ungodly amount of hours trying to figure this out. I have thousands of pictures on my phone (not SD card, that got corrupted awhile back). I plugged my phone into computer via usb so I could just copy the folders over to my PC. Problem is the folders show up (like DCMI, downloads, etc.) but they are empty on the pc but not on the phone. I have tried reinstalling drivers, changing the connection setting on the notification bar on my phone when i connect it, restarting, and so on. I've looked all over the web and haven't found a workable solution. Does anyone have advice for me on what I can do to get these thousands of photos (years of family, friends, memes etc.) of photos on to my pc in a bulk or several bulk transfers? I am at my wits end here. I'll check back on this regularly to provide updates or clarification for any questions to help with finding a solution. [link] [comments] |
Phone Broke, recover possible files ? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 10:37 PM PST Hey all! First time poster with just a couple questions. The phone screen on my OnePlus 3T has broke and died. I believe the android was setup for USB file transfer but I don't think I enabled USB-Debugging as the various recovery software's I have tried fail to connect with the phone and keep requiring me to enable the software. I can't even use the touchscreen so taking screenshots and enabling it that way isn't a possibility. However once I connected to my PC with a USB cable, I can see the internal shared folder of 51GBs or so. For example, I found the pictures I would like to keep and copied them off the folder, but where about would I go to find the Contacts as I'm not having much luck. Overall I just mainly want to recover the Contacts & Photos. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Has anyone tried leaving battery saver on permanently? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 04:30 PM PST The last few versions of Android have a battery saver option. The provided details of what exactly the battery saver does are very vague. It says that a restricts certain background activities. I'm curious to know whether anyone has experimented with leaving battery saver on permanently. Does it actually save significant battery life? And does it come at the expense of any important functionality? If all it does is disable creepy background tracking functions and the like then I don't see why not always leave it running [link] [comments] |

Multi-cast to multiple Android devices possible? Car & House Posted: 01 Mar 2021 10:18 PM PST My goal is to mount several tablets (3-5) around the inside of my car. i.e. Behind the headrests, on the passenger-side dashboard and possibly one in the trunk while being able to have some or all of the following control of the devices:
I am open to using any brand of tablet, Android-only of course. I'd like to add the following info as it may help in choosing what's the best route (if this is actually possible) to go:
I would like to do this project in both my car and in my home. When it comes to Wi-Fi connectivity for my home, I have cat 6 already ran throughout my house so that I can just plug in one of those wireless discs (I forget what they're called at the moment) or even use a mesh wi-fi system which I don't really recommend, however, if it works then it works but I don't see the need to as I do have the jacks already in every room in my home. Can't make a shortcut to an app from the Secure Folder Posted: 01 Mar 2021 09:02 PM PST I have no issue creating a shortcut to a Google Drive document from its own menu and it appears with a secure folder lock icon on a shortcut. But I cant make a shortcut for just an app directly from the secure folder. Did they remove this feature? Samsung A51 [link] [comments] |
How do I change the UI layout of an app? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:47 PM PST I'm thinking of trying to edit my favorite SMS app, pulse sms, to be more tablet friendly. Right now, the left bar on landscape mode in android tablets is just the settings for the app, but I want to make the left side the contacts and the right side the message window itself. Is there any easy way to do that or do I have to know actual coding languages to do it? (Btw this is only for my use only, I dont plan on publishing it) [link] [comments] |
Sim swap changing my Lockscreen back ground Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:43 PM PST Ok so I had sprint, and since they merged with t mobile they made us swap our sim cards from the sprint to T mobile. Now my phone refuses to let me change the background on my lock screen. Any time I change it, it just stays as this indistinct grouping of blueish blobs, like looking at something blue though frosted glass. However if I restart my phone I can see the background I picked last on my lock screen, but as soon as the phone finishes booting it swaps it to this stupid blue blob. Some app must be screwing with it but I have no idea which one! Any help is appreciated. If theirs any detail I can give let me know. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:41 PM PST I'm running a telegram channel to which I forward movies and series from other channels so that I can share If someone asks link for any movies! If those other channels are blocked due to copyright infringement, those files in my channel also gets deleted! Few days ago I came to know about a bot which anonymize files so that even if those channels are blocked, files forwarded to my channel from the bot stays in my channel. Unfortunately that bot is blocked yesterday, and all my effort on forwarding those web series and movies got wasted! My question is, is there any way to retain movies and web series in our channel without getting copyright infringement! I'm not asking that I want run a big channel and make promotions, I just want to retain those files for later use! Someone help - fellow cinephile. [link] [comments] |

What's the best app for remotely controlling, monitoring, managing childrens' android devices Posted: 01 Mar 2021 07:35 AM PST I'm looking to get my son set up with a phone, but I want total control over his device. Sending 'Reactions' to texts from Samsung Galaxy Tab A? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 06:48 PM PST I've been watching apple users get to use reaction text messages for over a year now and my jealousy has reached a boiling point... My Android tablet isn't compatible with Google Messages, this leaves me using Verizon messages which doesn't seem to have the reaction feature. Are there any reliable 3rd party apps that can connect to your existing phone number? [link] [comments] |

I want to install Android 4.4 on a phone Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:37 AM PST I want help to install Android KitKat on a phone named Alcatel Fire C because it's OS (Firefox OS) "died". Someone able to help? [link] [comments] |
Can't install One UI based ROMs Posted: 01 Mar 2021 04:42 PM PST I was using Havoc OS android 10 but I recently decided to switch to a One UI based ROM (Infinity OS, LightROM, ect...). For some reason every time I flash one of these ROMs I the get this error: After this I can no longer install anything that requires the vendor partition so I have to flash stock ROM through Odin. In which case everything is fixed until I flash a One UI based ROM again. My: Galaxy A50 SM-505W My theory is that it has something to do with the exynos chipset. Please help me and thank you in advance. Just to be clear, stock android based ROMs work without a problem. It's only One UI ROMs that seem to cause this issue. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Mar 2021 03:07 PM PST My current device is the Poco F1. I'm really fond of the operating system of MIUI, but having using it since it came out in 2018 it's specs are starting to fall behind and the phone itself is coming apart (internally). I'm looking to upgrade in the spec sheet, but also staying in the same price point as when the Poco first launched. I have read recommendations through and through but I can't make up my mind which one is better for me. I'm on a budget as stated, but can be flexible if needed. I have my eyes on the Pixel a4 and even though its being extremely cheap and with great quality overall, the screen is too small for me. I've glanced over the OP Nord, but the 'flagship' model isn't available in the US, and though there are the N10 and N100 models, I feel like it would be a downgrade for my current specs. Same goes for the rest of Poco's new phones. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

I want to remove a stupid button on my keyboard. Posted: 01 Mar 2021 02:34 PM PST I had this incredibly irritating thing pop up on the bottom of my screen and I can not figure out how to get rid of it or what it's called. It takes an entire row of keyboard space for one button and I constantly hit it by accident because I'm used to the old layout. Can someone help me remove it? thanks Pixel 4 XL, latest android, using latest gboard [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to block receiving calls from Facebook messenger? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 01:51 PM PST I want to completely block voice and video calls from the app. I used to use messenger lite because it didn't have the calling feature but it didn't have the feature to remove wrong messages that I send a lot. I wonder if there's a way to block all voice and video calls from the main messenger app? Thanks for your help in advance. [link] [comments] |
New Update Lock Screen Changes Posted: 01 Mar 2021 10:00 AM PST After last night's update I no longer see the player on the lock screen. On the lock screen, if I pull down, reveal the entire drawer, then push up then I can see the player. In notifications the setting is turned on for On Lock Screen. The app also shows that the lockscreen notifications are on. The apps I'm having issues with is Podcast Addict and Spotify. Also, calendar, text, and any other notifications that normally display in the lock screen also show up as a small bar, then you have to click on that bar to expand, then click on it again to see the full text. Is there a way to fix this? I guess, essentially the lock screen functionality is completely broken after the update. [link] [comments] |
Phone not recognised by Windows. Posted: 01 Mar 2021 07:46 AM PST My Nokia C1 is not being recognised. And I think it is something to do with the phone itself. I have tried countless methods. Any method a YouTube video shows you, you bet I have tried it. So I decided I should plug it in another different Windows PC. Didn't work. Which leads to my conclusion that the phone is the problem. Is there any way to fix this? Is there an app that you can use to transfer files from PC over to Phone? [link] [comments] |
