I tried. My budget is 860€ or 1040$. All I cared about is, it has to be fast and good/solid graphic. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Are any online laptop reviews accurate? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 02:20 PM PST Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a new laptop (RAM on current Dell XPS 13 from 2016 is insufficient) and am really struggling. I looked at a bunch of reviews and decided to get the new Dell XPS 13 with 32GB of RAM, as the best-reviewed PC on the market. The computer is a disaster - there is a fatal flaw with the wifi adaptor which prevents key drivers from talking to the adaptor, meaning that I'm constantly unable to connect to the internet. The solution, which is updating drivers, is impossible since I can't connect to the internet to download them. Anyway, after 10+ hours on the phone with tech support, I'm done, and I'm returning the laptop. However, this means I still need to find a laptop. The disaster with the highly-reviewed Dell makes me nervous about trusting other reviews (are they spending any actual time with the laptop? are they experiencing it like an actual consumer, not with a pre-set up reviewer model, etc). Do any of you have any recommendations on where I can look for actual thoughtful opinion about this stuff, not just a specs comparison? Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Mar 2021 02:20 PM PST Apologies if I'm on the wrong spot. Please delete me is I am So, my laptop of 11 years is finally giving up. I'm looking for a new one but I can't locate what I'm after. I can't find one that scratches my itch. I've always been partial to ASUS intel, gamer-type machines. I'd like to find one with a DVD+/- drive. OK, this will sound petty as hell. My current machine has "red" light-up keys. These have never really set right with me. I've seen some that fit this with bright blue or yellow keys Which seems superior to me. I know the major hurdle is going to be the DVD drives. None of them seem to have them. Has anyone seen anything close to what I'm after? A big thank you in advance. My price range is around 1,300.00. [link] [comments]

Could I switch out my laptop wifi card for a thunderbolt 3 card? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 01:38 PM PST I have a HP gaming laptop with a GTX 1050 and i5 10th gen. It has a wifi card in it, but I don't really use wifi, as anywhere I go I have Ethernet. I was wondering if I could swap it out for a thunderbolt 3 pcie card, and run a egpu of of that. Would it overload the io controller? Thanks https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavilion-gaming-laptop-15t-dk100-8zf33av-1 That's the laptop [link] [comments]

Which is better ? Intel Core i7 10870H vs AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:54 PM PST Hey guys i hope I'm not breaking any rule posting this. I'm buying a new laptop and I need to decide on one of the 2. The intel is a bit more expensive(about 80$-100$). What would you do? Thanks for answering! [link] [comments]
Good laptops vs their price in value? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:36 PM PST I've been given an opportunity for by boss to grant me £200 towards my own computer that his willing to basicallygive the laptop to him but asks I use it sometimes in a pinch as needed outside of work hours. Which I will, I really appreciate the gesture. My budget is around £300. I really want something I can use for work and maybe play some cheeky games like tarreri and C&C 3 egs in lunch breaks. Will this budget be enough to buy a machine like that? Or should I not bother about his grant at all and purely use his own workstation? What are some of the best deals (uk) I can find for around £500? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:25 PM PST I don't know if there is a sub somewhere that would be more appropriate , and if there is I would appreciate somebody steering me that way. Most of y'all have read my post, and for those who haven't, I'm an old retired trucker living in a rest home down here in Texas. I draw Social Security retirement, but then under the rules for Medicaid, I am only allowed a $60 that month "allowance" to purchase things non-medical. By that I mean clothes, snacks , hygiene Etc. So I don't have very much to play with. Actually, I tend to run out of money halfway through the month. Last year I had I had a fairly nice laptop. Up until the day when I turned it on and smoke came up out of it. It hasn't worked since. Became a boat anchor I think for a very small boat. So I am looking for a laptop that will allow me to do some writing and be easier for me to see. Even though I had cataracts removed from both eyes oh, it's difficult for me to focus on this phone screen for very long at all. And I'm thinking that perhaps there's somebody out there that bought themselves a new laptop, but still have another one that they're not using. I could certainly use it. So if somebody could steer me to a sub where I could possibly get hooked up with a donor , I would certainly appreciate it. And if I am breaking any rules by posting this request , I would also appreciate it if somebody will point that out to me so I can delete it. Is my daddy always used to say oh, nothing ventured nothing gained. Thanks for taking the time to read this. [link] [comments]
Any other high refresh-rate laptops with a 16:10 panel coming this year like the Flow x13? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 06:25 AM PST That laptop is everything I want in a laptop, but the trackpad looks awful. Any other high refresh-rate 16:10 laptops coming out soon? [link] [comments]
Need a new laptop that meets my specs. Any suggestions? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:20 PM PST As the title says, I am searching for a new laptop to replace my aging Vostro 3550. Here are my requirements: Must-haves: -50Wh or greater battery -11th Gen i7 -16GB RAM (12 would be tolerable) -1TB NVMe (512 at bare minimum) -new (i'm paying with my 529 plan, so anything used would be difficult) nice to haves: -removable battery, if that even exists in 2021 -14" or bigger display -lower power dedicated GPU like a MX350 -fingerprint scanner -Windows 10 Pro (honestly doesn't matter. I'm drowning in w10 keys but it would save me time) [link] [comments]
Touchscreen long term use and movies any problem Posted: 01 Mar 2021 11:29 AM PST Hi my last laptop was from 12 years ago so I don't know anything about laptops. I heard touchscreen ones are very reflective and glossy, is that right will that bother with long term use or bad for watching movies? That's what I use the laptop for and probably mostly indoor. I was suggested with envy x360 15.6 and from reviews I seen it's looking pretty good, thanks for any help/tips. [link] [comments]

Is the XPS 15 really that bad? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 10:31 AM PST So at first I thought the XPS 15 was one of the best Windows laptops on the market right now. On YouTube, a ton of reviewers are praising it and on paper it looks really good too. But in other places I'm hearing different stories about quality control issues and such like. Right now I think I have found a pretty good deal for last year's XPS 15 model (7590) at around 1300 USD. I'm just looking for a laptop that can handle After Effects that is also thin, light and of decent quality. Real heavy lifting will be done on my desktop anyway so if the thermals aren't perfect, that's fine. All the alternatives I have found so far are either overpriced or sold out right now, and this deal is looking like it's about to sell out too. Should I go for it? Or are the issues really that bad? Thank you! If there are obvious issues with some models I don't even really mind sending it back the first time if I find such an issue. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Mar 2021 10:13 AM PST My laptop crashes very often (weird lines over the screen, not responding to anything). It's an Asus K53SC and I would like to sell it but obviously noone would want a crashing laptop. I know this stuff can happen with dead ram, but can I find out if this is the case? i5-2430m 2x4gb ddr3 asint Crucial bx500 120gb GT 520MX [link] [comments]
