Google pixel 3 won't keep the notification tone I pick for contacts Posted: 28 Feb 2021 03:21 PM PST I noticed a few months ago that my wife's text notifications are the same sound as everything else! I know I'm in the right place... Messages > my wife > 3 dots > details > notifications > advanced > sound > my sound I set. But it doesn't actually use the sound I set. What gives?!?! Posted: 28 Feb 2021 06:39 PM PST Everyday at 7:30pm my samsung android a70 suddenly restarts with no warning. I looked at setting -(from android 10 os) device care - advanced - auto restart and it's not on, yet it happened the day after. My only hint is a faint memory when I had a night owl schedule and set some sort of auto restart when I was asleep but I didn't find any good search result. I'm hoping ppl here can help me find a new path to find where i could find a fix Edit: after each restart. The phone doesn't read the sd card because it's corrupted. Simply opening and closing the ad slot again fixes the problem [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to block an app from being downloaded? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 06:12 PM PST Someone is addicted to a certain app and if i delete the app they can simply just download it again. Is therere a way to completely block a specific app from being installed? For example some random casino game. [link] [comments] |
How to back up Phone with broken screen Posted: 28 Feb 2021 08:48 PM PST Hi, My phone screen died today. Is there a way to back up to a mac from my galaxy s8+ The repair shops i spoke to said it costs 250-300 for a screen replacement but at that point I'm probably better off just buying a new phone. Most programs I found require being able to go into the phone which I can't do. Issue with push notifications.. sometimes not getting them until hours later Posted: 28 Feb 2021 08:19 PM PST Been having an issue with push notifications, for multiple apps, a lot of times I won't get them at all until I go on the phone again and do something like opening email then all of a sudden I get 5-10 notifications from various apps, I not on a power saving mode or anything so I'm not sure what is causing it [link] [comments] |
Using Internal Storage SD Card on New Phone Posted: 28 Feb 2021 11:24 AM PST I recently bought a new Pixel phone and transferred my old phone's data across, but I have now noticed that the data that was on my SD Card (formatted as internal storage) was not moved across. Is it possible to get access to this data on my new device? Unfortunately I no longer have the old phone and the SD Card is not recognisable on my laptop. Thanks! :) [link] [comments] |
All Android One phones have an easy to unlock bootloader? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 08:01 PM PST Do all Android One phones have an easy to unlock bootloader? I have searched a lot but while I can see that many phones do have Pixel-like unlockability to enable community support past the initial 2 years of support , I wasn't able to find if this is part of Google's requirements for Android One. How do you use an external mic into the 3.5mm slot, while also hearing audio from the speakers? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 03:03 PM PST When I plug in my lav mic into my 3.5mm slot, all audio is muted... So I am unable to use it for video calls, only recording. Is there a way to enable the audio to play anyways? Galaxy A71 [link] [comments] |
My Galaxy S10+ got stuck on the mobile provder screen during a phone update X( - what to do? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 12:16 PM PST Hi, all. It looks like during an update to my phone (Galaxy S10+) this morning, it seems to be stuck on my mobile provider screen, for some odd reason. The SS RDX screen says I pushed the keys for 7 seconds, and I'm not sure how to remedy this. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Does clearing OneDrive data from your phone l actually wipe all your content? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 06:01 PM PST One drive's "data" on my phone has reached over a gigabyte and is consuming quite a lot of storage, and I'm wondering if deleting the local data actually deletes everything on the drive. I'm guessing not, but as I have 100GB worth of data on there (I have premium) that I don't want to lose, I want to be sure it won't delete any of it. [link] [comments] |
S7 can only make / receive calls from one cell tower Posted: 28 Feb 2021 05:01 PM PST I'm having a really weird issue with my phone where it appears to only make or receive calls if I'm at home. I live in Ballarat, a reasonably big town with a population of 100k or so, and a lot of cell phone towers around. Initially I thought it was wifi related, but later learned it was cell tower related, as I can receive calls from within a few km of my house, but once I move far enough away to connect to a different cell tower, attempting to place a call will cause the phone to remain silent for 20 seconds or so, trying to connect, before ending the call attempt. Strangely, I still have data when not at home, and can send / receive text messages, but cannot place or receive calls. I have tried the following trouble shooting steps: * Soft reset * Factory Reset * New SIM / new phone service provider (previously TPG now Kogan) * Restart while away from home * Emergency call while away from home This last one (emergency call) did ring after 15-20 seconds (I hung up so as not to place an unnecessary emergency call). I was unable to call out after that though, but coincidentally my partner called about 10 minutes later and I did receive a call. This issue is really strange and I can't seem to find any solutions or similar issues online. If there are any suggestions as to what I could try to fix this issue, I would be very appreciative. Posted: 28 Feb 2021 04:42 PM PST I can't believe it, but it's been five years that I've had this Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It's time to upgrade. I'm deciding whether to stay with Verizon or switch to T-mobile. But I want to make sure I don't lose my critical stuff. But what should I do on my phone before I switch over to a new one?
Anything else to consider? Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Disable samsung gallery notification? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:42 PM PST Is there any way to stop the annoying Samsung gallery notifications on an S20+? I've found a way to "silence" them but it still shows up. I can't find a way to turn them off like with normal apps. I'm tired of having to swipe out the stupid "sync your latest album" notification. I don't user the Samsung cloud TIA [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:42 PM PST So I have an unlocked Galaxy S9 (SM-G9600), still running stock Samsung Experience Android 8.0 Oreo (on the very last update before Pie). I know it's bad that I'm outdated, but I'm uber cautious with it - I keep on top of permissions, background check apps I download, don't allow my browsers download permissions, don't sideload, never click ads (I also use adblocking) or visit sketchy websites, etc. I'm going to make another post soon about why I don't want to update and ask what I can do about it/what my options are, but that's a whole 'nother conversation. For reference, I use the Samsung Gallery, Camera, and Files apps, which is where this is appearing and nowhere else. The phone came with a lot of Microsoft bloatware pre-installed including OneDrive (along with Facebook, bleh), but I disabled all of the apps in Settings when I got the phone and haven't ever touched the apps, unfortunately I can't just uninstall them - the option doesn't appear when press & holding on the app in the drawer, nor does "uninstall" appear in settings, "disable" takes it's place. But about a year or so ago (give or take), I opened up my Camera from the lock screen for it cut out after 2 seconds and went back to the lock screen, so I unlock it and suddenly, a popup was over the currently-running Camera app - seemingly, the popup prevents it from running Camera in lock mode because sometimes it works just fine. The popup looks like this, which doesn't seem like malware to me because I can successfully click "Not Now," and I've already checked the Play Store installed apps -> sort by last used countless times, no OneDrive or anything else that's related. I also went ahead and force stopped, uninstalled updates, prevented it from appearing on top, and double-checked that it was still disabled and had no permissions. And yet it persists, I can't uninstall OneDrive, it's getting more and more common (at first it happened max once a week, now it happens every time I fully restart Camera/Gallery/My Files, sometimes even changing directories), and the crazy part is like I said, I uninstalled updates and don't update my OS so I don't understand how it's suddenly happening at least 2 years after I got the phone. I also don't dare tap "Start Syncing" in case it is truly malicious, heck even if it's legit I don't want to get involved and cause more problems because it's Microsoft we're talking about. The other Microsoft apps installed are Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Edge, and Outlook - I installed and use Edge and Outlook myself, but they were installed long before the popup, the other 3 were pre-loaded. Final note, I've restarted the phone countless times since, but have never factory reset. I'm sick of it, and I'm sick of having Microsoft and Facebook bloatware on my phone. I put off fixing it too long because I had exhausted my options and I figured it wasn't intrusive/often enough to warrant any more effort, but I'm so done with it, I should have fixed it when it cropped up. What can I do? I suppose it could be a third party app I've downloaded, but the problem has been around a while, I have no idea what could have caused it so I'd have to wipe everything. I know I'll need backups, I do have Samsung's automatic cloud backup and I can backup with Google Drive as well, but my USB-C port no longer charges or shows up on Windows for file transfers regardless of what cord or PC I use, so I can't do a full ADB backup, but I could maybe use the MicroSD slot to do it. I would like to avoid rooting, but I have no problem with using my PC and some basic terminal commands if that's what's needed, so long as I can do them without a wired connection. Videos from Android device wrong height/width? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:31 PM PST When I inspect videos taken on my phone (galaxy A8, android 9) in windows, the "frame width" is 1920px and the "frame height" is 1080px. This can't be correct since it's a portrait video. Normally it wouldn't matter much bit when I run it through some automated post-processing it uses the wrong numbers and I end up with a very stretched video (think wide Putin). Any idea what's going on and how I can fix the files? [link] [comments] |
Can't get rid of new voicemail notification on s10 Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:20 PM PST After my most recent software updatefor my Galaxy s10 on Feb 27, 2021, a new voicemail notification is in my panel, and will not go away no matter what I do. The notification itself says "new voicemail- dial (xxx-xxx-xxxx)" it seems to be coming from the phone app, and not the voicemail app. When I press it, it goes to my voicemail and says please enter your password, which I do and it says you have no new messages. I've tried clearing the data and the cache from the phone app, force stopping it, restarting the phone updated the network and the PRL, I've tried calling my phone from a different phone and leaving a voicemail, and then calling and going through it and deleting that. When I left myself a new voicemail the voicemail notification came via my voicemail app and not the phone app. That's normally how all my voicemail notifications are presented; notice the phone app like it is now. it's so annoying just having that notification stare me in the eye I can't stand it. Any advice to get rid of it? Thank you so much Oldsauce [link] [comments] |

Screen Recording on Samsung A11? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:02 PM PST I have a Samsung A11 with Android 10 and everything I've read online said it should have a screen recording option built in but I can't for the life of me find it. I've looked through the quick menu and opened the option to change the button order to see if its just not down but it's not there? Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2021 10:11 AM PST I've had a brand new Galaxy Note 20 for three months. I'm in Colombia. Yesterday phone was working fine. Today I was gonna go on a dangerous adventure, so I swapped out the SIM card and put it on my old phone. Got home, swapped it back in, started getting this error, and can't get internet other than wifi anymore. SIM card works perfectly on my old phone though. Any ideas what's going on? I googled the error and people kept talking about the phone being reported stolen, but this obviously doesn't apply to me since it's brand new. [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to cast YouTube to Chromecast from Firefox mobile browser? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 01:42 PM PST |
Posted: 28 Feb 2021 01:13 PM PST I have a RazerPhone 2. The SD card just went kaput (used multiple PCs, tried various methods of bringing it back to life). Anyway, I don't know how my phone was set up but I can't download/install anything from the Play Store. I tried the whole remove cache, then remove storage etc. to no avail. I tried to download the .apk to install manually but when I download from Chrome it says insufficient space and won't let me choose a local folder. Then I go to Chrome settings to change the default download folder and it has sdcard/downloads but it won't let me change it. Tried with both SD card in and out and various other methods. Is there a way to do this without a factory reset? All I need is for the phone to act as if there isn't an SD card anymore. Edit: I just installed a new working SD card and Android formatted it fine and I can browse it. Still can't download from Chrome or install stuff from Play store. [link] [comments] |
