| Posted: 30 Jan 2021 04:32 PM PST My husband has two computers at work and was complaining that his Computer 2 (doesn't use very often) wasn't hooking up to the network. He could only access his network files from his Computer 1. I was trying to be helpful and was going to reconnect the network even though I don't know too much about networks. When you were in File Explorer and clicked on Network, you could see a few printers and then at the bottom were two files with red Xs through them (network connections?) I must have deleted them instead of resetting them and now they are missing from both Computer 1 and Computer 2. All of his work files were accessed through the Z drive which is missing completely from Computer 2, but on Computer 1 when you click the Z drive on the left it says, "Restoring Network Connections - An error occurred while reconnecting Z: to \\ABC123\Public Microsoft Windows Network: The network path was not found. The connection has not been restored." PLEASE, PLEASE tell me I didn't deleted his work files! I don't know how to reconnect it and at this point, I'm scared to mess anything else up. | Posted: 30 Jan 2021 06:42 PM PST Not sure what the issue is, just happens randomly. System is stable completely otherwise. It only started a few months back when the dolby atmos app started to act up and not acknowledge it's enabled on start up ( not sure if this is the issue, I have to manually open it on every boot up). Anyway, the computer will randomly freeze, maybe once a week maybe once every two weeks, (like I said it's random). Then if you load up task manager it will report no activity what so ever in the graphs, usually it will be what was going on when it froze. Even looking at cam (the nzxt software) all the reporting of that program stops reporting numbers as well. I usually can reboot it by start menu but sometimes have to hit the case reset button. I can game just fine, don't have any anomalies with the fps. Just want to rack all your brains and maybe figure out what's the cause. Thanks. specs x470 aorus gaming 7 ultra 2700x g.skill t z at 3400 rtx 2080 Like I said none of this has happened until the dolby app started being flakey. It first froze while watching a movie on the windows store, i was fooling around with the sound as well, it froze multiple times during that session months ago. So, this is why im assuming it maybe sound related. Posted: 30 Jan 2021 12:55 PM PST It seems microsoft loves adding "features" which no one asked for, before this i just had to press the power button to get to my desktop but now they are forcing upon their mandatory pin "feature" which i figured out how to disable but now i need to enter my password every time i log in and unlike before it wont let me enter new password as blank and there's no option i can find to disable it, even netplwiz doesnt work, its my home desktop for fucks sake, even the android phone which I carry everywhere has a simple disable password feature in the settings. Is there any way to disable this? i hope there is version is 20H2 if it helps [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 30 Jan 2021 04:31 PM PST Hi guys I have the problem, that when i am playing i sometimes press Windows+spacebar at the same time, and that brings the different languages up so i can switch through them. I've deleted English as keyboard language, so the shortcut no longer works and i can play without a problem. That solution comes with i problem. I think, that somehow while tinkering with that i deleted the shortcut for typing "at"/@ which on Danish keyboard i "alt gr" + "2". Does anybody know, how i can get my shortcut back? | How to get windows iso from computer for Booting windows from SD card after ssd upgrade Posted: 30 Jan 2021 06:59 PM PST Essentially what I'm doing is upgrading my ssd on my computer to a larger one, there's only one slot, so what I'd need to do is backup my laptop's contents and everything to somewhere (not sure where, suggestions welcome), then switch out the old ssd with the new ssd, and boot windows from a micro SD card, the problem being I don't know where to install windows from, or where the iso for it is on my computer or if I can even find it on my computer. I had my old HDD (a dynamic disk) put in an external HDD rack and I wanted to copy the files from it to my new HDD. Upon doing so I accidentally converted it to a basic disk and now my partition is unallocated space. | Ethernet Adapter giving invalid IP Posted: 30 Jan 2021 04:08 PM PST So the issue isn't really something that belongs in this sub, but just bear with me. As the title says, I've been having issues with my Ethernet adapter (Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller) giving me an invalid IP every time I wake up my PC. The problem is easily fixed by opening troubleshooting settings and troubleshooting the issue, which results in a reset to the ethernet adapter. First of all, I was wondering if there was an easy fix to this. I've already tried setting the IP assignment to manual and entering the exact info that it gives when it is set to automatic, but that didn't work. And secondly, if there isn't an easy fix to the issue, is there a way to automate the network adapter reset with a batch file in the startup folder? Edit: im running Windows 10 Home. Pc Specs are as follows: Mobo: Asus Prime b450m-a CPU: Ryzen 3 3100 with stock cooler GPU: GTX 1650 Super Gaming X RAM: Geil Super Luce RGB PSU: Thermaltake SMART 500w If more information is needed, just drop a comment and lmk what you need to know! | Windows 10 Audio noise (bootcamp) Posted: 30 Jan 2021 04:06 PM PST I've been having an issue with windows for the past few weeks and its ultimately pushing me away from windows entirely. I have an audio crackle that suddenly and randomly developed 2 weeks ago, and everything I have read on the windows forums has done nothing to solve the issue, even a complete clean install of windows didn't fix this issue. I've tried other drivers (however I'm unable to change bit rate no matter the driver, I'm suck at dvd quality) I do not have this issue when I'm running MacOS, and the speakers (creative pebble plus 2.1) doesn't have this issue when connected to other devices and is powered externally. It only happens in windows and when I'm in game and watching video's, not on the desktop. Again none of these issues I'm getting in Windows are not present in MacOS whatsoever. So we know its not hardware, its not a grounding issue, its not drivers, its not software, and I cant change bit rate so it might be that (how can I force the change) but ultimately its probably windows in the long run. Is there an update to fix this coming in the future or do I just have to suffer with this bug until a real fix is found ? | Wireless Driver Disappeared in Windows 10 Posted: 30 Jan 2021 03:45 PM PST Hi, wireless has completely disappeared from a laptop running windows 10. Options for dial up and Ethernet are under network & internet settings but no wireless. Nothing under Device Manager > Network adapters either. Was working fine a couple of days ago. Laptop hadn't been used in ages so had to run a lot of Dell updates then. Booted up the laptop again today and wireless has gone. Does anyone have any tips to troubleshoot/resolve? Thanks!
