Can y’all help me figure out what kind of laptop I should get? Posted: 24 Jan 2021 03:08 PM PST Hey friends!! I am in the market for a new laptop. Budget is $300-$700 area. I'm looking to play some steam games, but nothing too intense (Think like World of Horror/HuniePop level intensity). My main goal however is to use it to record and edit videos for video essays. I know I'll need a capture card for that, which I already have planned out for later. I'm looking to use easy to use video editing software, as well as an external hard drive for storage. But the most important thing right now is video editing and audio editing. Any recommendations? A friend showed me an Acer Aspire 5 Slim. This one here. [link] [comments]

Massive periodical FPS drops in relatively new gaming laptop Posted: 24 Jan 2021 02:02 PM PST So I bought an ASUS ROG Strix G this summer, and for a month now I've started to have massive fps drops. After I play about an hour of any game, I start having fps drops from 140 to about 20 for about 30 seconds, then back to normal. I have no idea why this is happening, but it's really annoying and I can't figure out what the reason is. I doubt the temperature is the problem, because 1. This laptop has a pretty good cooling system, and 2. I started monitoring my temps and they don't go over 90, they usually stay in the 80s. I tried undervolting, it, nothing changed. If you have any idea that may come in handy, please dont hesitate to comment. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Jan 2021 01:45 PM PST So I need a new laptop for when I start college and just for personal use. I honestly don't know much about laptops and what's best for what which is why I'm asking. anything under $400 will do as long as it's thin so I can take it places and will last. My current one is Hp and i love it but it's just time for a new one. Preferably if it supports windows 10 bc that's what I'm used to. Thank you! [link] [comments]

Best laptops good for everyday use? Posted: 24 Jan 2021 12:25 PM PST So the step-father of my partner uses his laptop daily for every day things such as youtube and word documenting, and also at the moment works with his clients through skype, and is in need of a new laptop which does these things fine, but which has no excess. I'm finding it difficult to know what to advise, so said I'd ask an educated forum. He's looking at something with good storage, a pretty good webcam, and around 400EUR or below if possible. I'd like some advice from you fellows if you can give any! Sorry to bother you, but I'd appreciate your brains :) [link] [comments]
Laptop Scratch Repair (Lid/Body and Screen) Posted: 24 Jan 2021 12:23 PM PST Hi guys, so I got a new laptop recently and I've been doing my best to take care of it. I always keep it in its bag when im not using it and I've never dropped it or anything like that. I have some slight to medium scratches on the bottom of the laptop and on the lid and a few minor ones on the screen. The laptop is an Asus Vivobook, with an aluminium body and aluminium lid. How can I work to minimise these scratches or remove them where possible? thanks for any info guys. [link] [comments]
A cheap laptop for gaming/studying price range around 500€ Lithuania Posted: 24 Jan 2021 12:18 PM PST Hello, to start this post i jus want to say that my bugdet is around 500€ and I am from Lithuania. I will need a new computer for studying because my old laptop is just too slow right now. So firstly I don't care about thickness and about the weight. As long as it does it job its good for me. Then about battery life I would if it could stay on for about ~4 hours. If its possible i would like with 8gb RAM. I was thinking to get a Dell Latitude E6440 and here are the specs: Processor Intel Core i5 4300M 2.6ghz Ram 8gb HDD 320gb 7200RPM Graphics card Intel HD4000 I would really appreciate if you tell me ur opinion on this laptop and I'm open to all suggestions Thank you for reading and i hope you have a great night/day P.S. I am from Lithuania so sorry for any grammar mistakes :) [link] [comments]
HP Omen 15: Which one is a better deal? Posted: 24 Jan 2021 08:13 AM PST Background: I need a laptop - mostly for work, but occasionally for game play. Given its subtlety, price and performance, I became attracted to the HP Omen 15. Challenge: I haven't had a personal computer for a longtime (longer than I want to admit) - and although I've done a good bit of research, I'm still not as familiar as I could be with the latest tech. That said, I've got my sights set on two Omen 15 laptops, but I'm not sure which one is the better pick. One is an Intel and the other, AMD. I'm leaning more towards the AMD since I've heard (especially on Reddit) that the latest AMD's are better than Intel when it comes to cost, performance and efficiency. But, truth be told, I'm just not 100% sure on that. Would appreciate any feedback on the two choices below. Give me the good, bad and ugly. Thanks. OMEN Laptop 15-ek0026nr (Intel)Price: $1,199.00
OMEN Laptop - 15-en0029nr (AMD)Price: $1,249.00

Asus tuf A15/17 vs Lenovo ideapad gaming 3 Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:58 AM PST Both laptops have the same configuration: 4600h Gtx1650 8gb ram I need one for college. Not really a gamer as i only play a lil for fun on rare occasions so refresh rates don't matter to me. Preferably 1 with a good keyboard and something that'll deliver good performance for at the least 4yrs. Getting one of these as they've got a pretty good cpu/gpu for the range and would allow me to code comfortably without any issues.... So which one would be better? Also, side question, are gaming laptops better for coding? If yes/no why? Second side question, will the gpu (gtx1650) help in anyway when start with ai/ml studies and basic dev in these fields? Thanks! [link] [comments]
How to Get two additional displays connected to my dell laptop? Posted: 24 Jan 2021 08:09 AM PST I have a Dell Laptop running Windows 10. It does not have any USB-C ports, but it has one HDMI port and a display port. I have two older Dell monitors with VGA inputs I would like to hook up and not have them mirror eachother, but act as their own displays. [link] [comments]

Bought an used gaming laptop MSI stealth pro and found superglue on it. Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:10 AM PST Under the lighting conditions while checking the laptop, not much experienced with the used products so I couldn't tell if anything was wrong with it but later I saw the bottom side has superglue on it. Asked the guy he said the cover broke and he just used super glue. I know superglue causes cancer if contacts with the skin while its wet. Is it okay to touch the laptop sides in long run when its dried off or is it okay to use the superglue on laptop in general. Does it have any effect on the performance if its near air vents. Don't Buy the Gateway Creator Series (At Least the RTX Variant?) Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:04 AM PST Had the laptop for almost exactly two months and the audio randomly stopped working for everything except the headphone out. Following directions I found online, I installed realtek drivers and the audio actually came back but it just sounded terrible for some reason- very clearly still having some bad problem. So, still following online directions, I restored it to a restore point from three days prior and the audio was still messed up, but I then also couldn't left/right click on almost anything on the taskbar (couldn't even open the start menu!) so I restart it yet again and now get BSOD with "Stop code: Critical Process Died". I cannot boot into Windows no matter what option I select/if I attempt to fully reset it or do anything at all- nothing works. Extremely annoying. Go with a more reputable brand if youre considering a a higher end laptop. [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Jan 2021 10:22 AM PST Hi! So the camera on my laptop has magically stopped working a few weeks ago and I can't turn it on again. I need it for my online classes.
