Is there a way to remove the negative space in "Pinned Tiles"? I want Start to begin with the folder sidebar collapsed or with the folders expanded. I do not want it to start with the Pinned Tiles or All Apps list, and I can't seem to make the grey tile space any smaller.

How do I get rid of blue and yellow shield on desktop icon?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 04:48 PM PDT

I downloaded Genshin Impact and every time I try to run the game it doesn't work and creates a dump file inside the games folder. There is shield on desktop icon and I hope getting rid of that fixes it. Thanks.

I'm not sure what this text document is.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:39 PM PDT

So I was going through all the saved photos on my Windows 10 and I came across this strange text document file I've never seen before. When I click on it, it's an Notepad document. The document is called GameOverlayUI.exe and I think it's something to do with Xbox Game Bar's Overlay? I usually play games on this PC and most of the games I play are from steam. And it logged when the overlay started, when my game crashed, when it closed down, Steam Path, game id command line, Build ID and Game Overlay Process. And it tells me the time and dates in UTC time. I'm unsure what this is so I'd thought I'd ask here just in case if anybody knows what this is. Is it also safe to delete it?

If you know what this is can you please let me know.
    Thanks for your time.

Will my personal files and data be lost if I re-install Windows 10?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 10:33 AM PDT

Due to an unresolvable blue screen (Error: Bad System Config Info on Windows 10, I've tried every proposed solution online a million times), it seems like I have no other choice but to re-install Windows 10.

Will I lose all my personal files? How do I back them up?

    Need help with windows defender

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:33 PM PDT

I'm having an windows 10 home version which came with lifetime validity with laptop, there was no issue initially, but recently whenever I open protection history in windows defender it just freeze for some time and most of the time it closes itself, if I wait for few minutes then protection history opens with a long list of controlled folder access messages which I believe is the reason, I already tried clearing scans folder in windows defender folder and also changed local policy so that it will be cleared on the next day but this issue still persists, any suggestions on what to do

Anyway to use Remote Desktop with Windows 7 Home edition?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:09 PM PDT

I recently had to revert my old laptop to factory settings. I had downloaded Windows 10 when it was free but when I reverted it went back to Windows 7 Home edition.

My old laptop has a broken screen so I want to use RDP from my other laptop running Windows 10, however, I've come to learn that Windows 7 Home doesn't support RDP.

Are there any workarounds or 3rd party alternatives that would allow me to use RDP?

Straightforward way to control Google Home from Windows PC?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 02:42 PM PDT

    Hello,

I have a few smart home items from various manufacturers (Nest, Roku, Smartthings, random Chinese companies, etc.). I'm unable to find a straightforward solution to this problem. Am I overlooking something?

I'm very surprised that I don't see any smart home integration into Windows 10 for these devices. I can find an option to pair Amazon Alexa in the Cortana settings and low-rated Smartthings apps in the Windows and Chrome app stores. That's it.

Please point me in the right direction if any reliable apps/programs/extensions can accomplish this. (Apart from the "Your Phone" app).

Also - is there any way to control all Google Home devices through Smartthings? Rather than controlling Smartthings through Google Home, which is only on Android and iOS.

    Thanks!

Graphics card problems after updating Windows.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 02:02 PM PDT

I just updated my version of Windows and now both my internal graphic cards show a yellow attention sign in Device Manager indicating there is something wrong with them. I am also no longer able to project to another screen using my HDMI port. When I click on either graphics card in device manager it shows "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

When I try to update driver in Device Manager it says I already have the newest drivers. Should I go back to the previous version of Windows?

    iTunes Alternative with Automatic Sorting?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:57 PM PDT

For over a decade I've used iTunes to categorize my music. It's been my preferred program over Spotify because I can add any music to it, I can change the metadata of songs, and I can create smart playlists which can automatically sort songs once I've rated them. I'd like to continue using iTunes but as many people know, the experience has gotten worse and worse over the years. The tipping point was over a year ago now when my computer somehow "lost" all of the songs in my iTunes library; I had a partial backup but because this happened only to the songs in that library, I have not tried to resume my normal music consuming habits.

While Spotify is definitely a great service to use, I'd still prefer to have a way to organize my own personal music library and do the things I mentioned previously. Are there any other programs out there that allow you to sort and edit your own music like iTunes?
