Pomodoro Central [DEV] - Major Update

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 05:31 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I just released a major update of Pomodoro Central. A focus timer based on the Pomodoro Technique, with a focus on integrations with other systems, such as Jira, Trello, for issue and time tracking. The major update consists of Spotify integration, which provides the ability to use your playlists as your timer. When the music is on, focus, when the music turns off it is break time, simple concept, but speaking for myself(as a person who listens to music almost my entire day) this is exactly what I needed. It would be great to hear what you think about the app, and this integration specifically.

Dark Sky should be dead for us this morning....

Still looks like it's working with nothing in my GP account to say I've been credited the $2.99.

Has it died yet for any of you?

    Screen Recorder (Paid) or FOSS

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 11:53 AM PDT

My mid range samsung doesn't get the screen recorder feature included in Android 10 outside of 'game manager'. Could anyone recommend a comparable app. No ads either. Thanks.

Google Pay never finishes setup of Payments on Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus??

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 05:27 AM PDT

Installed Google Pay on my non-NFC phone since I often use Google Pay for payments to the apps installed on this same phone. In those cases, I do not need any NFC capabilities.

Yet, payments never go through. Upon looking closer, Google Pay never finishes the setup. It prompts me to "finish payment setup" on each card, yet ends up with the message "additional features are unavailable on this device". Then it all goes in a loop.

How do I make it work?

Best replacement for lightning browser = SmartCookieWeb

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 04:00 AM PDT

long story short, I've used lightning browser since ages and got too much accustomed to the swipe gesture on left and right so I couldn't switch to any other browser. sadly lightning seems to unmaintained for long and lacks features such as dark mode.

But I found SmartCookieWeb on fdroid https://f-droid.org/packages/com.cookiegames.smartcookie which is perfect. Actually, I didn't pay much attention the first time in fdroid because the description doesn't say that it's based on lightning (GitHub does). It has some new features, dark modes, possible extensions and maintainence. What more could one ask for? Not the author or affiliated to him. Just wanted to share in case anyone's on same boat.

    Clone Apps/Multi Account

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 09:24 AM PDT

I've tried so many apps from the play store but many ask for permissions so that they can operate. Why would a clone app need my location, camera and microphone to play clash of clans?

Could someone suggest me a few apps that could clone apps for me without there being a risk for my privacy and data.

    Thank you.

Scan a tech product's barcode and get reviews from real people ?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 11:55 PM PDT

    Hi,

When on a store I'd like to be able to scan a product's barcode (tech products, not food) and easily get reviews you can trust from real people. Is there a recommended app for this ?

    Thanks.

[POLL] Vote for your favourite Music/Gallery/Browser/etc.

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 12:43 PM PDT

Today u/OnlyJim made a post about how there isn't there a megathread on r/androidapps for recommended apps for various things. Every week people ask about the best email client or music app or reddit client or weather app, etc.

Vote for apps that you'd want to recommend someone, so hopefully the mods can make a pinned post/megathread from the results.

For options, I've included as many popular recommendations I could find from discussions on r/androidapps.

Note- The polls are multiple choice so we don't just choose our one favourite app, but the ones we'd like to recommend someone (still not more than 3 options)

Vote for the best Gallery App

Vote for the best Browser App

Vote for the best Email Client

    Vote for the best Keyboard

Vote for the best File Explorer

Vote for the best Music Player

Vote for the Best Notes App

Vote for the best Weather App

There already has been a poll for the best Reddit Client with 2K+ votes. I don't think there's any need for another one.
    The results were(I think)-

    1. Sync
    2. Relay
    3. Boost

Looking for a note taking app that has these features

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 11:32 AM PDT

The main thing is that it automatically timestamps entries into a running document. This would be where you have a document and when you add to it, it automatically adds a timestamp next to this new addition.

It also would be great if it allowed photos and voice memos. Is there anything like this out there?

What do you consider to be the best "official" social media apps?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 07:26 AM PDT

It seems that almost all of the "official" social media apps (e.g. Reddit, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) are either missing major features, have a bad UI, or are infested with ads.

All that said, which of those apps do you consider to be good, or at least not terrible?

Does Anyone Use Call Control Blocker App?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 10:44 AM PDT

Hi, I'm currently trying out the call blocker app on my lg v30 phone. I was using should I answer app but just thought I'd try something different. It has a trial period and then I switches to the free version. The difference between the two are really not that many, I'm hoping that someone has tried it and if so what are your thoughts about it

What are some useful widgets everyone should be using?

Is there an app that can do this? Or how easy would it be to make it myself?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 02:59 AM PDT

The best way to describe exactly what I'm looking for is to give you an example.

Say I need to be at my job at 8am. I need 30 minutes to drive to work. I need 30 minutes before I leave the house to get ready. Before I get ready, I need an hour to exercise and eat.

What I need is an app where I can input that data (8am end time, 30m, 30m, 60m) and it will calculate the time I need to wake up.

The reason I need this is for work. I'm a truck driver. When I get my orders for the day, I'm given a jobsite location and a time for when I need to be there in my truck. So I wake up, get ready, drive to my company's yard, do my pre inspection, and drive the truck to the jobsite.

It would be so easy to just put in the parts of that equation and have the exact time I need to have each item completed by to stay on time automatically calculated for me.

And no if I made it myself I would not distribute it to anyone else. I just want it for personal use.

Recommend an app to track/count time since certain things?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 08:01 AM PDT

For example stopgaming.club has a timer for how long its been since you quit video games

    https://i.imgur.com/9tdAcVR.png

So I want to track a couple more things, any app that can do this? If you know an app on windows or ios I'm open to your suggestion as well!

    thanks

How can I force a different language in an application that uses the default language of the phone?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 11:02 PM PDT

When the phone is in English the twitter app is also automatically in English so when I search for something on Twitter it shows primarily twitters in English even when I search in my native language.

I would like to know how I can change the language mainly of twitter, as well as how I can change the language of Facebook regardless of the language of the cell phone.

Looking for To-Do app based on the Eisenhower Matrix

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 07:14 PM PDT

I'm thinking about forming my to-do list around the Eisenhower Matrix (Urgent & Important Matrix). I currently use Google Keep, where I don't use the matrix yet, and would like to keep as much connectivity across apps.

Anyone know which apps are best for this?

I am looking for an app that allows me to map a ps4 controller inputs as touches on my phone. Like if I have an emulator on my pc I can map the keys on my keyboard to place them where I want on the screen.
