    Short circuit fried my house

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 02:44 PM PDT

So yesterday the electricity in my house died, the central fuse box was fuming and wouldn't turn on anymore so I called a guy to fix it which he did for a little bit. This morning the power went out again so the technician was back on the scene.

After some fucking around he managed to send an electrical shock to the entire house frying pretty much everything plugged into a socket at the time. The tv, the boiler, the oven, led lights, my wifi extender, my laptop, and my pc too.

Now I'm pretty sure all of it needs replacement or professional repair but the One thing I hope I can save is my pc. Now everytime I connect it to electricity sparks fly out of my psu along with a very loud pop.

Naturally I'd say the psu is fucked for good and needs replacement. But I'm still not sure about the rest of the parts. Does anyone know if all the other stuff in there like my gpu, cpu, cooler, hdd and sdd etc etc etc is fried too? Also does insurance cover this kind of stuff? If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

    My DNS has been spoofed

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 07:08 AM PDT

I apparently clicked on the wrong link some time and was redirected to a bogus page. I'm in the process of clearing up the damage, but I still can't access certain pages. When I try to log in to the bank or a store, I get a Google warning about a bad SSL certificate. It doesn't happen on WIFI or 4G, only on the computer connected by ethernet cable.
    What can I do?

Acer Swift 3 Laptop: When plugged in, the computer switches between charging and not charging every 5-10 seconds.

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 01:41 PM PDT

Not a charger issue, not a damaged charging port (I have replaced both). The charger indicator light on the side flashes every ~1sec. The battery percentage does not change over long periods of time.

I don't have much money right now and would love to be able to fix this problem instead of having to buy a new laptop. Can anyone identify any probably source of this problem? If it's a replaceable internal component or software related? I already removed the battery and pressed the power button for 30 sec, updated drivers etc... The problem seems to be worse when the computer has low battery.

    Thanks in advance!

Samsung distorted gray to pink screen

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 01:30 PM PDT

So I have this problem with my phone recently that when ever I turn my phone off for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, bottom part of my phone will start to show like a dark version of the original display and later will slowly turn into pink like it has screen burn. And then it will have like a lag display on it, but for a while it will turn back normal. By the way, this happens when my phone got drop for like 5 inches.

Is this like a problem within the screen? should I replace it?

    Installing new ram BSOD

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 12:56 PM PDT

Hey, i am using an asus a510u laptop which has a 4gb ddr4 2400mhz ram and i recently bought an 8gb ddr4 2400mhz ram which is compatible for the device and inserted it into my laptop since my laptop is dual channeled. But apparently a few days after i installed my ram, random bsod keeps appearing showing system_service_exception and its says either win32kbase.sys or dxgmms2.sys failed and it also showed kernel security check failure. Ive find some solutions in google, like doing a memory diagnostic tool test, chkdsk scan, sfc scan, dism scan, updating drivers, deleting and reinstalling graphics card drivers, deleting 3rd party antivirus software but all doesn't seem to work. All the scans i did came out negative and my system couldn't find any errors. I really need help on this since i do all my studies in this laptop and i really do appreciate a little guidance from you guys.

Update: another bsod just appeared saying system thread exception not handled

    Microphone Laptop

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 06:17 AM PDT

Hi! My laptop's microphone seems to detect sounds coming only from the laptop itself. Any other external sounds, such as my voice or any noise, can't be detected. I tried uninstalling and updating the driver but it doesn't resolve the issue. Please help! Thank you!

    Stumped by RAM

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 10:55 PM PDT

I have a gaming rig running these specs:Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi motherboard rev. 1.0

    Ryzen 7 3700X

16Gb DDR4-3200 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16-18-18-36 RAM

    EVGA GTX 1070 SC

And a couple of SSDs that don't seem super relevant to the problem here

I'm running BIOS version F40 from May 2019, which I'm updating right now and will update the post when I get back or delete if that solves the problem.

The issue is, I bought a second kit of RAM from Corsair and installed it. It's identical timings, model, speed, etc. It lights up when I install it, and the system refuses to post. If I remove the old RAM sticks, it posts fine. If I remove the new sticks and install the old ones, no problem. If I install just 3 sticks, it refuses to post. If I install one new and one old, it posts fine. I just don't understand what's up here, because a couple of weeks ago I had it running 4 sticks of the same type, but had to do an RMA on it due to a faulty chip on one of the RAM sticks. What should I try besides a BIOS update?

Alright the BIOS update fixed it. I'll leave the post up for anyone googlin

I get a repeating BSOD with a stop code of "MEMORY_MANAGMENT". After this i went into Safe mode and ran Windows Memory Diagnostics and the status said it detected hardware issues, as soon as the Diagnostic test ends, I get a Recovery BSOD with a error code of "0xc000009a" help.

    Hard disk noise.

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 08:28 PM PDT

Hi. New to this sub. But I really need your opinion. I bought a ROG GL503GE laptop around a year back. Every is fine and good, yet this one keeps disturbing me. Every time I boot on my laptop, my hard drive makes this faint clicking, grinding noise. It goes away within a 2 to 3 seconds. And the noise keeps popping up every now and then, although in a far lower intensity.

The thing is, it's not a loud sound. I can only hear it when my room is real quite. And I need to press the back of my laptop to my ear to actually hear it. Is this a legitimate cause for concern?

    PC on but No Display

    Posted: 31 Jul 2020 12:16 AM PDT

Just build a brand new PC about 5 days ago and it's been working pretty well until I tried to turn it on today. The PC turns on and fans are spinning, but there is nothing on my monitor and it just says "No Display."

    PC Specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TbyrNq

I double checked the DP cable connecting to my monitor by using another PC and it works so the cable isn't the problem. I am assuming this is a problem with my RAM because when I turned it on, the RAM was the only piece of hardware without its RGB lighting. I tried reseating the RAM sticks which didn't work and then testing each stick in each DIMM slot which also didn't seem to work (Unfortunately I don't have any spare RAM that I could test). I also turned it on without any RAM sticks installed and the debug lights on my motherboard recognize that there isn't any RAM installed so would that mean that the DIMM slots aren't the problem?

    Additional RAM causing boot issues

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 11:33 PM PDT

    My specs, according to Speccy:

    • Operating SystemWindows 10 Home 64-bit
    • CPUAMD Ryzen 5Raven Ridge 14nm Technology
    • RAM8.00GB Single-Channel Unknown @ 332MHz (20-19-19-43)G.SKILL Value Series 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Desktop Memory Model F4-2666C19S-8GNT
    • MotherboardASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 (AM4)
    • GraphicsSAMSUNG (1920x1080@59Hz)3071MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB (ZOTAC International)
    • Storage111GB TEAML5Lite3D120G (SATA (SSD))931GB Seagate ST1000DM010-2EP102 (SATA )

Forewarning:I'm not technically inclined so my terminology is going to be awful.

    My issue:
I recently purchased my first "gaming PC" (budget buy), that game with all the specs, as provided above. I purchased an additional 8GB of RAM (duplicate to the original) hoping to increase my PC's performance. I opened up my PC, inserted (firmly and ensured it was 'seated' properly) the new stick of RAM - And my PC wouldn't boot up past the initial Windows OS loading screen.

    Observed issues:

    • While RAM is inserted separately, and in either RAM slot, the RAM functions properly (ruling out faulty RAM stick and faulty ports)
    • While RAM is inserted simultaneously, PC fails to load past initial boot screen - Either freezing or falling into a constant 'preparing to repair'
    • While RAM is inserted simultaneously, PC goes through a variety of blue screen errors.
    • While RAM is inserted simultaneously, I am unable to access the UEFI because it appears as if the PC is constantly restarting (thus prematurely exiting out of the UEFI)

In the brief period, that I was able to access the UEFI while both sticks of RAM were inserted, the motherboard did detect both. I'm at a complete loss here and I honestly thought I'd be able to plug and go, but I was apparently very wrong.

Any help, advice, and suggestions would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you!

MacBook Air stuck at Apple boot screen - all boot devices

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 05:56 PM PDT

Trying to figure out why this MacBook Air (2016) won't boot. It wouldn't boot after an attempted software update (hung on apple loading/boot screen). Internet recovery, and a bootable USB flash drive with Yosemite (original OS) all have the same issue. Have cleared PRAM, cant find much on google that doesn't suggest internet recovery or USB as the solution. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.
