    Is this a good buy I’m also comparing this to Acer - Nitro 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 - 8GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 560X - 256GB Solid State Drive or is there any better gaming laptop around $700

    Bought a new laptop. Did a systeminfo check. Why does it say "AuthenticAMD" when it's an Intel processor? Have I been cheated?

    Not sure if I'm in the right subreddit but does anybody know how to fix this? I accidentally fell asleep on facetime with my friend and i woke up to this and my phone was also I on the keyboard part and I might of closed it when I fell asleep and now the screen is broken.

    I am planning on upgrade my old 7th gen laptop. I use it for this purposes: -Gaming -Simulations (solidworks) -3d modelling and texturing -video editing

    The problem is that currently there are not a lot of i7-10750h laptops at my price range. I have found the perfect laptop for me but it still has the i7-9750h, is it worth waiting to get the i7-10750h or not?

    [Buying] A gaming laptop tonight, need recommendations!

    I am buying a gaming laptop, to be used for work & games. I have looked around & the best one I have seen is Acer Predator Helios 300 at $1,200. But for a mere $100 more I can get ASUS TUF Gaming A15 with a 2060 & 1TB of storage. My issue with the ASUS TUF is that it looks too "Gamer" for me & the reviews online are not stellar (Mostly Audio related, though I don't play games with sound often) My price point is locked at $1,200 - $1,300 & I want to buy tonight. I play Mordhau which is pretty taxing & I hope whichever laptop I choose will be able to play that & other taxing games relatively well. Also it is important that the keys are not too small or short keypresses, my $20 Red Dragon keyboard is my favorite I have ever had & I don't want something like the new Mac keys. Also I want it to look semi professional, more of a sleeper. Please let me know your thoughts & recommendations. I know this is a building sub but I am in need of expert advice.

    Whats best laptop for gaming and school. I have $1400 I have looked at several models but open to anything customized or not. I looked into dell g5, lenovo y540, lenovo 5i, hp omen, acer preditor, acer nitro. Give me your best suggestions.

    External display for acer heilos 300 laptop.

    Just looking for a good external display for my laptop, i bought it from amazon and when I bought it i was under the impression that it was 144hz but its 60hz (17.3inch), but I upgraded the ram so now i cannot return it so i am looking to just use a external display so that i can game at either 120hz or 144hz. Pretty damn stupid they can falsely advertise something like that but i use my laptop at my desk 99% of the time so I wouldn't mind just using an external display.     What's a good university/gaming laptop solution?

    Should I buy a low-profile gaming laptop such as the msi stealth? Or maybe an ultrabook with an eGPU?

    Would be amazing if someone could help me out. I have a budget of around $2000 at most. Good specs and low profile/non-gamey look are most important to me. Would be nice with long battery life as well. Thanks for any advice!

    Hi! I'm in need of a new laptop, and I'm not sure what to purchase. To give some context, I'll be doing a good amount of programming on my laptop, college work, and some light gaming.

    My budget is kinda on the lower end—I can only afford to spend 600$ at most. I was looking into the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 which is in my budget (Dell has a July sale in a few days which makes it like 429$ish), but here are the specs:

    • 10th Gen Intel Core i5 processor
    • Windows 10 Home
    • 8GB Memory
    • 256GB SSD

    I'm not sure if this would be a good buy especially for what I intend to use it for? If you have any other laptop recommendations, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you in advance :)

    Should I return my "new" laptop because of coil whine?

    Bought a laptop from a large retailer's outlet, meaning products that has been returned. Purchased a Asus ROG Strix gl503ge. Specs: i5-8300h, GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, 8 gb ram. Only issue I have with it is the coil whine. I read that coil whine often gets louder with time. Should I return it or keep it? I'm really undecided on what to do. I've already returned 2 laptops bought from the same store, because of dead pixel on a screen and wrong model that they sent me, on top of that I had to wait almost 2 months to get my money back, so I'm really exhausted lol. Need advice, return it or no? I bought it for $600 usd (ps, im not from the US). Thanks

    I need some help on deciding a laptop for college. Not sure whether to go on the higher end or stick to the base model of the 2020 MacBook Pro, as I've never had/used one before. (Or if I should go with something other than a MacBook). This is mostly for the portability factor, as I already have a pc at home and do not plan on gaming on this laptop.

    I plan on using this laptop to pretty much do college stuff exclusively: taking notes, writing papers, etc. Whatever you do on a laptop when going into & focusing on engineering.

    Not sure how much of a difference is present or noticeable in processing power and presence of extra ram between base 13in MacBook Pro and the higher end 13in.

    If anyone has thoughts on what I should go towards, let me know! Any help is appreciated!

    New HP Spectre - factory reset?

    Just bought a new HP spectre laptop (15") and want to remove as much bloatware as possible (along with all related files) without losing anything.

    I bought Microsoft Office pre installed, would a factory reset delete this and require me to re-purchase?

    I have an iPhone which I've heard the HP has some software on it for comparability?

    Any recommendations on how to approach this and remove as much bloatware as possible?

    Chuwi vs Jumper Laptops

    Saw these laptop brands on Amazon. I don't know much about them except they are cheap/budget friendly. Some of the specs didn't seem bad 8GB RAM, 128-256GB drive. Processors were on the lower end. Anyways, does anyone know anything about these brands and if they're worth it, or if one is any better than the other?

    Not looking for high powered or gaming capabilities. More just for everyday tasks/multitasking (documents, web browsing, streaming, etc).

    A work laptop (<$1,000) that can also perform as a respectable gaming machine?

    I'm looking for a laptop that can be used in a professional setting while also being able to play games. I'm not running any heavy programs for work (Adobe Suite, MS Office, etc.), and I'm only a casual gamer looking for something that can handle strategy games like Civ 6, Age of Empires 3, maybe Red Dead Redemption 2, etc. I want to spend less than $1k and would like to avoid laptops that have bright lights/logos on the outside (i.e. that look professional).

    My top choice based on some preliminary research is the Lenovo IdeaPad L340. I know that the Lenovo ThinkPads are highly regarded as good work laptops, but I'm not sure if that reputation extends to the IdeaPad line.

    Any other options that I should be considering?

    I'll keep it short. I'm in the market for a new laptop because my old one is busted. Just been looking for a minor upgrade and potentially found a good one... only downside is that it is Windows 7. If I get this laptop, can I upgrade it to Windows 10 for free still? I know this was offered a few years back but I wanna know if I can still do this.
