Posted: 23 Jun 2020 11:36 PM PDT A lot of times I have noticed that Joplin has been recommended as the best open source note taking app. I know there are many out there, but I have decided I want to use only this particular one. I had used Google keep for a while, and I just noticed a few days ago, that it has a character limit for each note. Which is horrible (according to me). The feature I loved Google keep the most was how fast the synchronisation worked between devices. The help I need is with synchronisation: (A) I dont have (and dont want) a dropbox account. (B) I'm not sure what the free account for onedrive provides. (I mean things like trials or storage limits). (C) What exactly is File system? Would that store the files on one devices storage, and then synchronise to other devices (if this understanding of mine is true, I feel that's the best option for me). (D) Is self hosting with Next Cloud the best way? (If so, any guide or tutorial on how to do that). I had downloaded and deleted Joplin a lot of times just because I couldn't figure out the synchronisation. I only need to synchronise between my Android Tablet and my Phone. A small request, I dont want to be recommended other apps unless it is Really better than this one, I've tried almost all of them. And I like this one the most. [link] [comments] |
[DEV] Hustle - A minimal counter app Posted: 24 Jun 2020 06:42 AM PDT A very simple app created to track habits or chores or any particular task. Provides simple counters and an easy to use interface. Deleting a counter is as simple as swiping it away. A dark theme also exists, for ease of use at night. This was created by me as I required something similar and the alternatives were either cumbersome to use or just haven't been updated in a while. Hope you all check it out. [link] [comments] |
Gallery that supports image rotation using fingers Posted: 24 Jun 2020 09:46 AM PDT I recently shifted to lineage OS and soon started to miss lot of subtle but useful features of MIUI , one such is able to rotate a wrongly captured image, or images that are sent to me that are rotated 90° easily while viewing them in gallery using two fingers, is there any app that can do this? I get lot of single page hand written notes images in whatsapp and it's frustrating to always edit them to proper angle. [link] [comments] |

Weather app that is accurate, looks really nice and has good homescreen widget options? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:46 AM PDT Exactly what the title says is what I'm looking for. EDIT: A radar would also be a really nice plus! [link] [comments] |
[DEV] Grow: Multiple choice generator from a google spreadsheet (FOSS) Posted: 24 Jun 2020 04:18 AM PDT Hey lovely r/androidapps people! I (/we) recently published an Android app that converts a google spreadsheet with questions, answers and categories to multiple choice questions. It offers a "jeopardy mode" as well, that switches answers and question. Why did I program it? I studied medicine, which is heavily based on factual knowledge and multiple choice question tests. The most common program used by medical students to memorize facts is Anki, which unfortunately didn't tick off any marks I needed in an app (collaborative generation of a table with other students, automatic multiple choice question generation, seamless desktop and mobile exchange, "jeopardy mode"). So back in medschool I programmed a small terminal program that did this for me but as my peers told me for non-tech people that's not gonna float. As it still helped me a lot in my tests I decided to bring it to Android as well. The backend is written in Rust (https://github.com/mad-de/lib_impp_android) and the frontend is written in Java (https://github.com/Bejaenka/IMPP_android). It's the first version so any feedback about features etc. you are missing is appreciated. A sample table can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14fNP2Elca82rryRJ8-a_XwH3_oZgrJyXqh7r7Q7GuEc/edit#gid=0 Extra info is a piece of information that will get revealed after the correct answer is revealed (I used it for memnonics - eg for Reiter's arthritis - can't see, can't pee, can't climb a tree) - you get the idea i guess. Other than that - if you also have a lot of details to memorize or multiple choice tests which you like to prepare for, give it a shot: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.impp.grow Hope it helps! Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:03 AM PDT From the comments on my Last Post I learnt how to sync the files from Joplin stored on one device to the cloud. In the process I learnt how to use Webdav to use certain cloud services. Now the help I need is to choose the best way to sync the notes: I only use the app to sync text notes (not pictures or videos). From what I read from the last post here were my options: (A) Dropbox: I want a free cloud service, so this one is out. (B) pCloud: Provides 10GB, but to get all 10GB you need to gradually unlock it all, by completing tasks like downloading extra apps. (C) Next Cloud: Has the ability to self host. This interests me. But inwant to know the problems of self hosting. I remember reading somewhere, that unless you are careful you can lose your data. (D)Microsoft cloud service. Are there more? Which one should I go with? Which one do you guys use? Edit: 10GB is more than enough for me. But that amount or something more would be amazing, especially If I decide to use the same service to upload Images or videos later. I'm looking for something free. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jun 2020 05:51 AM PDT Hey! So I decided to switch from Gmail to FairEmail. I can't seem to set up my accounts. I tried the Quick Setup but it doesn't work with Gmail? It says "Authorizing Google accounts will work in official versions because Android checks the app signature". I can't seem to do it manually, it says I used the wrong credentials and that I have to turn on 3rd party apps in my Google account. But apparently it's not safe to do so. Any help is appreciated! Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Auto Reply for Texts, Using Google Messages on Pixel 4 XL. Posted: 24 Jun 2020 09:50 AM PDT Looking for a simple vacation responder for texting, setting a time frame would be nice and if I could whitelist numbers that would be cool as well, but not needed. Don't mind spending a few bucks, but nothing stupid. [link] [comments] |
Is there any app that functions like an attendance recorder ? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 09:31 AM PDT I would like to know if there's an app that has a function to keep log of the day. For example i have attended this class or seminar and gives you the log percent value for the month. [link] [comments] |
Is there an app that allows recording of very long videos mit strong lossy compression? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:30 AM PDT I have a special use case. For medical reasons I don't want to further explain, I need to record myself during sleep and I plan to use my phone for that. So, I basically need to record videos of 8-9 hours length every night. If I do this with the default photo app, I get a video about 70gb size. The quality of the recording is not too important, so my question is if there is some app that would automatically apply some strong lossy compression? Of course, I could always compress the video afterwards, but that would become a bit inconventient if done every day manually. I plan to archive the last months of these recordings on my external storage. Thanks for any suggestions. EDIT: Hm, is it possible to edit the title? As some of you might have noticed, I'm german and accidentally wrote "mit" instead of "with"... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jun 2020 03:44 AM PDT Hi! I have recently made and released a new app, Start Running. It's a workout app aimed predominantly at getting people into running. There are different plans to fit your fancy and also a couple of challenger workouts to help people push themselves to their limit. A few of the features include GPS tracking so that you can track your distance and see your completed route, voice queues to let you know what's up next and much more. Here's the PlayStore link, I would love for anyone interested to give it a go and give any feedback or suggestions you may have. Happy running! [link] [comments] |
Alternative to digital wellbeing focus mode Posted: 24 Jun 2020 05:01 AM PDT Is there an app that makes my phone extremely minimalist on activation? Only showing one screen with 3 apps of my choice and calls? I heard about focus mode on android 10 but it"s not available for me. I also tried using power saving mode but I can's enable an app I want there. [link] [comments] |
Alternative app to SeriesGuide? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 09:29 AM PDT Hey all, Hans here, I have been using SeriesGuide to track my watchlist of movies and series for a really long time. Unfortunately, for the last couple of months some issues started to pop out. I tried to get help to get them fixed bud sadly no answer from the SeriesGuide Community or the devs. I am looking for any app that is as close as it can be to SeriesGuide to try it out as a replacement. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Jun 2020 09:04 PM PDT I'm looking for a day counter app for recurring things. I'd like to for example, count the number of days since my last haircut. Put a date for the event, and then the next time I do it reset the counter and have the app record the period between the events, so that I could develop statistics over time (30 days between one time, 34 days between the next time, 28 days between the next time, etc.). All the ones I've seen so far don't record the count of days in between after I record another instance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:10 AM PDT I used Apk-Editor to change the name of an app to 'Rambo', but Google-Assistant still opens the app when I give command "Open 'old app name'". Also Google-Assistant does not open app when I say the command "Open-Rambo". How to fix it? Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Jun 2020 03:40 AM PDT I've seen screenshots from the flamingo app, but it's not available for purchase anymore. I've tried a few different apps, but I cant seem to find one that shows it the same way flamingo does. This is on the timeline, not when tapping on the tweet to see more information.
