    Hi everyone!

I am an Android developer with just one year of experience. This is my second personal project that I worked with one of my designer friends during the MCO (lockdown) period in Malaysia.

There are some features that I think it's cool:

    • Weather images are custom made illustrations, it will change accordingly to the weather.
    • You can search for cities and add them to your favorite list.
    • Switch between your favorite city effortlessly by one tap.
    • Support time zone – change accordingly to the city you selected.
    • Support both Metric and Imperial units.
    • The whole project follows strictly to Material Design guidelines.

We use OpenWeather API for the source of weather and forecasts.

As I am still new to Android development, feedbacks and comments are much appreciated!

Made a free GeoGuessr-like game to travel and discover new places while you're stuck at home!

    Posted: 02 May 2020 09:59 AM PDT

    Hi all!

I've just published my third application: Guess Where!

It's a game with a simple concept: you are dropped in a random place on Google Street View and your goal is to explore this place to guess where it is.

Other games of this kind exist (like GeoGuessr) but imo a proper Android version was missing.

Guess Where has a simple and clean interface, and the following features :

    • Truly random positions. You'll never be dropped twice in the same place.
    • Google Street View Panoramas only. You'll never come across a stranger's vacation photos, nor a dead end.
    • A playing area that can be customized :
      - The whole world.
      - Continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America. (sorry Antarctica).
      - Countries / territories: 100 are available.
    • Three different difficulties.
    • Multiple map themes: Standard, Dark, Satellite, Retro, Dark Blue... and more to come.
    • Game sharing. Via an automatically generated link, your friends can play the same games as you.
    • Get a score for each game you play and view statistics of your previous games. The score takes into account the distance but also the size of the playing area.

The application is completely free and can be downloaded on the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cannic.apps.geo

I've put a lot of effort into making the game as complete and fun to play as possible. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

    Thanks!

    Recommendation for event reminder

    Posted: 02 May 2020 08:32 AM PDT

    Hello,

I have Samsung Galaxy S20, and both the native calendar and Google calendar reminders are awful and I keep missing them (all my notifications settings are on).

Is there an app that would nudge me (like an alarm, but with a subtle sound) and wouldn't let me go until I acknowledge the event reminder?

I prefer a free app, but if there's a good paid one that would be good as well.

Viber saves media at multiple locations, how to fix this?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 10:05 AM PDT

I noticed that viber saves media at multiple locations :

Images at /storage/emulated/0/pictures/viber and /storage/emulated/0/viber/media/viber images

Videos at /storage/emulated/0/movies/viber and /storage/emulated/0/viber/media/viber video

Also, all media from public groups is saved at /storage/emulated/0/android/data/com.viber.voip/files/.public_cache And it is quite big

So, my questions are, how to keep regular media only in one folder, and how to keep clean my public viber group media?

    Any motion-comics app?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 11:54 AM PDT

In the past, there used to be an app called "Narr8" , which had a collection of various motion-comics (such as here and here). I used to read them.

It's like normal comics, but with sound and simple animation. Adds to the "atmosphere" of reading it.

Are there any similar apps ?

    Battery Health

    Posted: 02 May 2020 05:50 AM PDT

Last night I think there might have been a power surge. My device wasn't charged even though I had it plugged in whilst I slept. This morning the percentage was around 49% and is dwindling.

I have gotten no response from the cable, switched to a spare but the charging indicator comes and goes, I'm thinking that perhaps there is also a fault in the charger itself.

Is there a way or an app to test the health of your devices battery?

Currently with everything closed I don't have the option of bringing it anywhere or purchasing a new charger.

I might be able to charge it slowly by USB connected to a laptop, but really want to know if I'll have to replace my device.

    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

App or apps that allow drawing sharing in online therapy

    Posted: 02 May 2020 05:32 AM PDT

Hello, I am a therapist and with the Covid situation I have transition to online sessions. I usually use paper to share concepts and explain things to patients.

I would like to be able to share some kind of blackboard without sharing the full screen so I can keep a look on the patient's reaction.

I have a Samsung Tab 6 and I would love to be able to draw in the tablet when neccesary while having a call with the laptop (Windows).

I have been browsing Reddit and Google, but can't really find exactly what I'm looking for.

What combination of apps would you use to achieve this?

Thank you and ask for more information if you need it!

I can't turn on "Voice Match" settings for google assistant.

    Posted: 02 May 2020 10:05 AM PDT

So I'm using a Huawei Nova 7i, tried to set up google assistant. But it doesn't respond when I say: Hey Google or Okay Google. I looked into it and I found the setting where you enable google assistant to respond to your voice. The option is greyed out, I tried turning it on but it won't let me. Do you guys know the reason why or how I could fix it? I have permissions all allowed for the application, even microphone. But it still won't let me turn it on. Google assistant still works when I talk but it doesn't respond when I call it.

    Photo app

    Posted: 02 May 2020 08:40 AM PDT

Howdy. Recent went from a galaxy s6 to a google pixel 4. So far Im having trouble adjusting to the difference in how they operate. What bothering me most is the photos app. No option to see camera pics and downloads in the same place, and the editor is godawful compared to the stock gallery app from my old phone. Is there an app that works the same way? To clarify, Im looking for an app that lets me look and edit all my pictures in one app, like the gallery app from samsung.

    Bulk photo crop/adjust app

    Posted: 02 May 2020 02:17 AM PDT

I'm planning on having a 100 or so 16:9 ratio photos printed in 4:3 or polaroid-ish ratio. The photos would get cut and cropped into the 4:3 ratio so most of the photos would be useless and parts would be missing.

Is there an app that lets me bulk crop photos into a 4:3 ratio by adding white/black bars above and below the pictures to avoid anything getting cut off?

    Zoom Video Battery Drain

    Posted: 02 May 2020 07:54 AM PDT

So my snapdragon s9+ (A10, oneUI 2.0) has had otherwise good battery life 2 years in. When i had oreo and pie, id manage about 6+ hours SOT rith about 18hrs overall. (Im on a tmobile mvno and just got A10 at the beginning of March). Since the pandemic ive used Zoom on my devices, and on this phone it kicks my battery in the balls. Hard and repeatedly. Without stopping. A 1 hr zoom conference will knock me back over 50%. Strange thing is other apps (hangouts/duo) dont do nearly as much damage.

You guys getting similar behavior? The battery drain seems to be primarily the zoom app; on my non zoom days battery life is more what ive come to expect. Sorry if this isnt the best forum, but i figure id ask and see if this is an overall zoom on android issue first. Thanks😄

ChronoLines - An app for creating and sharing historical chronologies

    Posted: 02 May 2020 10:43 AM PDT

    Hi everyone!

Recently I have released an Android app intended for creating and sharing chronologies (or time lines) about any subject. I have developed the application because I like history and I think it could be a good tool for sharing knowledge. It can also be used to create chronologically ordered bibliographies or discographies. As an example, the first chronology I have created and that can be downloaded from the app is a list of all the pop-culture references appeared in Ready Player One novel written by Ernest Cline.

This is my first Android app, so I would appreciate feedback and comments.

    ChronoLines main features are:

    • Search and download chronologies from a shared library or import them from received "chrono" files.
    • Create new chronologies or edit existing ones and upload changes.
    • Share chronologies using the remote shared library or sending them to other people as "chrono" files.
    • Use different date formats for your chronologies: only year, year-month, year-month-day, year-era.
    • Classify events in categories that can be separately shown / hidden.
    • Add images and links to events.

    Download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.studio_381b.chronolines

Video explaining how to download a shared chronology: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxsX_MkmTpw&feature=youtu.be

Random Lists - App to help with too many choices.

    Posted: 01 May 2020 10:51 PM PDT

I created an app to help you randomly select choices. Yes, I know. It seems very trivial and there are already too many "random choice" generators available. But don't worry. I've done research beforehand.

I found many of the generators were grossly lacking. They are all very simple. Not good for everyday use. I wanted an app that would be easy to use and allowed better organizing of choices. That is why after months of work, I have created just that.

I am completely confident that this Is the ultimate random choice picker app on android. If anyone disagrees, please comment below.

But before you comment, you have to try my app first.

    It's available here:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=peakvalleytech.randi

I will read and reply to every comment.

    Feedback is appreciated.

Made a Covid-19 related Flutter app. Tried to give it a neomorphic design.

    Posted: 02 May 2020 11:57 AM PDT

    Hello,

I am a final year (Senior) student at University, studying Computer Science. During this quarantine period, I tried my hands on Flutter, and came up with this simple application related to Covid-19. I have done some Android development previously using Java and Kotlin, but this was my first using Flutter.

    Here are the features:

    • Global numbers for COVID-19 updated on a frequent basis.
    • Detailed statistics for each country.
    • Cool graphs for viewing the trends in the virus strain.
    • Important Links and other necessary information.

    You can download it here

The source code is in github

This is my first post on Reddit. I hope you people can suggest me how to improve the app, and give me honest feedback. Thanks!
