Forgotton Anne is sadly 100% forgotten - Review

    Posted: 24 May 2020 04:16 AM PDT

    a nice wallpaper

It's really sad to see a very good game like this get only 50K downloads, Google play store is BS.

    • Developer: ThroughLine Games

    • Publisher: Square Enix, Hitcents (Android/iOS)

    • Engine: Unity

    • platform: iOS, Android, Win, XB1, PS4, NS, MacOS

    • Genre: Adventure, platformer, Puzzles, single player.

    • release date: 9 November 2018 (NS), 16 June 2019 (iOS), 18/12/2019 Android

    • Playable Offline

    • controller support

    • size: 1.35GB (Google Play), 1.43GB after installing.

    • framerate: seems like open frame rate (No fps cap)

    • Price: Free Demo, 7$ the full game, available on Play pass

Now let's begin my spoiler-free review:)

Very joyful 7 hours of playtime, very good story, good enough characters, ok gameplay, and this is expected because this game main focus is the story so don't expect amazingly unique gameplay, get ready to choose the path you want because the destiny of Anne is between your hands.

IMO the story was good enough that I was attached to it and the characters especially Anne, man my emotions are overflowing while I am writing this, this game touched my heart.

I won't forget the beautiful art style, it's like I was watching an animation movie or anime, the game looks beautiful in general except some 3D drawn graphics, but it's really disappointing to see a game that looks that beautiful with almost no cut scenes at all, 99% of the cut scenes in the game is almost 2 seconds long, with a very beautiful art style like this I really wanted to enjoy it, every time a conversation starts between the characters I was sitting in anticipation waiting and praying for a cut scene to start but No:( I am really disappointed.

I encountered 5 glitches here and there while playing the game, I was able to stop the glitching by going back to the main menu in most times, anyway, it didn't ruin the experience at all (I informed the devs about it and they said they will look into it) their response (I played version 1.1, so maybe they fixed it in 1.2)

I Played around 75% of the game using touch controls but this didn't make it harder but of course using the Xbox controller made the platforming a little bit easier.

Now let's talk about the puzzles, not too easy but also not too hard and definitely not in between but close except 1 puzzle that I couldn't solve for 3 days so I asked the devs on Twitter for help so if you needed any help just go ask them and they will help you.

The game also will allow you to choose the other options to see the other endings and timelines but after you finish the game so I think this will give it some replay value.

it looks like there is no fps cap in the game because even though the frame rate was 36-50, the game didn't stutter at all and everything played smooth and the rendering resolution was high enough that everything was sharp enough on my galaxy Note 9 screen but I wonder why the GPU usage was so high (around 47% - 90%), it's a 2D hand-drawn graphics!

There is one more thing that I didn't like and was disappointing but since it is related to the story and its message I won't talk about it because I will have to spoil the story and its events and the ending, so I will just say there are some discrepancies.

So worth the 7$? IMO definitely, it is a great premium game that I don't regret spending 7 hours on.

Have you played any one-of-a-kind Android games?

    Posted: 24 May 2020 02:32 PM PDT

In general, Android games (and mobile games in general) fall under specific categories and have plenty of similar games, if not outright clones.

Have you ever encountered any one-of-a-kind games on the store that seemingly have no counterparts on the store?

My first completed game for Android. A remake of the Viking game Hnefatafl with some modern adjustments and graphics. An interesting alternative to classic chess.

High Rise: a beautiful, simple but challenging city-themed puzzle game, similar to Threes! (This is NOT Project Highrise)

Is there any town/city builder game without in app purchases?

    Posted: 24 May 2020 01:49 PM PDT

[REQUEST] Anyone have any games that are of the live/die/gain/repeat type? Specifically a 2D platformer, similar to Dead Cells, where the more you play the more you gain, but your runs don't directly affect one another. You can unlock stuff in your runs that you can use in later runs.

Name That Game - ~2007-2008 Text Based RPG

    Posted: 24 May 2020 05:59 PM PDT

This is a massive long shot but i used to play a game on Android back in my old university days.
The game was a heavily text based RPG where you would have battle encounters, skills, gold etc. (the usual RPG mechanics)

I feel like the name started with 'C' or 'S' - thought it was Cydonia or something like that, but it doesn't seem right.
    The logo was green/black.

I sunk so many hours into it but i can't figure out what it was called!

Tired of poor games on Android? Have a PC with Steam and good internet? Welcome to the future!

    Posted: 24 May 2020 01:11 PM PDT

If you have a PC with Steam installed and a decent internet connection, you can stream your PC games to your android phone via Steam Link with 4G network.

You can game via touch or gamepad. In the video below I'm playing Slay the Spire via touch controls. However, you could be playing Witcher 3 or any other controller game too.

    Videos:

    1st: https://youtu.be/99PkD76PtS0 (Slay the Spire)

2nd: https://youtu.be/MKamlqQ1Wqc (Shows how simple it is to use Steam Link)

EDIT: Added video playing Dead Cells on WIFI Connection.

    3rd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWkhtOlhCLQ (Dead Cells)

    Advantages:

    • Very low battery consumption, It was draining 10% per hour for me.

    • PC gaming on the go, with 4G connection you can game from anywhere.

    • Good AAA titles and complete games on the go, no Mobile BS with MTX and carrot on a stick psychology.

    Disadvantages:

    • Data comsumption if gaming via 4G

    • Have to leave your desktop turned on at home

Am I the only one who misses single-player (realistic) survival games and accurate medieval games?

    Posted: 24 May 2020 01:00 PM PDT

For single-player survival games the only thing that comes to my mind is Minecraft and Day R (that is not 3D).

I really miss a survival exploration game, where you can build your stuff, struggle, explore and etc that is not minecraft or day r.

Medieval games? Most Medieval games have fantasy included like dragons, fairs, goblins, ogres, magic, shitty armors and extremely unrealistic weapons, and stuff that really pisses me off like Norsemen with horned helmets and giant axes (oh my god, why...) And you know, females wearing armor on their breasts and waist only (lol). I really wanted a realistic medieval game, but I haven't found one yet.

If someone has any recommendations, please, help me.

    A game that I can't remember

    Posted: 24 May 2020 09:59 AM PDT

This is a long shot, but I used to play this android game which I can't recall the name of.

It was a really unique one where you took tiles and swiped them quickly in order to move your other tiles around, which resulted in attacks. There were characters like bahamut and other stuff. It didn't do very well, and a sequel released shortly after but I'm not sure if its still around.
