We're the three co-founding brothers of independent game studio Butterscotch Shenanigans. We made a game called Crashlands back in 2016, and have finished a new game that lets people experience the wild joy of designing levels for other people - Levelhead. It's inspired by the likes of Super Mario Maker and Little Big Planet, but with more of a focus on contraptions and programmable switches, and it just launched on Xbox (also on game pass), Switch, Steam, Epic, the Windows Store, Google Play (also play pass), and the App Store in 12 languages!

We are happy to answer any q's about indie development, launching games, designing for user-generated content, art, etc!
UPDATE: Thanks for all the questions. That's a wrap for this AMA, hoping to see you all in the game.

[REQUEST] Does anyone have recommendations for text adventures/Visual novels that are like the game "7 days decide your story"?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 04:21 PM PDT

So recently I came across the game "7 days decide your story" and normally I do not like visual novels but this one was a very nice experience and I wonder if there are other game like this out there that have such a good story? (preferably with decisions you can make, I say that because normal Visual Novels do not have that). This is the first text adventure/Visual novel I played (and liked) so I don't really know many game in that department myself.

So basically I'm looking for a text adventure/Visual novel game with those points:

    - It is interactive meaning you can decide the direction of the story

-it should have a good story (if possible something along the lines of 7 days decide your story because I look for a game that is simmilar like it.)

-it should be a game with simmilar design as the game 7 days decide your story, however as long the story is good I'm fine with different designs as long it is not a 100% text adventure, so at the very least some bits of the story told with pictures like it is done in 7 days decide your story, or more then that however not less.

Is there minecraft PE for android 2.1 or 2.2 or 2.3?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:52 PM PDT

Is there minecraft PE for android 2.1 or 2.2 or 2.3?

I can't find Minecraft PE for these older android OS. It would be cool if we could play such games on qwerty phones.

Also how can we play this awesome game NFSU2 (even at pixely res & low graphics) on android 2.33 minimum? Any possibilities?

    Does anyone remember Papaya City?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:00 PM PDT

It was a game about building a city, and it wasn't a pain at all. It was fun, but sadly it got deleted a long ass time ago. I miss it a bunch, I remember having so much fun as a kid with it. Wish I could play it again.

    RIP.

    [REQUEST] Game without a paywall

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:10 AM PDT

Hello, I've gotten quite bored with android games, the only thing I'm playing right now is Smashing Four. What I'm looking for is a competitive game:

    • No hard paywall. I understand that in-app purchases are the way to get revenue from f2p games, but I don't want a player with money to dominate.
    • Quick, short games, so I could play without spending too much time.
    • Progression. I want to feel my progress.

Another type of game I could get behind is something solo like Tinker Island:

    • Engaging story.
    • Interesting gameplay that lets you play for 10 minutes or 3 hours.

I apologize for writing only two arguments for the second game, but the ones from above also apply to this one.

Are Area F2 and Rainbow 6 Elite Squad the same thing?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:05 PM PDT

So I heard Rainbow 6 is coming out with a mobile game. Super hyped! But then I saw on the play store that this game called Area F2 came out and is trending. Its literally an exact copy of Rainbow 6 and I'm wondering is this the game that ubisoft is making or is this publisher copying off of Rainbow 6? Just playing this game shows several copyright issues so I can't imagine this isn't Ubisofts doing.

[REQUEST] Looking for turn based pvp hero collecting games.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:02 AM PDT

[REQUEST] So I am looking for a game where: 1. It's PvP, but it can also include a campaign if it has a story. 2. You collect characters to fight for you, think Arknights, Food Fantasy and many idle type games. 3. Must be interactive, the game must have some interactive action where I can choose what the characters do like a real turn based rpg type games. 4. Must be good, I don't wanna get bored in the first hour of the game. 5. People still play it, what's the point of PvP if there is no one else you can fight with.

I know this is narrow the choices a bit much and may need some actual time to find some games to match it but I don't know where else I can go to ask this. Thank you in advance people.

    Best Best Android Emulator?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 10:43 AM PDT

which is not bloated or advertising games on an annoying level?

I tried Bluestacks and i had a lot of crashes along with annoying advertisements. Nox was the same and LD Player also had advertisement.

I don't want to play a lot, just a couple of games that usually drain a lot of battery on my phone. So i don't need a heavy hitter emulator just something lightweight.

Also tried Genymotion, however this one requires VirtualBox installed and i already use VMware for my virtualisation and i don't want to bloat my system more then i need to.

Thanks for your help and opinions!

I don't know why, but I randomly got the urge to play Adventure Xpress from PikPok games.

I see it's no longer available on the play store(to my knowledge) and was after trying to research why that is, I couldn't find any answers. I was hoping someone could shed some light on me?

    A devices question

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 04:22 AM PDT

Hi guys, I'm a PUBG mobile player and I get to rank CROWN now, but my Razer phone is getting a bit old, it sometimes lag and it gets very hot when playing games. The lag and the heat is making it just not fun to play on anymore. So I am thinking of buying a new gaming phone.

I was looking at the Red Magic 5G and Black Shark 3 and I'd like to buy one of them but I cannot decide which one is better. Can someone give me some suggestions?
