Windows 10 BSOD - Kernel Security Check Failure multiple times randomly Posted: 01 Feb 2020 12:43 PM PST Hi, I've been getting a few blue screen crashes lately with the same error, sometimes it's when Im playing games and others it's when my computer is just idle..I saw an old post where they posted their minidump files on this subreddit and someone was able to help them out. I was hoping someone could do the same, it would be much appreciated. Minidump file: https://easyupload.io/ut3bbc [link] [comments]
Windows fails at one the most fundamental tasks of an operating system Posted: 01 Feb 2020 07:36 PM PST A fundamental task of an operating system is to a) manage files and folders and b) let you see what those files and folders are. So how in god's name in 2020 does Windows not allow you to see the full name of a file by default?? https://i.imgur.com/ZRMefTp.png This is a full screen explorer window. It's free real estate! I can think of no reasons to truncate the file name. In order to find out what the goddamn filenames are, I have to either drag the width of the column or double click the divider (annoying actions) or go View in the ribbon and hit a small icon button to "Size all columns to fit". There seems to be no way in Windows 10 to set a default column width, or to size to fit by default for all folders. And most horrific of all, even in the same folder if you exit explorer and come back in again it won't remember and can crush the title column width back to like 160 pixels! That's like 18 characters!! I can't even understand the algorithm of why this sometimes happens and sometimes it doesn't. The official response on microsoft.com seems to be "yep can't do that". Thank you for listening to my frustration fuelled rant. If anyone has a workaround or fix that works for them let me know. [link] [comments]
Regarding migration of my windows 10 from an old laptop to a new PC Posted: 01 Feb 2020 12:28 PM PST ¡Hello, everyone! I'm new here and I hope you can help me with something, I thank you all in advance! So, I'm self employed and for the longest time, I've been working with an old toshiba satelite laptop that I bought with the help of my family back in like 2010, recently I've finally bought a new desktop PC since the old laptop was about to die (I work as a professional photographer, so I was also in need of much required software and hardware upgrades). I bought the new PC on the internet and I had it built by the company that sold me the components of it and it arrived yesterday, yay! The only thing that I didn't bought tho, was a SSD because I already have one (that I bought like a year ago) that I was just planning to migrate from my old laptop to the new PC, thinking it was just a simple as taking it from the current laptop and installing it into the PC and booting it just like so. I called a friend of mine that is a computer engineer to help me do that, just in case, and he told me that it wasn't as simple, because my current Windows 10 is optimized for my laptop and the much newer architecture of the PC might not be compatible with it, he also told me that worst case scenario was that while installing it into the new PC everything might get deleted. So he took both of my computes to do that on his own, I trust that my friend would know how to deal with that, so I'm not that worried, but in case that happens, how could I get back my windows 10? (All of the data of the pictures that I've taken over the years is backed up in another drive, so that's not what's worrying me) Thing is, the laptop is so old, I've already disposed of the box that it came in from the retailer and I'm 100% sure I don't have the installation key of my windows. How could I get it back? And I'm case my friend can't help me migrate the windows from one PC to another, what can I do about it? [link] [comments]

M.2 NVMe takes about 15 minutes to boot. Posted: 01 Feb 2020 10:39 AM PST Hey everyone! Just built my PC about a week ago and two days ago it blue screened. Ran analysis and it was a x109 error or something. Did the research and it said that the drivers were messing up. No biggie, I ran diagnostics and updated all my drivers. What also started happening was that it would take forever to boot. Goes to the BIOS, moves on to the pet where the circle is spinning and loading but the animation is really choppy. Takes like 15 minutes to start but as soon as the session starts, it loads right away. I'm not sure what's after the BIOS and before the session setup (boot loader?) but is that maybe the issue? One other tidbit is that it blue screened on restart last night with a critical power failure. Running windows diagnostic right now (it's been stuck at 21% for an hour), but I'm starting to worry. I dropped a pretty penny on this and it's falling apart very quickly. Thank you for any possible help you can provide! Update 1903 and 1909 not working well Posted: 01 Feb 2020 09:52 AM PST Guys, I come here because I don't know how to proceed with my computer anymore, I've been facing the same problem for days and I can't solve it, I tried two versions of windows. I will detail the situation for you: -a little slow system in general -button start does not work (not even using the mouse to open) -steam disconnects and no longer enters (only the initial screen with the username remains, entering the password does not enter the account)

Clickpad Settings have disappeared again Posted: 01 Feb 2020 09:07 AM PST Last year after my computer forcibly updated I lost the clickpad settings from the mouse properties window which prevented me from disabling tap to click. As was suggested last time, I rolledback the driver and I was good until now. The past couple of day the clickpad hasn't been working properly and I reset my computer but lo and behold the clickpad settings have once again vanished! And as an added bonus, the clickpad won't scroll. Since they dissappeared I decided to update the driver again because, I dunno, had nothing else to do but maybe the scrolling would work again. It doesn't. Does anybody know how I can disable my tap to click and re-enable scrolling? [link] [comments]

It was stuck on some old version of Windows 10) I have an ACER-ASPIRE V5 571P CORE i5-3317U @1.7GHz with 6gigs of RAM [link] [comments]
Issues while trying to type {} and [] Posted: 01 Feb 2020 07:00 AM PST I'm not able to print square brackets or curly brackets without printing single quotes, or punctuation characters: [`]{´} I googled it just to know if there is more people having this issue, and i didnt find something like this, just issues like the ALT GR doesnt work and things like that. I was sooo pissed off, that i installed Windows 7 in a virtual machine just to check if I am stupid and I was doing something wrong, and there everything just worked fine. After that, i thought it was keyboard's fault, so I changed it. I tried 3 different keyboards and it kept happening. Does anyone know the cause of this? Can I fix it? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 03:37 AM PST Hello, I am facing a very weird issue from the past 6 months since I updated my windows 10. When I plug in any headphone or earphone via 3.5mm audio jack, windows do not detect them but it plays the audio in both my laptop speaker as well as the headphones. This issue does not happen when I connect my wireless headphones, it only happens in 3.5mm headphones or earphones. https://photos.app.goo.gl/DmMFjjWRydUBrdrC8 I have updated all the drivers to the latest version. No sound Through HDMI Port problem Posted: 01 Feb 2020 03:02 AM PST Hello Window Users i'm having a rather annoying issue, My laptop is a HP F039WM that originally had windows 8.1 on it. I upgraded to 10 a couple years ago but upon upgrading to windows 10 build 1909 via a fresh copy completely fresh i seem to not have audio at all through HDMI. I have tried various different Intel hd graphic drivers and not one have solved this problem. I look at device manager and can see intel display audio in device manager under audio, but it won't show up in the audio options where you select the audio device to use. I even tried going back as windows 7 thinking maybe it will pick up the correct driver with a older windows installation. Now i'm windows 7 and all is well except no hdmi audio it will not show up in the options. I have tried various drivers to no avail [link] [comments] |
