Spoofing your battery level to avoid Ubers scummy upcharges Posted: 02 Feb 2020 12:54 PM PST Since Uber supposedly makes its prices purposefully higher if your battery level is low, I've been wondering if there's a way to spoof/fake your battery level so you can avoid this. Anyone figured this out? https://metro.co.uk/2019/09/27/uber-charge-battery-lower-10778303/ [link] [comments] |

Remote viewing file my desktop files on my phone (Galaxy S9) Posted: 02 Feb 2020 07:59 PM PST I used to have ES file explorer that can connect to my desktop and view the files, but now it doesn't have the feature, what are the other ways? Just having a connection so I can view files on my phone that are in my desktop. [link] [comments] |
How to activate media scrubber on lockscreen with Android 10? Posted: 02 Feb 2020 07:47 PM PST I've seen multiple articles and screenshots saying the lock screen media scrubber was reintroduced with Android 10, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to activate it? Whatever app I'm using, I just have skip back/forward and pause. Long pressing the forward and back buttons doesn't do anything. Thanks! Phone - A51 on Android 10. [link] [comments] |
Samsung A50 with Broken Screen - How can I get data off the internal memory? Posted: 02 Feb 2020 07:38 PM PST A family member recently purchased and then broke their A50. The unit will power on but the screen won't show anything. They have some data they wanted to retrieve from the internal phone memory (not the SD card) and plugging it in to a PC gets me nothing because I can't access the screen to unlock the phone or set up the USB option to file transfer. Is there a clever way to get around this? These screens seem very fragile. We went from having never broken a cellphone to destroying three A50 screens in short order. At $180 a fix... well, ouch. Galaxy G6 makes strange beeping noise immediately after every sound Posted: 02 Feb 2020 08:37 PM PST OK, I was wondering if anyone here can help me with these bizarre problem. Last Friday, I was messing around with a podcast app when my Galaxy G6 started making these loud, intermittent beeps. I was able to figure out that this loud sound came immediately after the phone made any sound at all. After a notification sound, it beeps. When I stop or pause a song or video, it beeps. After I send a message on Telegram, it beeps after the very soft 'message delivered' sound. I have no idea of what's causing this. I'm hoping someone here has some idea of what might be causing it so I don't have to send it for repairs. Some other facts that may help:
Has anyone seen such a thing? Can anyone help? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2020 07:43 PM PST As of today I started getting full screen pop up ads that are under the app name "settings" but with a much darker cog wheel than the legitimate one. The only thing I recently installed was Robin Hood but I hadn't done anything with it yet and uninstalled to try to fix the problem. I haven't visited any sketchy sites or downloaded anything else but Reddit pics. I ran Malwarebytes but it came up clean. Can't find anything new otherwise or with perms to do this. It pops up about once every 10 but can be more or less. [link] [comments] |
How to get NFC on non NFC compatible phone? Posted: 02 Feb 2020 10:21 AM PST Hi there. I was wondering if there's an adapter that gives a phone NFC support that would show up in the settings like it's built in. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Fire stick vs Chromecast for screen mirroring Posted: 02 Feb 2020 09:37 PM PST Was wondering which is better picture quality wise. When mirroring my chromecast it looks like crap. I know the Apple tv is a lot better. How about the amazon fire stick ? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Having trouble transferring files from S8 memory card Posted: 02 Feb 2020 01:57 PM PST TL;DR: Trying to transfer 13GB of pictures/videos from a Micro SD card to external hard drive. I have about 13 GB of pictures/videos taken over the course of three years that I would like to transfer from a Micro SD card to my external hard drive. Each time I try to move them, I hit a wall. Here's what I've tried and how it failed:
I also own a Mac that is more powerful, but the external hard drive is formatted for Windows, not Mac. Here's a catch: A recent software update on my Samsung Galaxy S8 made my phone not recognize the memory card. So that limits what I can do with transferring from the phone. Thoughts? I'm running out of ideas. Is there some sort of software that could help? I could keep trying different combinations of tricks and computers, but I'm becoming skeptical these methods will work. Why is migrating Android app data to new devices *still* so difficult? Am I missing something? Posted: 02 Feb 2020 05:24 AM PST This is mostly a rant, but also a legit criticism. This feels insane to me that there is no good solution for this. I don't think i have unreasonable expectations here. I trying to move from a non-rooted Pixel 3A to a rooted/flashed Xiaomi 9T Pro with Lineage 17 and bring some app data with me. I'd prefer to just "take everything" but I'll settle for picking and choosing some apps. I've tried the Google drive backup. One account only shows a handful of apps, the account with all the data I want says "no backup found" despite being able to see it in gDrive. I don't think it's android version related because the secondary account backup was found fine. I've tried titanium (paid) and oandbackup but they both need root. I didn't root when I got the pixel because I didn't need it, and rooting now would wipe my data. Plus I don't feel moving services should require it. I've tried Helium (paid) but it seems broken. Can't even make a local backup. Cloud backup has unhelpful errors about no accounts. Why is this hard? Why isn't there an easy way to move active app data? [link] [comments] |
Please help! UMX Virgin Assurance phone Posted: 02 Feb 2020 08:50 PM PST My father has this phone. He had it in his pocket, took it out and it was on a screen I had never seen before. I hit the power button thinking it would turn it off. It didn't. It went to a screen of Chinese letters. But it looks like some english words are over lapping other words. It's odd looking. You can scroll it and tap random spots to send you to other pages with Chinese letters. But the phone won't turn off. Press and hold the power button only restarts it back to the same page. I have no idea what is going on. [link] [comments] |

This morning I look at my phone and it doesn't seem to think that there's a SIM card in it. How should I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Use IOS emojis on Android without rooting? Posted: 02 Feb 2020 01:01 PM PST Hi there. My question is: Is it possible to change the main emoji theme that is inside the Android OS to be the same like IOS? I know for sure this is possible if you root the phone. Another way could be if you simply download some emoji apps(with alots of ADs) and then change it, but the new emojis would still only appear on that specific keyboard, and not get changed on the system Anyone? Hundreds of Random Files In Storage. Why? Posted: 02 Feb 2020 06:36 PM PST Please check the link. This is the first time I'm seeing these files. Yesterday I was moving a KeePass file into documents and all of these were not there. Should I be worried? Can I safely delete them all? EDIT: A few file names I recognized (like Angry Birds) but they're not any apps I've ever downloaded, on any device. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2020 02:07 PM PST I have a Samsung A5 2016, i've been using it a lot as an audio source for some electronics projects like radio transmitters. The phone's DAC eventually broke for some reason. The audio output is near-silent no mather what I did, I even tried wiping and installing different ROMs. But I still want to use the phone as an audio source (without Bluetooth). It has micro USB port. I found some micro USB to 3.5mm dongles online, but I'm not sure if there's a DAC inside them or if they will use the phones broken DAC? Maybe I can use the very popular Type C to 3.5mm dongle with a Type C to Micro USB it might work? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Feb 2020 05:03 PM PST Hello, my phone suddenly started having a series of green cubes glowing in the background (screenshot below). When I screenshot and send the photo to someone the green cubes aren't there, hence the off screen photo. because it doesn't show up in the screenshot it makes me think it's a hardware issue? Has anyone had this issue before? Any fixes? Phone is the note 9. Screenshot: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EX2UGxhp2Fh2WDoe9 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2020 01:05 PM PST I had to return my note 10+ because it had dust in the camera. I made sure to do a factory reset first. When i went in to the store i was told that's not enough. He said Android has made some changes to increase their security and this is one of them. So is this true ? Any other steps i should be taking when selling or returning a phone ? Thanks.
