Galaxy S8 and I think its been hacked into. Posted: 28 Feb 2020 04:40 PM PST I notice it when im using YouTube music. It will do the following repeatedly: 1. Open my google assistant 2. Turn the volume up and down 3. play pause and skip tracks in my playlist. Also tested with SiruisXM. Does the same thing. Sometimes I can see a blue square around various apps like the phone is docked at a dex station. I scanned with Malwarebytes and found no virus. A restart does nothing to fix. Before I do A factory reset, is there anything I can try? [link] [comments] |
Is there an option to see which of my installed apps are removed from play store Posted: 28 Feb 2020 06:20 AM PST I was using ES file explorer for a while now. Today I saw a Reddit post stating that all the apps from the app developer of ES file explorer is removed from the play store due to security Reasons. I wouldn't even know about this without the Reddit post. I want to know if any of my other apps are removed from the store, So I can uninstall it. Is there a way to check this ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:10 PM PST I can't believe that after all these years, the voice to text on Android is still unable to recognize when you give time on the hour. If you say "three o'clock" it will only register as "3" instead of "3:00" or "3 o'clock." It's as if the software literally doesn't hear you. In the meantime, if you say "three fifteen," it will register as "3:15." It's really frustrating when my job requires voice to text all day long and that a lot of it includes having to state time on-the-hour. No Google results for why this is, or how to fix it. A software keyboard that emulates a physical keyboard? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 04:51 PM PST I'm testing an online IDE (code-server for vscode) and on Android I cannot press backspace or enter using neither Gboard or This keyboard I found, but I found out that a hardware keyboard connected via USB works just fine. Is there a software keyboard that emulates inputs from a hardware keyboard? I know it's an odd thing to ask but I can't be the only one having a problem like this [link] [comments] |
What application or setting creates a "Bring bring" bell sound for notification? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 06:28 PM PST All week we could occasionally hear a distinct bell ring coming from somewhere. Two phones and one tablet didn't show any weird applications or visual notifications, so we started giving the side-eye to just about every electronic device we had. The thing is, it only happens a couple times a day so we can't just stake out the place and listen carefully. When we did finally figured it out, we learned it was the tablet! I haven't installed anything new on this thing in months, possibly a year. Where the smeg is the bring-bring coming from? I'm baffled. Suggests, please? Anyone know an app or feature that uses that that short double bell sound? [link] [comments] |
Gmail app won't open internal links Posted: 28 Feb 2020 10:02 PM PST For some reason my browser opens links to emails instead of my Gmail app. I've looked through the app settings but can't find where to change this. Do you guys have any suggestions? More specifically it's bothering me when I add an email to my task list through the Gmail add-ons and then when I try to open it by clicking the link in the task list my browser opens it instead of the Gmail app [link] [comments] |
HELP update my Galaxy Note 9 to Android Pie using Odin Posted: 28 Feb 2020 06:13 PM PST Hi, I bought an unlocked AT&T Note 9 but I'm in another country. I heard of this Odin Software and I'm skeptical on how to use it. I really don't have the confidence to do it and I'm confused of all the terminologies. My phone's build/baseband version is N960USQU1ARJ7. I can't find any match of this in sammobile or updato, can I install anything that's under N690U? Are there any side effects? Bugs? THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE [link] [comments] |

Is it worth trading a galaxy s10 for a google pixel 4 xL? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 11:49 AM PST Have the issues with Google Pixel 4 subsided? Can anyone with a Google Pixel 4 tell me what kinds of issues they're having, if any? [link] [comments] |
Need help turning on a phone with no power button Posted: 28 Feb 2020 09:16 PM PST So recently I got a phone lot and in it was a Moto G5 Plus in pristine conditions with one negative, the power button doesn't work. It feels sunken. I know the device works due to it charging and letting me go into the bootloader, but I can't turn it on that way since in order to start I have to press the power button. The volume buttons work fine. How do I turn on the device with the power button not working? Further going into fastboot it says OEM_Locked, what does that mean? Any help is appreciated. Posted: 28 Feb 2020 11:29 AM PST Just noticed that when I go to the settings page of the Play Store on my Amazon HD 10 2017 tablet - which I sideloaded the Google stuff onto - this little black and white ball appears on the bottom left of the screen in the navigation bar. Tapping, long pressing etc do nothing. Edit: Ok, I can't attach images. Imagine a small black and white ball. [link] [comments] |
android is using old icons/versions of apps Posted: 28 Feb 2020 02:25 PM PST I have an old Samsung Tablet that runs with 4.4.4. The apps installed were of the older version, like the facebook icon is the circle thingy and it's (a little) blurry. A friend said the newer version doesn't support my old OS, but I had the newest versions installed just fine until yesterday when I had to do a factory reset. After that every app that I installed (FB, Messenger...) is now only using old versions. Or at least their old icons/interface. It's not really a major concern because the apps are functioning just fine, but it's just bothering me. [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to automatically save MMS and RCS media to the gallery? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:44 PM PST Is there any way to save pictures and videos that I receive in MMS and RCS messages to my gallery automatically? I know of a couple of text messaging apps that have this option (eg Textra) but none of them support RCS. Is there any way to accomplish this with another app or tasker or something or is it something that has to supported by the text messaging app directly. I'm currently on a Samsung Galaxy S10, Android 10. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:10 PM PST Hey guys, I just signed up for Firefox VPN since it's $5/mo for 5 devices. Is there a way I can run this alongside Blokada on a Note 9? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2020 02:09 PM PST I have backup & sync turned off, but I just tried to move some pics into an album and it notified me it was uploading them! Weird. Also, what's the best way of working with albums, I'd like to be able to remove stuff from the timeline. I realize that the purpose of "timeline" might get in the way of that, but surely Shirley, there must be an alternate view of "pics not in albums." [link] [comments] |

Moto E4 Plus stuck in continuous boot loop Posted: 28 Feb 2020 10:02 AM PST Phone: Moto E4 Plus So I had my phone repaired (charging port needed to be replaced) and it charges, but the thing now is that when I power it on, it continues to reboot itself on the first screen (see video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zv5GNKcefg)). *not my video* I have tried to enter safe mode, but then it says, 'no command' and then it will continue to reboot itself. I am thinking about trying this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frrCUkwzKzE). I think I'm going to head back to the repair shop, but I want to transfer all my data from the phone to the computer. Posted: 28 Feb 2020 11:30 AM PST I've browsed through various web guides and reddit threads, and my head is just kind of spinning from all of the information. I only know about iOS devices, and I can't afford nor want to shell out the $ for another Apple device. I also just don't have enough hours in my day to do all the research to learn enough about Android to be able to confidently setup my child's new device. Posting here in r/Android vs r/AndroidQuestions because it's not really a problem I'm having as much as it is that I'm looking for a quick primer about what's necessary to keep my kid's new device in good shape for the foreseeable future. I basically want to disable/uninstall/delete everything that would negatively impact the battery life and/or performance of a prepaid Verizon-branded Motorola phone (moto e5 go running Android Oreo Go Edition) that I purchased for my 6 year old to use primarily when we play Pokemon GO. The phone has 16GB currently, but I'm willing to expand the memory if needed. Other than using it for games, I anticipate that it may occasionally be used to shoot photos and videos or to view web content (most searches currently revolve around which Pokemon is the strongest, finding/displaying pictures of a specific Pokemon, and watching videos of Pokemon battles). Are there any notifications that I shouldn't disable? Is there something like the iOS Background App Refresh that can be disabled for certain apps as appropriate? Is there anything that I should be aware of or add to ensure that updates and backups are made as needed? I uninstalled a few apps (I can't remember what) and added Google Family Link and Google Fit, but otherwise, this image shows all of the installed apps. [link] [comments] |
Issues with Nicelock and screen recording on Android 10 Posted: 28 Feb 2020 09:15 AM PST I've been using the nice shot tool from the nicelock app for almost a year with no issues on previous os. Yesterday with an Android 10 update the app stopped working properly. It's a 3rd party app so it gets kinda tricky when it comes to updates and all that. I was wondering if anyone uses Nicelock on Android 10 and if you have had any issues. Also, if there is any other screen and internal audio recording app that you may know of please share. Posted: 28 Feb 2020 09:01 AM PST Sometimes my phones response to my taps dies for a second and doesn't take my tap input. Ex. When I play Geometry Dash sometimes the cube doesnt jump when I tap. How do I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Any way to remove YouMail voicemail tag? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 07:02 AM PST I'm new to android, just downloaded YouMail on reddit recommendation because the verizon voicemail app is garbage. I recorded my own greeting, but YouMail still adds a "Please speak clearly, you are being recorded by YouMail" tag. Is there any way to remove that? [link] [comments] |
How to disable the 'Simplified view' banner for webpages in chrome for Android. Posted: 28 Feb 2020 05:49 AM PST Hi everyone. This has been an issue for me for a long time, across many devices, but until fairly recently, I've always been able to fix it. I'm aware of the chrome flags method for disabling reader mode triggering, as well as the accessibility options setting. I'm using the latest build of chrome on Android 10/Oxygen OS 10 on a OnePlus 7 Pro, the accessibility setting for reader mode is disabled, and the flag method is unavailable. I was able to disable the flag on my OnePlus 6 but for some reason it's just gone on this phone. I've just checked the availability of the flags setting for reader mode on a Note 10 and it's also missing. Why the hell would Google remove our ability to get rid of the stupid banner at the bottom of the screen! I've spent hours googling and found nothing useful. I'm hoping that someone knows something I don't and can point me in the right direction. I'm a hardcore Firefox user for everything but Android because I can't stand it's mobile app, and I'd really rather not have to switch from chrome to something else. [link] [comments] |
