Is this Acer Aspire 5 a good laptop? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:21 AM PST The specs of this laptop I'm considering look great for the price it's being offered at: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NX.HN0AA.003 It comes with a 10th generation i7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, and 2 GB Nvidia Graphics for $849. I don't have any first hand experience with Acer computers. What's your opinion? [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Jan 2020 12:11 PM PST I've had my current laptop since 2013. I've had to replace the battery, the keyboard, and the hard drive twice, but it's time for a new one with a better graphics card, etc. In my last hard drive replacement, I opted for a 1TB SSD to replace a mechanical drive. For my new laptop, I'm swinging between an Omen or Alienware, but any customizations that include a 1TB SSD jump the price anywhere from $260 - $300. So, I'm trying to decide which would be the best option for me. 1. Should I use my current SSD, wipe it, and use it in the new laptop ($0, Free)? 2. Or, since the current SSD is about 2 years old, should I buy a brand new one ($150), 3. Or should I just get everything 100% new and buy the new laptop with the 1TB SSD ($260)? I'm leaning towards just using my current SSD since they should last theoretically for decades, but it feels kind of silly to add an "old" hard drive to a brand new laptop. That said, I'd prefer to keep the total laptop price under $1500 and the only thing that tips me over budget is the larger SSD, which I could also buy brand new for about $100 less. Again, however, I'd like to have my new device intact for at least 2 years before beginning to tinker. So, I'm not entirely sure what would be the best option here. [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Jan 2020 10:54 AM PST Hello, I m planning to buy Acer Swift 3 with 4GB RAM and 128 GB SSD because it s only model available to me. However im planning to upgrade it on 8GB RAM and if necessary also upgrade ssd. My question is when I upgrade mentioned two, is it going to run as i bought higher end model or is it going to run still worse. [link] [comments]
Higher frequency ram on laptop Posted: 31 Jan 2020 09:59 AM PST Hi, My laptop MSI GF62VR-7RF has standard 2x8 gb 2400 MHz ram. I would like to upgrade it to 2x16 gb 2666 MHz or higher. Does my laptop support higher frequencies? I have seen higher frequency rams on crucial.com for this laptop. However I would appreciate a (professional) opinion. Thanks in advance. Kind regards. Posted: 31 Jan 2020 01:45 PM PST Which should I choose? Both are at the 1500€ price, the first has a GTX 1660ti and the second has an RTX 2060. I prefer the GS75 design and I prefer the 17'3 inch because I play a lot of FPS and as you know, it's important to have a big screen to be able to see head glitches and fast peaks. On the other hand, I'd really like to have the 15% or so improvement that the RTX 2060 gives me. Thank you. [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Jan 2020 12:54 PM PST I'm looking at purchasing my 1st gaming laptop, i'm not after anything too expensive as i'll be using it as a daily laptop with a few games throwing in. I won't be playing demanding games like MW3 but still want it to keep up with most stuff within reason. I'm UK based and wondered what your thoughts on this laptop are? and because i'm not really sure what I should be looking for, if anyone could recommend a minimum spec I should be looking at would be great https://www.ebuyer.com/861937-medion-erazer-p6689-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-8250u-1-6ghz-8gb-ram-1tb-30023993 [link] [comments]
Got a laptop over the summer, absolutely hate it and want to repurchase Posted: 31 Jan 2020 12:32 PM PST I bought a new laptop (ASUS UX330UA) over the summer before school and I really dislike it. I am used to Mac OS and I really miss my old Macbook. Everday I contemplate just dropping the 2k or whatever I'll need to buy a Macbook Air but I feel like that would be incredible wasteful. Is it realistic to sell my current laptop and purchase a new one? Obviously I'll lose some money in the process but I'd hope to get at least the majority of the cost back. I'm also a bit worried about selling on eBay or online in general because I've heard horror stories about people getting scammed and eBay siding with the buyer. Is Craigslist/other websites just as bad for selling or are they more secure? Basically what I'm asking is, is this a completely dumb idea and should I just stick it out for the next 3-4 years before I can actually justify purchasing a new one? Or is this only a slightly dumb idea that might work semi-well. EDIT: Perhaps it is worth mentioning that it is in repair right now (the screen was fucked up, but the warranty covers all sorts of damage so any dents and blemishes are also being repaired), so when I get it back it will be in pretty good condition. HP Omen 17' Fan Control Problem Posted: 31 Jan 2020 11:53 AM PST Hello, I have recently found out that even tho in the cheapest gaming laptops they support fan control, I could reach that function in my Omen Control Center. However, the situation gets even tougher when I searcher for other softwares that could have solved this issue. For instance, I have installed MSI Afterburner, Fan Control (Github), and the fan control section was grayed and not accesable on all of the other applications. Are the fans on this laptop really uncontrollable, or is it just my mistake? [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Jan 2020 10:49 AM PST So I have this Dell laptop ( I know I know why?) That is fine expect for the vents that's located at the fucking bottom of the laptop and no where else. So most times the laptop becomes loud since it fucking can't breathe, especially on my bed when I'm briefly doing homework or whatever. I tend to put a folder under it and doesn't help. ( I used to have a hp laptop that I used a folder for but I got that from QVC so it sucked.) And now I need help finding a product for said shitty vents so when I do use it won't be a problem. 4k external display on Lenovo Legion Y540 i7-9750H RTX2060 Posted: 31 Jan 2020 10:38 AM PST Hey, has anyone played AAA games on 4k external display on Lenovo Legion Y540 i7-9750H RTX2060? How was the performance? Has it dipped below 30fps? Can't find benchmarks anywhere :/ [link] [comments]
Acer Predator Helios 300 Warranty Posted: 31 Jan 2020 10:23 AM PST 6 months ago I bought a Predator Helios 300 2019 (the one with the RTX 2060) and it only has a 256GB SSD. It has 2 SSD slots and 1 HDD slot and I want to add another SSD because 256GB is just not enough. I won't add it myself, but is it going to void the 1 (or 2, idk) year warranty? I really need more than 256GB but also need warranty in case anything goes bad... [link] [comments]
Help: Laptop choice (8th Gen Intel Decision) Posted: 31 Jan 2020 09:55 AM PST Strongly considering buying one of the following 2 laptops: Option 1: $900 | MSI PS63 Modern-008 15.6" | Intel Core i7-8565U | GTX 1050Ti | 16 GB DDR4 | 512GB SSD Option 2: $850|MSI Creator 15M A9SD-044 15.6" | Intel Core i5-9300H | GTX 1660Ti | 8GB Ram | 256GB SSD I'm leaning toward option 1 but I'm concerned about the 8th gen processor. I like that it is more portable and has better battery life as well. Questions: Is it a bad idea to buy a computer with a processor that is already 2 generations back? Is there anything about these two options that makes either of them a way better deal? Do you have any other suggestions for laptops that are similarly powerful, lightweight, and in the same price range? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

Where can i find a motile laptop charger? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 09:21 AM PST The one that came with my laptop is pitifully short, and I'd like to buy a longer one. Walmart customer service electronics departments aren't picking up. [link] [comments]

Help, my laptop won‘t turn on! Posted: 31 Jan 2020 08:04 AM PST Hello guys! I hope you can help me. I've got an HP Compaq Presario CQ62 and it's always worked for me. Now, when I turn it on, I can hear the fans „starting up", but the screen remains black. Has anyone ever had this problem? How do I solve it? I already googled HP's support site and tried to power reset the laptop and re-insert the RAM. [link] [comments] |
