Does quck charging often damage lifespan?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 02:33 PM PST

Basically the title. I have the redmi note 7 and I pretty much only quick charge it (including overnight). Can this hinder they battery's lifespan?

Do I need to leave my SIM card in for the whole time to get eligible for Mi Unlock?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 08:13 PM PST

So I just got my new 256GB K20. Pretty sexy device, if I do say so myself. I want to unlock the bootloader so I can ditch what's on it now, and go to either xiaomi.eu or LineageOS. I got through to the Mi Unlock screen, but I had to put the SIM card from my old phone into the K20, in order for it to connect my Mi Account and phone number to the device. It worked, and it says I have 167 hours to wait. My plan is to put the K20 down for a week and use my old phone while the timer counts down. But what if I take my SIM out, it won't be the number that was on it when I linked it all together. Will it be OK, or will it cause problems? I figured I would power down the K20, then remove the SIM, and then put it back in before I turn it back on in a week, will that help? Thanks!

Making sure my phone is safe.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 02:27 PM PST

I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 from eglobalcentral.eu/. It came recommended from a relative and was super cheap.

After I made the purchase, I came across a lot of reviews calling the website a scam, saying they didn't receive their purchase after months despite a promise of 6-8 working days. Thankfully, mine arrived on the 10th day. But the experience make me nervous about the whole thing.

I remember my dad bought a phone from china a few years ago. He found his credit was disappearing, so he took it to the local phone repair guy, and yeah, the phone was siphoning his credit to some scammer in China. Again, something that's made me nervous about my purchase; I haven't used the phone for shopping or online banking yet because I'm afraid to have my details on it.

Having had the phone a few days, everything seems to be in working order. The one thing is that the battery drains just a tiny bit faster than I'd hoped, which I've read could be the result of spyware, etc. Yeah, I feel like this is the phone equivalent to googling "neck pain" and getting "spinal cancer", but again, all these little things are kinda building up in my head.

How would I know if the phone was altered by the retailer? How would I fix it if it was? Am I just being paranoid?

Just want to get a second opinion so I can stop worrying.

Edit: Thanks guys, I'm actually glad that this is all in my head. I can enjoy my phone in peace now.

A good upgrade to my Redmi 6?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 12:36 PM PST

I've been thinking of upgrading my phone and I really can't decide and I'm really picky when it comes to phones, so I've come to this subreddit for some suggestions. Here's a few of my requirements:

-must be at least slightly faster than the Redmi 6 -3GB RAM/32GB space minimum -can't be too big

So far I've got my eyes on the Redmi 6 Pro/Mi A2 Lite, but I'm not sure if that's good enough of an upgrade. Some previous experiences would be incredibly useful.

Also, can someone give me a few good points as to why I should consider bigger phones?

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: Under 200€/$ would be fantastic.

iPhone 7 -> Mi 9t Pro. Does it make sense?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 04:11 PM PST

    Hey guys!

I'm considering switching from my old iPhone 7 to a 9T Pro. Does it even make sense? Will the camera quality (particularly video) improve, or downgrade?

Mop setting has disappeared from my RoboRock S5”

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 02:50 PM PST

Hi, a recent update to the app has removed the 'mop pattern' option. The new option says 'gentle' but I selected it and it didn't really mop.

I filled it up with water and made sure the microfibre cloth was very wet with slightly warm water like I always do, but no water came out from the tank at all and the muddy paw prints looked exactly the same as before.

    Any suggestions please? Thanks

    Gcam Settings on Mi 9

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 06:26 PM PST

Is someone here who uses the latest gcam build from Urnyx05?

I would like to know which settings do you use. I want to improve the quality with fine tuning the extra settings (luma/ chroma wavelet denoise levels).

    Thanks in advance

    Pocophone unlock stuck at 50%

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 12:01 PM PST

I'm trying to unlock my the bootloader of the Pocophone F1 I bought last week but I'm having a hell of a time.

    1. The device has my SIM card in it and it is paired with my Mi account. Sync and Find my Phone are enabled. WiFi is disabled and 4g is enabled.
    2. I've put the phone in developer mode; OEM unlocking is enabled (if that makes a difference), USB debugging is enabled.
    3. Every time I click "Mi Unlock Status" I get the alert saying permissions are required. I click agree and it says the device is locked + secured.
    4. I click "add account and device" and I get an alert saying that my account is now paired with this device. It's still locked and secured.
    5. I install adb, the Mi Unlock tool (version 3.5.x.x) and the Mi USB driver.
    6. I put my phone in to Fastboot mode, connect it via USB cable and sign in to the Mi Unlock tool. I click the "unlock" button and tell it that I'm sure.
    7. The loading bar stops at 50% with an error message "Couldn't verify device. Can't get info, connect again".
    8. Somewhere on the Internet, somebody recommends unplugging the cable, plugging it back in and hitting "unlock" before Windows' drivers have a chance to load. This saw the loading bar reach 99% before dying with the error message "Couldnt unlock. Can't get info, connect again."

At no point have I seen a "please wait X hours" message and I'm given no clue over what to do now. Any help?

    tl;dr

Unlocking is stuck at 50%, "Couldn't verify device. Can't get info, connect again".

    Google Maps Location History...

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:37 AM PST

Looking it around it seems like a few others are having this problem, no obvious solution.

I've noticed that google maps is no longer tracking my location (so no Timeline feature), in the Google Maps settings everything is switched on... Anyone seeing similar problems or know of a fix? I don't use it frequently but it's nice to have when I need it.

My location history stops in October, exactly when I bought this phone so it's not a recent update issue.

How do I quick launch and record with camera?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 05:11 PM PST

I know that I can just double tap volume down twice to bring up the camera during idle, the problem is that this is still a bit slow because after I do this I need to switch over to record mode, and press the record button. Is there a way to quick tap to record immediately?

    Mi 9T Pro ArCore support

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 04:37 PM PST

Is it supported? Only the K20 pro is listed on Google's page but I've read that the global version is supported too.

I'm considering getting it and want it to also be able to run Minecraft Earth. Can someone who has the phone let me know?

    Mi 9t // Miui 11 Killing Apps

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 04:33 PM PST

This seems to be posted over and over again.

I'm using an app called 'Edge Screen S10' for some shortcuts (Camera, Alarm, Calendar etc). That last few days I've noticed it has stopped launching apps.

    I've tried everything to try and get it to work again;

Reinstalling the app, and clearing all data. Reinstalling the latest stable update for Miui 11. Disabling all optimisation and battery restrictions. (Including developer options). Locked the app so that it dosent get killed.

I have noticed that if I have the actual Edge app open, the short cuts will work. But once I change apps it stops working. Any ideas guys!
