What is the strange, almost hidden symbol on my Android screen? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:45 PM PST There is a strange symbol on the bottom right corner of my screen. The symbol is barely visible, almost hidden. It is there when almost any app is running but it doesn't show up on screen shots. I had to take a picture of the screen with another phone. The symbol is like three ^ stacked vertically. It doesn't do anything when tapped, swiped, or long-tapped. Strange symbol on my phone. https://imgur.com/a/IN66nEH [link] [comments] |
i need to wipe an S3 with a completely broken screen Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:52 PM PST I held the power on and the down volume and it beeped/vibrated a bunch, but I can't see the screen at all. When I go on my gmail account, it doesn't list this phone as being logged it, and my facebook also didn't list this phone as being logged in, so I'm not sure if it's wiped or not, or how to do it. I also have a S3 tablet with a similar issue, but it won't even turn on. [link] [comments] |
Android highlighting/hyperlinking date/timed related text in message app Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:18 PM PST Whenever I type something in a text message to someone else, text such as 'today' or 'tomorrow' or times such as '2:05' will become blue and underlined, kinda like a web-link, but when I click the text it brings up the calandar app with an event entry. Does anyone know how to disable this? [link] [comments] |
Want to copy only system settings to new pixel phone Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:02 PM PST When getting a new phone, I like to install from scratch, but I would like to copy my basic Android settings, such as my keyboard, dictionary, and lock screen settings. Is there a way I could do that? My current phone is an OG pixel. [link] [comments] |
Screen busted; need to retrieve files Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:26 PM PST Ok so I have something I need help figuring out how to do. I have a phone (Nuu G3) that still works except the screen is completely wrecked. My issue is this. I need a way to access the phone menus so I can change the dev setting to allow another phone to be the one in control when connected to it. Is it possible to run it to a TV ? If not, does anybody have any ideas on how I can get files (photo/video) transferred from it? My techie friend who was my go to for questions like this passed away unexpectedly and I don't know who else could help besides good old Reddit. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:15 PM PST Hello all, I use Samsung Galaxy S8. I use Messenger Lite. I cannot disable its notifications for an indefinite time. When I'm busy working the notifications become distracting, and disabling them manually every 24 hours is not cool. That's why I'd like to know if there's an alternative (non-official) app for using Facebook Messenger that allows me to disable notifications indefinitely. Cheers [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:07 PM PST I have some contacts I'd prefer to keep locally rather than in Google's cloud. Am I missing something, or does the Pixel 3a not support locally stored contacts out of the box? Is there an app or some other way to achieve this? [link] [comments] |
Guys, how can I fake a gyroscope sensor on my phone without rooting it? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:30 AM PST Guys, my phone is still new and under warranty but it has got no gyroscope, and I don't want to root it to simulate a gyroscope, so I need help [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:40 PM PST Whenever I have Pandora open if my phone locks while it is paused the app closes causing me to lose what I was listening to and it resets. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+. If anyone can help me fix it that would be awesome. [link] [comments] |
Is there a *good* app equivalent to autoruns in Windows? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:46 PM PST I'm about to buy my first Android phone and I'd like to have some control over what runs on it. I'm too much of a coward to try rooting it. In Windows you can use autoruns to prevent applications from loading at boot. I just spent an hour or so looking at apps in the app store that claim to do the same thing in Android, but I couldn't find anything that looked like it would work. Some of them, although using the autoruns name, actually do the opposite, that is, do something to make programs persist in memory. Others claim to shut running programs down, but user comments say they don't really, that the programs either stay running or load themselves back again. From what I could see, none of them looked like they were worth the trouble to download. Are there apps that really give you control over what runs in Android? [link] [comments] |
Transferring Photos from iPhone to S10 Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:15 PM PST Hello! So until a few days ago my girlfriend has been an iPhone user. She recently picked up a nice Galaxy S10. We wanted to transfer all her photos from the iPhone to the Android. I figured the best solution would be to upload the pics to the cloud and then download them. So they got uploaded to the Google cloud from her iPhone. We can see all of them (thousands of pics) on the android device now. This all worked perfectly. The question is simply: how on earth do we download everything to the gallery? She paid to increase cloud storage specifically to use it for this task and then remove it from cloud storage, and it is automatically UPLOADING from device to the cloud, so how do we "sync" the other direction? Her argument is that if she had just purchased a new iPhone, it would have been an extremely simple process, and her new phone would have been automatically populated with all her photos. Any help with this problem would be much appreciated as I've been searching and unable to find a true solution to this. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Chrome won't run without Google Play services, which are not supported by your device Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:06 PM PST My brother's Huawei phone ran into this issue where he cant access any Google apps like Chrome and Gmail. When he tried to play a game called Brawl Stars, which is linked to his Google account for ingame data, the game needed an update but when pressing the update button, it redirected into the Play store on Chrome (so not the Play store app). After this, this message popped up: "Chrome won't run without Google Play services, which are not supported by your device" and after that Chrome crashed. The Play store app can't be found in the apps menu from settings either and Google Play Services can't be disabled. Trying to use any Google Apps like Gmail, Chrome, Play Games or Play Books just results in either an instant crash or a similar message as the title. What's going on? [link] [comments] |
Why is my notch area pure white? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:02 PM PST My device is the OnePlus7T and it has Android 10. I have enabled the 'override force dark' setting in the developer options for the system wide dark theme because some apps don't become dark for the usual OnePlus dark mode. I've noticed that some apps like Chrome, Kiwi Browser and Steam(they don't support notched display) whenever I go into landscape mode, the entire notch area becomes pure white. Please tell me how to disable this. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:45 PM PST Hey, quick question. I need a program to open a LOCAL ffmpeg file that's being streamed to, so that I can receive an ffmpeg stream my computer is creating onto my android device's internal storage. Suggestions? (VLC is out so far ; it'll only let me open a stream over the network and trying to open the output file fails.) [link] [comments] |
Nougat-like Ambient Notifications on Oreo & Pie Posted: 23 Nov 2019 06:05 PM PST Greetings! Since Oreo was released, I noticed that these monochrome notifications that pops-up within the ambient display feature got simplified a lot. I found a decent article which explains it in a right way:
Here is even a pic with a comparison of two systems side-by-side. The question is pretty simple - is there any solution to get back ambient display notifications with an old style? Smartphone: OnePlus 5 [link] [comments] |
Screen turning on at random, need help Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:30 AM PST For a the past 2-3 months I've had a problem with my phone screen randomly switching on, despite being locked and untouched. No notifications show up, it acts the same as pressing the power button. The phone is about 6 months old and had no issues at first. I've searched online for people with the same issue but none of their solutions worked for me. Moto/peek/ambient display is switched off, all Moto actions are switched off. Taken the phone case off incase it was somehow pressing the power button. I've tried disabling notifications on almost every app as well as uninstalling none essential apps and recently did a factory reset (and restored from backup). I use Nova launcher and have been since before the problem started. Moto g7 Power, using o2. [link] [comments] |

Phone carrier keeps texting me about mobile data Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:10 PM PST Hello! About 2 months ago, I began getting texts about how my phone ran out of credit because of mobile data. This is odd, because I strictly do not use mobile data, and even if I do use it, it's only an accident and I turn it off immediately. The bot from the carrier keeps texting me every now and again, and it stops once I top up on credit, (I only use credit for calls and texts, no unlimited data, call, nor text plan.) The only problem is that when I check my credit balance, it says that I still have around €2.50 left. I rang tech support and explained my situation. After a long hold, the worker said that I activated it at 13:00 on a Tuesday; when I'm supposed to be in school and of which I don't take my phone into school. He ruled it down to the fact that I pressed it telekinetically. After that, I went gung-ho, set a limit of 1mb for my mobile data, took it out of my launchpad, basically restricted every app's access to it, and yet the bot still texted me saying that my mobile data allowance had ran out. I check the limit, and it's still at 1mb of data left. Is there any way to solve this issue? Many thanks! Some info below; Phone: HUAWEI P-smart Country: Republic of Ireland SIM Carrier: eir Place bought: Carphone Warehouse Payment system: Pre-Pay, (pay the €140.00 upfront, no additional fees.) Is there ANY way for me to access my Gallery? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:18 PM PST Hi, so, in short, I had an S9 that I dropped, and I found out it was completely ruined and I think needed a motherboard replacement. I had the device backed up so when I got my S10 I restored the data. The thing is, the Gallery did not get restored. Is there ANY POSSIBLE solution to get the pictures from my no longer working S9 anywhere OFF of that phone. These pictures mean more to me than the phone and I am desperate. [link] [comments] |
How do I make my face recognition animation bigger? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:30 PM PST I have a Samsung Galaxy A50 with a screen protector. I use the face recognition quite often. My screen protector however blocks the circle from the outside of the camera notch having the lighting around it when it is scanning. Is there any way to make the animation bigger, so it overlaps the protector marking? I have ADB but no root. EDIT: To clarify, I have a Galaxy A50. It has a screen animation around the notch when unlocking using face recognition. I put on a screen protector. The besels of the screen protector are thick and cover up the animation. I have tried three screen protectors. One's glue didn't work, the other one from PanzerGlass was too thick, so fingerprint recognition didn't work. Now fingerprint recognition worked but the animation for the facial detection doesn't. How do I enlarge the animation? [link] [comments] |
Note 10 plus ultra fast charging car charger? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:11 PM PST Hi, I've been looking since I got my note 10 plus for q car charger that can charge it as fast as the 25 watt wall adapter that comes with it and activate the ultra fast charging. I haven't had luck. I just tried Aukeys PD 27 watt type C car charger but no luck. Has 27 watts and PD (Power delivery) that the wall adapter uses so I'm at a loss on why it didn work. Does anybody know why it didn't and know of a charger that can activate the ultra fast charging? I'm getting tired of buying chargers just to send them back. Any help would be appreciated, thank you. Is there an app or work around to mass delete messages older than a certain cut off? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:57 PM PST For some really odd reason, Google removed the ability to mass delete messages older than a certain cut off. I'm switching to a new phone and I like to keep some of my messages, but I've had this phone 3 years and it has over 300,000. So is there an app or work around to mass delete messages so I don't have to move so many? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:39 PM PST Hi, I would like to know if / how I can add a toggle switch (ideally in the quick settings pulldown but a switch on the home screen would be good too) to toggle mono audio ( from accessibility settings). Any and all help and advice appreciated, thanks! [link] [comments] |
