Am I able to change the volume of my Samsung galaxy s9 remotely from my windows 10 laptop? Not sure if this is needed, but I'm using YouTube on my phone plugged into an Aux cable.

Any ideas how to disable Amber Alerts? All of my public alert settings are set to 'off' (Moto G5)

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 06:22 PM PDT

Totally in support of Amber Alerts obviously. But given the wide range of coverage for these alerts in my juristiction and that I'm rarely/never in a position to assist, I can't be useful. How can I turn them off?

My settings are currently set to 'off' for everything but the settings appear to not matter. Thanks

T-Mobile WiFi Calling from Non-T-Mobile Phone in Android 9/10? Is it possible?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 10:03 PM PDT

I currently own a T-Mobile LG V20. I've enjoyed this phone, but I'm looking to upgrade. However, I'm not very enthused by any of T-Mobile's current phone offerings.

Back when the V20 came out, various phones had been able to do WiFi Calling for awhile, but they HAD to be from T-Mobile, and they had to use their accompanying software.

I remember reading that WiFi Calling was due to be baked into regular Android at some point in the future. This was back when we were at Android 7. Has that happened yet with 10?

I live in an rural-ish area, and often need to use WiFi Calling when I'm visiting friends' houses where coverage isn't great, so having WiFi Calling is kind of a must.

I know I can make WiFi Calls via Google Voice, but I know that would be making calls or sending texts from my Google Voice number instead of my actual phone number, which isn't ideal.

So, in order to keep WiFi Calling on T-Mobile, do I still need to buy a T-Mobile phone? Or will any Unlocked GSM compatible phone do?

    Thanks very much in advance!

EDIT: Being able to keep WiFi Calling with custom roms would be an amazing bonus, too.

    Odd screen "flash"

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 07:21 PM PDT

I don't know how else to describe this, but several times daily, my screen "flashes", as if it changes to a blank ( but lit) display and then back to normal faster than I can see. There's no noticable pattern or circumstance, and has done it since day 1. It's a cheap Moto go-phone. Anyone else seen similar?

"Check USB charger port for moisture" notif when I plug in my phone?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 10:48 PM PDT

I have a Samsung Galaxy A5, and sometimes when I go to charge my phone, it will notify me that theres moisture in the charger port, even though A) I've been in bed for the last 2 hours and, B) it's been plugged in the entire time. It does this probably once a week or so, even though I always use the same charging cable and dock. Should I bring in my phone to get checked? Or should I just leave it? It doesn't affect the performance, in fact the notif is on right now.

Can I use the same sim on two phones with eSIM?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 06:57 PM PDT

So, I have a main SIM card on my Pixel 3 XL, which supports eSIM, but I also use my OG Pixel sort of like an iPod, since it's smaller it fits on most of my shorts and I can take it jogging to listen to music.

Thing is, I'm really paranoid about being "unreachable" while jogging, so I was wondering if there was any way to "split" my SIM card between the two by using the eSIM on the 3 XL and the physical SIM card on the OG Pixel

With this, they would share the same internet and get calls and texts, I presume.

I could get another SIM card, but I don't want to pay for two internet plans and also don't want my family to worry about two different phone numbers if they're trying to call me (but it's a solution I'm willing to take if the eSIM thing doesn't pan out)

Also, my carrier does not offer dependants for my plan, so I can't get a second SIM that uses the same internet pool, sadly

Anyway, since this eSIM thing is fairly recent I can't seem to find this info anywhere online, so I was hoping to get help here!

    Thanks in advance!

    How to install unsupported apps?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 06:50 PM PDT

I have an old chuwi hi12 that's running android 5.1. I need to download an app, but it only works with android 6.0 and higher. Unfortunately, since my tablet is so old I can't upgrade past android 5.1. Is there any way I can make the play store think I'm on 6.0? My Tablet is rooted, but I don't think I can install xposed or flash a different rom on it (I don't think I can get twrp on it). I tried creating an apk with the app on my phone (my phone is fully updated), but I just got a phasing error when I tried to install it on my tablet.

    Question about notifications

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 06:45 PM PDT

Why would there be one normal colored messenger notification( blue) and one that is greyed out on the lockscreen on the Samsung j7 prime? It still said the name of the sender but it was grey and the message did not appear in the messenger app nor did the senders name. It was definitely fb messenger and not another message app. Cant find any information on this

Which manufacturer has the least aggressive ram management?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 09:23 PM PDT

I'm looking for a phone to replace my moto g5 plus and one of the mayor annoyances I'm trying to upgrade from is the low ram (I have the 2GB version), but I have also noticed that even when I have ram available the phone likes to kill firefox and other apps. This seems to be common with motorola from previous experience with the moto line so I'm looking at other manufacturers but this detail rarely gets mentioned on reviews (from what I've seen)

    Malwarebytes refuses to properly work

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 03:04 PM PDT

So I managed to get adware on my phone (pop-up ads in notifications constantly appearing).

I tried to use Malwarebytes to remove it, but it literally does absolutely nothing. The app itself is incredibly laggy and if I try to do a scan, it will stall and not even begin the scan (it was "preparing" to scan and tells me it was "unable to complete the scan" after about 5 minutes, multiple times in a row). Additionally, I tried updating the app and pressing the "update now" prompt does nothing at all.

Can adware actually prevent your antivirus from working? This is rather chilling to me and I'm thinking about installing a different antivirus app.

    VPN Not Working

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:07 PM PDT

After installing the recent software update on my Google Pixel 2, VPNs refuse to connect, The clearest answer I'm getting from a VPN app is "Failed for local port busy." I've tried all the common solutions but I believe it may be an issue with the software update. How do I fix this?

The app "GalleryVault" just got removed from the Play Store because it's apparently a untrustworthy app.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 09:43 AM PDT

What should I do now? Remove the app or wait for clarification from the developers side? I paid for premium features and it's a shame to now it's not a trustful application. Getting my money back isn't an option too, right?

    Data not working

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 05:13 PM PDT

Hey there, So right now I have 2 phones and 2 sim cards (s6 and s9), sims are Tmobile and Bell (canada). Both phones are unlocked. So i had the bell sim in the s9 and it worked fine, data, everything for a week. Now no more data. I switch the sim to the s6 and data works. I switch in the tmobile sim to the s9 and data works. Tmobile data works in both phones. So its not a plan issue, sim issue or phone sim slot issue. Any ideas? Ive tried reseting, safe mode, clear cache.

    YouTube app on Samsung

Simple question. Why is it that sometimes when I hit the home button while watching a video on YouTube it will put the video in a small box in the corner of the screen but other times it just closes the video altogether. Thank you.

Android 10 Closing folder opens apps drawer

    Posted: 01 Oct 2019 04:15 PM PDT

Since upgrading to Android 10 one change that I can only assume is a bug is that when I close a folder the apps drawer opens up. Is this a known bug?

As in when I tap outside of the folder just somewhere on the wallpaper the apps drawer opens. This is on a Google Pixel 1 running stock.

    Thanks for any help!
